movies/tv WWE- Real or not, the controversy.

So, if you are into Wrestling, such as I am, you have seen people like this before-

post-242-0-58321100-1344961266_thumb.jpg

I cannot tell you how ignorant these claims are. So you're telling me that if you enjoy the WWE, you are automaticly 10 years of age? Or because they wear tights, it's wrong?

Ok, so here is a sport where the participants wear tights, yet no one screams "LOLGAY"

The Olympics. It's a sport, people wear tights. No one turns away because of it. Football, you wear tights. Volleyball. And many other sports require you to wear tights. So that excuse is just so off.

The ancient Gladiator fights were of pure violence and fighting. In a way, they were scripted and staged because the people who went into the fight knew that they were going to die. It may of been a real fight, but the outcome was always the same.

And for the WWE being fake-

Of course it is fake. It is Television. Every other show on TV that claims to be "real" is always fake. WWE is no exception. But there is a line between "fake" and "real".

The stunts in WWE may be staged, but they are very well real. It takes practice to do what they do, and to do it in a safe manner. Take lifting a large man for an example. If not careful, you could very well break something in the spinal region. If you tried to lift a large man in everyday life, you could get hurt. But the men in WWE practice for this, practice the ways to be safe.

The fights in WWE are scripted. This is a well known fact. But in that scripted fight, there is a large amount of danger available to the people involved. They must do every action correctly to the script, or they could end up very well injured. But this does not make them fake, not in the slightest. They are scripted to keep everything safe. If this was "real" and an all out brawl between people, the sport would be illegal. It wouldn't be safe.

I explain it in short here, on a fb page-

(I copy pasted the wrong comments, but you get my point.)

So, in short-

The WWE is entertainment. It has elements of actuality, while keeping the event safe for the users to enjoy. Kind of like a play, except people are beating each other up. And for people to say that it is "fake" so it is stupid-

Well, tell me one show that is absolutely real and holds actual danger, and I might agree with you.

I completely agree. i ain't a fan, but it's not fake. The fight are staged and planned out, but still. The moves and stuff are all real.

Some elements are fake, but the strength, agility, stamina, and athleticism it takes to put on a match is real. Wrestlers are trained to absorb certain moves ("selling"), so if a wrestler isn't great at "selling" it can look fake and cheap. Selling is for wrestlers to stay safe and not get injured. The results are scripted, the promos are scripted, but the strength is real.

It's fake and scripted, I've never been into wrestling or sports let alone, and I can tell most the time it's fake.

Did you even take the time to read the OP?

Something tells me you just saw the title, and just HAD to post that picture that you feel may be relevant.

As for a show thats real and holds danger there are a few shows on animal planet that have danger with snakes and whatnot.

As for WWE being fake it is fake but that doesnt make it less entertaining. I like to watch tv shows like the big bang theory and of course the legendary johnny bravo. They are both fake but are still entertaining. The only show (or should I say sport.) That I would ever watch is nascar simply becasue watching cars go around and around is boring. I wanna see some crashes!!!

See, I'm Greed. I want everything you can think of. Money and women, power and SEX. I want everything this world's selling! and immortality's topping the list!

well i'll say this, when we were kid and first saw wrestling we all though it was real and we grew up believing that and then the truth gets out kinda like there is no Santa or tooth fairy.

and then when were older we see that its all scripted but the wrestlers take real hits sometimes and grapples, and it all just entertainment now. I just think of them as an episode now-days and there kinda repeating.

in the end its all entertainment whether you still enjoy it or not that's fine just don't ruin the enjoyment of the people who do.

As my brother says, we all know it's fake. The fun is in seeing a match so good that you forget that fact.

I remember when I was little I used to deny that it was fake and as I got older it kinda depressed me and I lost interest for a little while because I knew it was fake. Then I realized that like many things in life, the fun is in knowing it is but pretending it isn't.

Anyone who has a problem with people who like wrestling just has a desperate desire to prove that they're too smart to be tricked.

Also, as was stated previously, wrestlers do a damn good job selling moves and they really do put their bodies through hell out there. Just because it's scripted doesn't mean that they aren't taking hits and that bad things can't happen.

WWE is more entertainment than pure wrestling so they're going to be more theatrical.

If you want pure wrestling without the frills and fireworks and glitz, check out some independent federations (known as the Indies):

Ring of Honor, CHIKARA, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, Dragon Gate USA

As you said even "reality" shows are all scripted but people still watch that without complaint about being fake. Austin screwed up his neck from a move that was in the scripted finish, Sid Vicuos botching his diving big boot, or even Hayabusa slipping on his asai moonsault and paralyzing himself. What they do in the ring is far from fake, everything on the mic is script. Even when I was a kid I knew it was all faked, but I still watched it because I enjoyed the performance the wrestlers put on day in and day out. When I was younger I wanted to be a wrestler but now as I'm older I know I could never do what these people do in terms of taking bums over and over.

I kind of just let people say what they want to say about it and move on, no point in feeding the fire right. : )

I never really liked WWE but I have never gone out of my way to say that it is gay or stupid. People have their own interests which means they have their own preferences on entertainment. People just need to respect that just because something isn't entertaining or appealing to them doesn't give them the right to condemn the whole thing entirely and flame other people for liking what they don't like.

There's a difference between fake and choreographed. The only way somebody could possibly call it fake is if they denied that the outcomes were predetermined. That was the case at one time, but ever since the mid-80s when Vince McMahon called it "sports-entertainment" that practice stopped. They're open about it being a show now, so calling it fake is as insubstantial as criticizing a play for having the lead actor portraying somebody of a different race or another sexual orientation rather than for his performance of the role. Nobody would do that. Wrestlers put a lot of hard work, sacrifice, and risk into every match. Even if you don't consider it a sport, you can't deny that they're the most hardcore of athletes. They devote more to their business and have more taken out of them than in any other sport. Professional wrestling sees more injuries, permanent handicaps, and fatalities than football, rugby, or anything else you could think of, and wrestlers see less of their families than any other kind of athlete.

I think the WWF/WWE's disclaimer on DVD releases describes the business perfectly, "Yes, this is entertainment. But the hazards are real." I would wager anything that at least 97% of people who are critical of it as being "fake" couldn't handle the stress of the job even if they wanted it.

I love wrestling and I've been a fan for 14 years. Prearranged? Sure, it has to be the way they do it. But it's as hard on your body as any "real" full-contact sport. I have great respect for anyone who can do it well, because it's one of the toughest kinds of performance art in the world. I could never do it.

I like wrestling. Shure *grammar mistake on purpose*, I like it less than when I was 9-10.

Staged? Sure. Prearranged? Maybe. TOTALLY FAKE AND GAY? No. I mean some of the punches might be fake, but the DX-RKO match here demonstrates how the fight/blood/injuries aren't "FAAAAKE":
