How do you think the show would be if it was "derpyless"?

Twice? Well that is because you probably don't look for her... Overrated? Yes, i would agree. also, like what JusttooxrosTS just posted, Her fanfics, fanart, etc. would be gone, and i really enjoy those. Also, this is all just IMO.

Derpy is the "living embodiment of love and tolerance"? I thought that was the claim to fame of the Mane Six.

 

Of course the show would be just as popular without Derpy-- they weren't by and large attracted to it because of a single character. I'm sure the fans would have found another character to label as the lovable clumsy/"different" one, though such a character might be vague at best (provided that the character archetype of Derpy, and not just the pegasus herself were also eliminated).

 

Given that thought, I'd be a bit disappointed if I knew Derpy existed but was cut from production because I could have seen a lot of potential for that character, but I still would certainly watch the show.

The same, Derpy didn't make this show great. Lauren Faust, Jayson Thiesson, Megan McCarthy, Daniel Ingram and rest of the crew did. Derpy didn't make this fandom great, we did. As fun as she is, she matters not in the grand scheme of things.

I think the show would still be great, but I have a Derpy on my wall and I love to look for her in the background so I would defiantly miss that. If she were to just disappear I think the show would take a minor hit but nothing too significant.

Not much would change to be honest.

Another character would have been given the spotlight.

Probably lyra since she was pretty popular for the way she sits.

So the gag would probably be her sitting or doing humany things throught the episodes .

Anyway, without Derpy (I still call her Ditzy....) Where would the muffins be? We wouldn't have the Muffin Queen.

Derpy was right there up until even the last episode aired. You can see her in the background when Queen Chrysalis and Cadance are talking.

 

The only appearance of Derpy that really caught my eye was in "A Friend in Deed" when she was in the snowglobe. Sorry, Pinkie Pie, you got out-Pinkied in that scene. Apart from that, I don't feel any personal connection with the character, and I get a little bit annoyed at fans who build these elaborate fancies over what started out as a simple animation error. I now feel like the show's creative process is being subverted by fans' expectations, which I really disagree with. I guess I will just have to accept it, since I can't change it.

 

Now please excuse me while I go work on my "Derpy takes over Equestria" fanfiction.

I would not mind at all, The show won't loose humor if she left, Derpy can't even be a favorite pony she has no personality. But she still is pretty damn cute.

Derpy Hooves isn't one of my favourites so I don't really care if she just somehow disappeared away from the show.

 

I know there are many people who loves her but I have no idea why.

 

I like the character simply because it was one of the first times that I've ever heard of any producing team doing such a thing. Usually if a derpy like character shows up in a show, the producers will just ignore it. For me it's unheard of for a fanbase to name a character and then have the producers use that name and feature, what was a mistake, later in the show. There isn't really much to the character, it's just what it symbolizes.

 

The show would still be fine, it just wouldn't seem as personal.

Yeah, she's just a little addition to the show that makes as all feel good. I personally like Derpy because she represents my clutzy side. But she's still a backround character. Unless she has a major/minor affect on the plot, she wouldn't make much difference if she wasn't around.

For me, it wouldn't be much different. I mean it's awesome that we get to see her often as a recurring gag, a gesture made to fans by the creators, but her absence wouldn't really affect my viewing of the show to a noticeable degree. Now, if they were to remove all the fan targeted background ponies, this would make the show somewhat less appealing. As it would be an indicator of the abandoning of the fanbase.

Meh. I wouldn't really be bothered. Derped Derpy Hooves isn't best derped pony anyway. Why? Because Fluttershy has best derp.

I think the show itself wouldn't change much. The fans, yeah, they always change, but because she's only been given a key role twice, there wouldn't be any significant difference to the story.

Derpy/Ditzy is really just a bonus.

 

When I started watching, I had no idea about her presence or her massive fanbase.

I just saw her every so often and giggled at the cross-eyed pony (Especially her moment in the halloween episode) :3

Honestly it would make zero difference for me. I hadn't even seen derpy until the last round up. Some people would probably not even want to watch without derpy. However, I really don't care.
