Just stumbled upon an interesting website

It's called Stumble Upon ( http://stumbleupon.com ) which basically takes a few preferences from you and then shows you to random webpages based on what you've entered and you can like or dislike pages to improve the searches. I like the concept but I haven't really delved too deeply into it yet so I dunno if it's entirely safe (could bring me to virused porn pages for all I know)

Anyone here used it and can give a better explanation/experience?

It's not too interesting and it does get boring after a while.

Saying that from experience.

You pretty much got it right in the OP but, most of the things you stumbleupon are really boring or uninteresting. It's a waste of time IMO.

If it's used too much it might get boring, yeah, but if one is looking for something new to experience but doesn't know quite how to search for it this site could help out in that department.

This is quite good for finding good sites about things, but I guess if you look for the same things over and over you will get the same results.

Anyways, nice find :)

LOL I've known about this for so long that I didn't even realize other people didn't know about it. Too me it's like digg or facebook. It works for me, but the nature of my interest is websites and not necessarily the content on the website.

They do have an option to tell the site that you've seen this page already and I bet it'll stop it from bringing the same sites up over and over.

Meh, I think it is useful for a little bit, then after a while, it starts getting a bit boring, but I think that if you used it once in a while (maybe even just for fun) it can become interesting/fun to use.

Also, I freaking love the pun used in the thread title :P

I almost missed my chance to make the pun, I noticed the correlation right before I hit "Post Topic" lol

Messing around with the preferences/interests and there's a great many things here. If this is even half as good as it seems it'll lead me to a lot of great places on the internet and if I keep the R and X rated filters off then I shouldn't haven't any problem with running into something potentially dangerous.

(the hell with that mario)

Just tried it, it only gave me some weird browser games. On the fifth try I got some wikia pages.

Looks like I got something new to try whenever I'm bored :P

It's safe for your computer, but not your schedule. If you delve too deep, you will NEVER LEAVE YOUR PC!!!!

Like, no joke. I avoid it lest i stay up till the wee hours of the morning stumbling.

However, I do learn a lot when I choose to go on. So there's that.

A friend of mine and I would always stumble upon random stuff on there. I haven't used it in a year now because once we stopped using it together, I stopped used it.
