What do you look for when adding friends on the Forums? Don't give any hate on this thread please! This is all about friendship and spreading the love!

Hmmm, I don't particularly look for anything.

 

I mean, it's not like I'm actively searching for a friend. Sure, I might come across someone that's fun to talk to, but I have no particular criteria to gain my friendship. If you mean my friends list, basically it's "Have I seen you before? Yes? Cool, you're in".

I look for the latest and greatest of pony news and art. Making a friend or two is just a well received perk. These forums are fun to read and the topic could not be more if they tried!

Well the catch with me is, my friends list is full of tons of people I never really talk to. Random people add me and I always say yes, just because it doesn't really matter, and I have no reason to deny someone, that's mean in my opinion. My 'actual' friends whom I talk to a lot, I look for humor similar to mine, and a personality that strikes my fancy in way shape or form, usually.

If they add me I go through this process:

 

if (they have spoken to me before && I don't dislike them)

Accept friendship request

}

Accept friendship request

}

deny friendship request

}

Also, I rarely send friend requests. It's usually the other way around. Although to be honest, the friend system is kinda useless xD

I spend 99.9% of my time on the front page. If it isn't in the top 5 status updates at that time, then I will miss it. I don't think I've clicked on the "friend's status" tab ever xD

 

Although I guess if you do that then the friend system isn't entirely useless.

 

It also helps me decide whether or not I'm going to say happy birthday to a particular user, but only slightly.

Really, I try and accept anyone and everyone, as long as I don't think they'll be a troll or really rude or crude or something of that nature.

I actually consider you all my friends and adding you all is pointless so I don't really use the friend system. I will accept any friend invitations but I still react the same way to everyone I've spoken too.

The only exception is if I don't like you (which is a hard thing to achieve), then you get demoted to "just another member". I try not to make any enemies because I believe this is a forum of love and friendship.

Also, when it comes to the friendlist i really don't care. What i mean by that is i have a lot of friends that are not on that list.

Friendlist if meant for those who want to stalk another member :3

When it comes to friends on these forums, I don't really actively seek it out. It's just one of those things that happens on it's own, ya know?

 

Of course I don't have many friends on my friends list and most of them I don't know at all. I guess I'm a social reject after all ;_;

For the friend's list: I'm usually lenient, but I go in and wipe it out if I don't remember why I friended the person in the first place or if they've become inactive on the forums. I don't like clutter. Otherwise, I'll befriend anyone I've had several friendly interactions with. But I don't send out friend requests. They get sent to me.

 

For actual friendliness, I don't seek anyone out either. They all come to me. They add me on Skype, I accept if I know them from the forums. And if we end up having extremely frequent conversations all the time (and I mean EXTREMELY frequent), then we become friends. The thing about me is I only consider close friends to be friends. I don't consider friendship in the same sense of the word. People I don't really talk to all that much, but still have a friendly relationship with, I call acquaintances.

 

Using my definition of the word friend, I only have three forum friendships.

 

Though I have various acquaintances.

I like to get to know people & see if they have similar intrests with me. I like to have conversations with others to see how they are doing etc... all in all it is really awesome getting to meet others and making new friends on the forums!

I have my friend requests set to auto so if anyone who wants to add me as a friend can if they wish.

 

I have no restrictions really, I see no reason too. I find it as a way to try to get to know others a little more, plus I just love making/having friends without having some sort of special criteria. Unless something bad happens that requires me to remove them.

the friend system is useless in my opinion, there's no privilege or advantage when you add a user as a friend, you still can pm, participate on status updates and interact on the forums with people who aren't friends with you.

And, well, I've been added as a friend for no reason by other people, and I really can't bring myself to deny the friend request, because I feel super flattered that someone wants to add me and I would feel bad for the other person if I deny their request

I actually cleaned out my list and denied a whole lot of requests, I rather not feel like I have to say I'm friends with everyone even though you're not even in any of my social circles. As such I cleared out my Skype and my Steam friends list a little.

 

It seems I have a lot of people I just never talk to, like actually never.

I am not usually the one who sends friend requests, but when I add a friend, it is because it has Honey Puff qualities, and common interests but I am not really the one adding :/

99% of the ponies on my list added me, and I don't even talk to most of them so the friends list doesn't do too much for me.

 

However if I notice somepony has a sense of humor and enjoys joking around I'll add them to my list.

 

Really like somepony said it's a MLP Forum full of bronies.. why would you not want to add friends?

This forum is so incredibly amazing that I feel it's alright to keep the "allow me to approve friendship requests first" box unchecked. The only person I've actually took the time to send a friend request to is Bohtty, and he accepted, amazingly. I don't like to add people, myself, because I'm too shy/insecure/awkward.

I've only ever added 2 people to my friends list on my own initiative. One was one my first day, and the user is since inactive, and the other guy is way out of my league. Everyone else on the list added me. Also, if you do not post at least 100 times in CC everyday, chances are I don't know you.
