gaming Dance Dance Revolution / DDR Fan Thread

Recommended Posts

I decided to make this thread for me and anyone else who is a fan of Dance Dance Revolution, In The Groove 2, Stepmania, or anything related. So if you have anything DDR related, post it here!

I just got back from the arcade today, and decided to film a couple of songs.

I just started playing again recently after a two year hiatus (due to leg injury), so this is me sucking as of now :P

Gah! I LOVE DDR! It's one of my favorite Wii games! It's a lot more fun to play now that I have a metal mat, more like the arcade ones, but thinner, instead of the flimsy, fold-up fabric-y ones. There aren't many arcades around where I live, so home is one of the only places I can play. I was fairly good last time I played. (Well, I could beat most songs on Expert on my first attempt, but I'm not as good as a lot of people I've seen.)

AWW FUKKEN YEAH

I can't wait to get me either a video camera or a web cam so I can record myself playing DDR at home

*sigh* I guess in the meantime I'll just settle for pictures of my latest DDR achievements whenever I get to it

Awesome! I'm still trying to find a usb drive that I can get to work, so that i can start playing pony remix songs at the arcade....the three drives that I have don't work :/

I haven't played it in a while, but I built a pair of all metal dance mats just like the arcade with neon and everything. That's how much I love that game. It's really fun to play as one person using both pads. Just make sure it's not on those fabric mats...

Thanks for showing me a bunch of cool new songs that I will try, but will probably ultimately fail in the long run... (maybe someday I will pass one of those:) )

Not sure if serious or being smartalek

If serious, you are very welcome and I have faith that you WILL pass those one of these days

If smartalek I am so sorry however,

I STILL believe that you will pass one of those one of these days :)

I'll have to try, but it can get pretty tough without breaking the bank at the arcade (unless I decided to get a new dancepad sometime) :P

Thank's for the encouragement though! :)

I would go for getting a new dancepad for practice

As much as I love going to the arcade it's pretty much just for show

I really wouldn't recommend using the arcade for practice as like you have said

It can get EXTREMELY expensive and it's really not worth it to be perfectly honest

I will probably end up getting a new one anyway. Now I just have to start looking for a really good metal one. I really liked the Cobalt Flux ones, but I think they discontinued them.

Hmmm...I was able to pass Paranoia Rebirth, Aeronova...but not Dead End...why does the game play me like that?! Also, am I using songs that are WAY to old and nobody knows them anymore? Because the 3rd remix is all there is in Argentina here...

Would this happen to include Stepmania, by any chance? Because I have loads of stuff for that. I have a brony pack and the entirety of Mungyodance 2 and 3.

Regular DDR, however, is too much. That will kill me. I can't do that much exercise. I just can't.

Of course it does! I actually find myself playing stepmania than ddr most of the time actually (Probably due to me not having a dance pad at the moment). I actually just changed the thread description to include anything that is DDR,ITG, or SM related.

What's ITG? Also, never forget Pump it Up! (Yes, I'm going to bother you till Tartarus for that  ).

Wait, what's the difference between Stepmania and DDR? Can you, or someone else, enlighten me?

I absolutely loved DDR as a kid, I always played "Extreme 2", it's songs were awesome and overall the game is probably the best exercise I got throughout most of my childhood, if not the majority. Then the PS3 came, and I couldn't play it on there, so now I can only play it when I hook my PS2 up, but I still love it to this day.

Ok, ITG is "In The Groove". It's basically the same thing as DDR, but the song list is a lot more challenging and is geared to the more experienced player (or people who find DDR songs to be too easy.) You can also use a USB stick to bring your own custom songs (on the arcade machine), and the pads for the arcade machine are built a lot better and are more sensitive.

(The videos that I have on the start of this topic is actually a ITG machine).

And Stepmania is basically like a virtual DDR player for your computer. It's free, and you can download songs from online to play on your keyboard. Here is the website:

Eeyyup.

This song comes in mind for me:

but I wouldn't be surprised if someone could easily pass it on a machine (i've seen some pretty insane people in my life).

And I thought Requiem looked impossible! Wow...that's insane. But yeah, we of all people should know, that if there's a type that can easily kickass when insane, are the dancer players. This much, I know for experience, considering I've seen people do some of those double board songs without even LOOKING at the arrows and doing actual dancing...it's awesome, but it scares you  .

The new StepMania Trotpack was just released, so I HAAAD to go to the arcade to play a few of the new songs myself.

I decided to film it for the pure embarrassment of myself :P

Here is the first song that I filmed (Discord - The Living Tombstone Remix)

and the second one is Pinkie's Theme from Fighting is Magic.

  • 1 year later...

My DDR collection ranges all the way back to Max (6th mix) and all the way to Universe 3! In terms of skill I'm average overall, and above average on a curve, since most people who play DDR really don't dedicate themselves, they just look at it in an arcade and give it a shot.

Yes! I've been waiting for a thread like this to pop up. Went to the arcade and nearly AAA'ed a song, but a dang freeze arrow did regiester and let go too early...:(
