KakeiTheWolf 652 August 20, 2012 Share August 20, 2012 Here's my most recent proposal from the staff board. Please let us know what you think about the revised numbers aand such. Certain things, like the idea for exponential point decreases, have not yet been discussed. Whilst most of this is pretty much spot on, I'd say pornographic material is too generically phrased. If someone posts child pornography, that should be an immediate ban, as that is illegal. As well, the one for character limit evasion still seems high. I see people evading that limit EVERYWHERE. I can't go into a thread without seeing something like "(additionalcharactersadditionalcharactersadditionalcharactersadditionalcharacters)" at the bottom of a post. For many people, the limit infraction would be a quick rocket to the moon. My Music: http://kakeithewolf.bandcamp.com/. Bunches 81 August 20, 2012 Share August 20, 2012 If only you were an admin on the last 4 forums I had been on... Well, then... I probably wouldn't have left them. lol same here! the one i mentioned before where they tried to create a "drama forum", sure it worked as far as keeping all the drama in one forum, but people just got so up in it that the content started lacking and the whole forum went to shit. so yeah it worked in the sense that there was absolutely zero drama anywhere else on the site, but there was also very little content. so yea, guess it wasn't the best idea. Mindrop 412 August 20, 2012 Share August 20, 2012 (edited) "You shouldn't be doing that" backseat moderating got 25 points, while "GTFO and read the damn rules" backseat moderating got a whole punch of 250 But still, the first tier of punishment was still too high imo. There will be some people who will try to abuse it :x Valid point. Their needs to be a distinction between back seat modding, and pointing minor infractions out. Me responding to a post, and then saying something like, btw, you should hit the 100 character limit to comply with the rules, is not backseat modding in my opinion. It depends on how it is said. Plus, if your only responding to a thread to point something out, that is different too. Heck, trying to get a thread that's off topic back on by stating that and redirecting the thread back on topic in your post should not be backseat modding either. Oh, and does this forum follow standard english spelling and grammar? If so, that needs to be added into the point system (and rules if its not ). And no, I am not talking a couple mistakes (like I am sure any grammar Nazi could find in here), but posts without any grammar and bad spelling. EDIT: Write in proper, legible English. You are on an English-speaking forum run by English-speaking staff. We cannot moderate content that we cannot read, and "but you can always use Google Translate!" is not an excuse. In addition, while we do not require perfect grammar, you should at least try to punctuate, capitalize, space, and spell properly. @@Zoop, So yes, I suggest adding in grammar/spelling infractions. Evilshy 5,090 August 20, 2012 Share August 20, 2012 Oh, and does this forum follow standard english spelling and grammar? If so, that needs to be added into the point system (and rules if its not ). And no, I am not talking a couple mistakes (like I am sure any grammar Nazi could find in here), but posts without any grammar and bad spelling. So yes, I suggest adding in grammar/spelling infractions. Dear God, please. At the very least, in RP world. How about a system where you get 5 points for every major spelling/grammar error? If a word is still understandable, it's fine, but if not, that's 5 points. Didn't put a period at the end of a sentence, but instead just went straight to the next one (without even capitalizing the first word, you barbarian)? Another 5 points. Not capitalizing "I" when referring to yourself, or using "u" and "2" as a replacement for "you" and "to/too"? 100 GODDAMN POINTS BECAUSE THIS ISN'T A FUCKING TEXT MESSAGE AND EVEN IF IT WAS, WHY SHOULD TYPING ON A PHONE BE AN AUTOMATIC WAIVER OF BASIC ENGLISH SKILLS? YOU WENT TO FUCKING SCHOOL, RIGHT?! If this were implemented, I know a few posts that would get people suspended on their own. I'm joking, of course And before anybody get's on my back, as far as I'm concerned, emotes are an acceptable replacement for periods at the end of a sentence. Mostly because something like "I like cake. " looks stupid. The period is an end of the sentence, so if the emote is attached to that sentence, it shouldn't come after the period. However, something like 'I like cake ." looks stupid as well :/ 3 Signature now 99% less edgy!

Run on sentences with no breaks, capitals or punctuation, as well grammar and spelling problems. It is a nightmare! Sure, their will be grammatical mistakes, and spelling problems, but the posts that make so attempt to use grammar and spelling, away with them! And using emotes as periods? Really? And I like Evilshy's system. Small points per mistake. Probably 10 points, per one, but still. That way, if its one or two, mistakes, they can be slid by, but the posts where no attempt was made, they can chalk up the points easily. 1 Tulpas: Twi, Reales, & Orson. Batbrony 16,055 August 20, 2012 Share August 20, 2012 Gosh dang, where the buck have I been? This is news to me, as I certainly haven't run across any drama on these forums so far; then again, I might just not be looking in the right places (not that I would, because why in Equestria would I want to get involved in pointless drama ). Anyway, I like this penalty system idea, although I do have a few questions for the moderators. First of all, if we just post a video in like the Youtube thread and just give some details about the creator of the vid and maybe even some complimentary comments and recommendations to other forum members, that wouldn't count as advertisement, right? Also, could you guys maybe define NSFW content? Because sometimes I know that I, and some other members, may post pics that have some foul language, or maybe even mildly suggestive themes, in threads such as the Funny Pony Pics thread. Thanks guys, and again, thanks for looking into continually keeping these forums a friendly and civil place for anypony to go to!!! You guys rock!!!!! "You'll hunt me. Zoop 8,384 August 20, 2012 Author Share August 20, 2012 @,@@KakeiTheWolf, At the end of the day, common sense will dictate how we approach things that are not explicitly covered by the rules. Linking to malicious files and/or blatantly illegal material will result in a one-way trip to the moon as quickly as possible. Trying to cover everything will only result in a massive document that nobody will read; better, I think, to cover the basics, those things that happen relatively commonly. The points system is not for people that come here with the blatant intent of causing nothing but problems - those people get cracked with the Asshole Stick right off the bat, and sent packing. As for spelling and grammar... I think that's something that we'd probably have to approach on a case-by-case basis really, depending on how extreme the situation is. Also, could you guys maybe define NSFW content? Because sometimes I know that I, and some other members, may post pics that have some foul language, or maybe even mildly suggestive themes, in threads such as the Funny Pony Pics thread. http://mlpforums.com/topic/28252-love-tolerance-and-a-preview-of-things-to-come/page__st__80#entry659807 That post does a good job of covering people's concerns about what we consider NSFW content to be, I think. RazzyJam 1,519 August 20, 2012 Share August 20, 2012 Character minimum violations are so high because you have to blatantly and knowingly disregard our rules in order to get a warning for it. "I see an automated system in place to prevent the behavior that I am presently engaging in - I shall attempt to route around it with random character spam" Abusive behavior is, to be completely blunt, being a prick. You can be a prick in a blunt manner, or by trying to be a subtle troll. There are an infinite number of ways to be a disruptive prick, and it's impossible to list them all out, to be honest. Wait so even If i can remain on topic and answer in under the character minimum, the spam makes me a prick? Riley was here

Terra the Tomekeeper 49 August 29, 2012 Share August 29, 2012 Without further ado, this is what we are presently looking at. Note that these numbers are subject to change prior to implementation. Pointless/Off-topic posts: 35 points Backseat moderating: 100 points Character minimum violation: 125 points Advertising: 175 Abusive behavior: 250 points Suggestive/borderline NSFW content: 400 points NSFW content: 750 points Okay, that sounds pretty fair. Do something foolish, or bad, and you get reprimanded/warned. But I have a question, regarding one of those violations. I recently had a post hidden by a mod, stating "Do not bypass the 100 character minimum limit" (Can't quite remember the whole quote, but that's close enough.) I just want to be absolutely clear on how I violated it. (So I can avoid doing this again.) I was typing my post and put something in parentheses... something of "darn character limit." Only as a slight annoyance, really. So... was that the reason it was hidden? If so, won't do that again. (Sheesh, sorry my post was so long. ) Crush. Kill. Destroy. Swag.
