Clearly the best video game character for president would be Porky, from the Earthbound/Mother series.

 

He would give joy to the people, in the form of Happy Boxes, to increase the population's morale, and definitely not for any shady reasons such as mind control.

 

He would pay attention to wildlife problems, such as endangered species, by giving the species mechanical upgrades and turning them into chimeras, to make them adapt to their new environments and defend themselves from extinction.

 

He would do something about the various parties of four children who run around buying and using illegal explosives and causing property damage and assaulting people and animals with baseball bats, yo-yos and various other household items.

 

He would combat such threats to national security as...

 

1: Lack of massive, robotic statues of himself.

 

2: Hippies not owning rulers and toothbrushes

 

3: Rampant cases of people having free will.
