What would you like to see in a time skip episode.

If the writers were to make a time skip episode what would you like to see in it? I would like it to focus on the cmc, with other fillys/colts as side charicters,

And Spike would look slightly older, but not by much, also pound and pumpkin cake would be in school.

Dr. Hooves, that is the only answer. Otherwise young adult CMC, middle-aged Mane 6, young adult Spike, and maybe some Mane 6 children.

At first as I read it I thought it was a bad idea, then I thought of the possibilities. I think that would be a pretty good episode if it was realistic (by show terms of course) how they got there. They could be wondering what their cutie marks would be and they could try and convince Twilight to send them forward in time.

Spike travels to the future to find Rainbow Dash has finally made it into the Wonderbolts, but only lives FOR her duty. The Cutie Mark Crusaders have earned their cutie marks, but have separated into their own respective talents/occupations. As a result, everypony has been influenced into taking new paths, such as Fluttershy being overwhelmed by the never-ending care-taking of animals, Applajack has continued to buck apples (though her dedication to her work has consumed her life), Pinkie Pie has become a diabetic and Twilight Sparkle is in a mental institution for having finally snapped into a state of unfathomable madness. Celestia has left to "find herself" and Luna is growing tired of ruling, yet she is finally dating. Rarity now lives in Canterlot as a fashion designer, but her lack of "true" friends is beginning to make itself apparent. Past Spike finds that Future Spike has left Ponyville years before, and now the young dragon must figure out what exactly went wrong for everything to end up this way.

 

Well, I came up with this on the top of my head. But now I smell a fanfic idea...

How about saving this for a movie? When a threat much larger than Discord or the Changelings is up in the air and Twilight Sparkle, having drifted apart from the Mane 6 over time (some factors being gradually not being around them, and perhaps getting a new occupation), thus forgetting a lot of lessons, and then she and her friends will have to team up in order to stop whatever that's happening?

 

Of course, that might be a real series finale. I wouldn't go with this idea for the time being.

Trixie stages a coup using dark magic taught to her by the spirits of Discord and Nightmare Moon to usurp Princess Celestia as the ruler of Equestria and it's up to the Mane 6 to stop her but their obligations such as jobs and family prevent them from doing so, so it's up to the adult CMC plus other next gen ponies to stop her with the Mane 6's help.

i would like to see a back in time episode, like when the Alicorn's first came to equestria or maybe further back, i would like to see a episode with Clover the Clever (looking exactly like Trixie) or one with Starswell the bearded.

 

i always seem to find trips to the past rather then trips to the future because there is always a possibility to change the future, by simply knowing it.

To be clear a time skip episode doesn't have to involve time travel, it can be a simple episode set 5 or so years in the future.

Things like that should really be reserved for anime and other cartoons that show episodes in chronological order. It's pretty obvious that the episodes aren't in chronological order, after all. If there suddenly was a 5-year timeskip then it switched back to normal next episode, that would be really weird. If it was a permanent thing, that would be a major risk to take since the show might lose a lot of viewers depending on how it's executed.

 

I think a logical reason for a time skip is a great idea, though. As mentioned earlier, an episode where the CMC ask Twilight to send them into the future to see what cutie marks they'll get would work really well - I can just imagine them meeting the future versions of the different characters while searching for their future selves, then Twilight is unable to channel the spell for long enough or something and they're brought back to the present. There wouldn't really be a friendship-related morale, but something like "live in the present" might work just as well.

I'd like to see Professor Sparkle (and her snooty teaching assistant Trixie??) teaching magic to a teenage Pumpkin Cake. That would be really interesting, and perhaps a nice lead in to G5! As long as its only for one episode, I'd be fine with it. Seeing the future for one episode is cool, but completely abandoning the current time would be a huge disappointment. I love this show and its characters for who they are, not who they are going to be.

In my mind, why mess up something that's working (Young Justice )
