Garth went down the tunnel. Taking turns at intersections. He left a hole in the wall with his claws at every intersection so that anypony could follow. "This is getting us nowhere," he said.

The west road didn't contain many turns. It was rather straight except for one or two bends.

 

"Funny." Fa thought. "If this is a maze, where are all them intersections and dead ends?"

Suddenly Garth and Chill come to a large, ornate door. The door is locked, but looks important.

 

Suddenly a puzzle box appears in front of Fa. Underneath it is a letter. "It will only open when the way is clear."

Garth looks up at the ornate door. He tries to open it: locked. He tries to break it: too think. He knocks loudly on the door and sits down in the tunnel, waiting for something to happen.

(There is nothing wrong with having more than one character at a time. Unless you just want to simplify things. I need to start planning some challenges. Preferably ones to cause self reflection and character advancement. I am really just winging it right now. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Like I said, "You create the maze". It is meant to cause each character to find their way.)

Fa looks at the box. "What is that supposed to mean? I've been walking down clear paths since we started." She tried to pry open the puzzle box but the cover wouldn't budge. She just tossed it onto her back and continued walking down the corridor.

 

The lane seemed endless. Fa continued walking and walking. As soon as she knelt down to take a rest, there it was. A fork in the road. For being left-hoofed, or just out of a dumb decision, Fa took the left road.

 

((I'm sorry, but what is a puzzle box supposed to be or do??))

(I just want to simplify things mostly. Also, the reason I didn't make the door interact was because of this: "You must describe your journey through the maze. I will give you challenges, give you choices, throw traps and monsters, etc" from your first post. I want to give you a chance to throw something more if you want to or the other ponies a chance to interact with the door. If neither, then I'll create an interaction.)

(To Linguz: The door is a goal. There is nothing you can do about it now. You have to find a way to try and open it.

 

To St. Pinkie: A puzzle box is a small box that holds some secret inside. Usually there is some secret way to open it, known only to the owner. However, this is a magic puzzle box that will only open when the conditions are met.)

 

HappyMaskPony comes to a room filled with statues. There are six in all. None of the statues have faces. Each statue has a symbol at the base. Each one represents a different element. Fire, Water, Earth, Sky, Light, and Shadow. The loud commotion he had heard was the statues rising into place by some sort of mechanism.

After waiting for a bit, Garth decided that the door wouldn't open without a key and retraced his steps to the last intersection. Once there, he took another path.

description: The young captain of the Gokai Galleon and team leader. Though he is the team leader, Captain Marvelous is an unpredictable sort of character who does reckless things to satisfy his curiosity, stating his actions as what any pirate would do in that particular moment. It was then that Marvelous woke up, feeling like someone shoved a saber deep into his skull. His hands went straight to his temple; the last thing he could recall was him and his crew was attacked by the Zangyack pirates. Where he was now, he had no idea.

 

His eyes darted the room that he was in, It had walls that went so high that he couldn't even see the top. There was only one path he could go, and that was straight forward. Voices, onces of which he hadn't head, were coming from the same direction.

 

Opening up his jacket, Marvelous made sure that everything was still with him. "Lets make a show of it!" He smirked, as he walked down the hall way towards the voices.

Fa continued her walk down the left road. The puzzle box she carried on her back kept reminding her. "Clear road? I don't get it."

 

That was when she stumbled and fell down. The floor was slippery as if it were made of soap. Friction became extremely low. Fa couldn't walk without bumping into something. The puzzle box lipped off her back and slid across the room where there were two ropes were hanging from the sky.

 

Slipping and sliding, Madam Fa rose to her feet and began to skate her way to the ropes. She jumped onto the puzzle box without thinking and was unable to stop. In panic, she grabbed onto the rope on the left with her mouth and yanked it to try to stop.

The Happy Mask Pony recognizes the statues as a sort of puzzle. He had seen many puzzles in his quest to find his most powerful mask. Absently he looks back at his pack filled with masks, thinking of that certain mask. No. This isn't the time to use it. He reaches into his bag and pulls out the mask of truth, puts it on, and turns towards the statues once again. What he sees is rather interesting.

(To HappyMaskPony) The is a message on the ground, between of the pony statues. "These poor ponies are blind, deaf, and dumb. Only you can help them find their faces. Help the fires of creativity. Help the freedom of air. Help the stubbornness of earth. Help the gentleness of water. One is lost in the darkness. Help them find the light. One has known only light. Help her share her enlightenment with the others." Then, using the mask of truth, he sees something else. The statues of water and air are pegasi, and the statues of fire and light are unicorns. Earth and darkness are earth ponies.

After searching the entire side of this tunnel, Garth finds only dead ends and comes back to the ornate door. He tried to push it open again and it did. (He needed to find all the dead ends before it would open). As the door opened, something behind it became visible. It moved.

To Linguz: Inside the door was a large room. On either side, there were several large enterances, and through the middle, in front of Garth was a long corridor. At the end of the corridor was a pedistal with an orange mask on it (Applejack's face, but can't see that yet). Suddenly, from one enterance to another, a large boulder rolled through the corridor. Another rolled through closer to Garth. The only way to reach the mask was to go through the corridor while avoiding boulders. What will you do?

Garth sits down at the ornate door, studying the pattern of the boulders. He does this for several days because I am going to the beach for that long.

Lyra, who has been following Garth, is stumped by the weird door. She tells Garth that she'll try to find a different way out, and turns around. As she goes back, she sees an entrance that she didn't see on the way there. She goes through to see Happymaskpony studying some statues. She walks up and asks "what are those? should we touch them? Something bad may happen..."

(Sorry, I was visiting relatives and I didn't have time to post yesterday. I might not post tomorrow either because of travelling).

 

All the ponies (and griffin) had gone their seperate ways. Bon Bon felt a small chill as she realized she was alone in the maze, and she still had no idea as to what she had to do, or why she was there.

 

Bon Bon realized that she was just wasting time standing there, so she set off down a random path, with the thought that eventually she would find something if she kept going firmly set in her mind.

After several hours of walking, Bon Bon was really starting to feel the pressure of the maze. A tiny voice in her head suggested that there might not even be an end to this horrible place. She quickly pushed the thought out of her head. Thoughts like that will only cause trouble, she chided herself.

 

Suddenly, she stopped dead in her tracks. Her jaw hit the floor and her mind refused to believe what her eyes saw right in front of her.

To Bon Bon: There was a giant lake in a massive chamber in the lake. In the center of the lake was a small island. Near Bon Bon was a pier with a small canoe. Will you go to the island, or turn back?

A lake? But, that makes no sense! Why is there a lake here? And more importantly, who could have constructed such a huge maze? That lake must be miles long!

 

Bon Bon was starting to seriously wonder about the purpose of this maze. There was just no way there could be a lake that size in a maze - she had trouble wrapping her mind around it.

 

Curiosity bested her, and Bon Bon began to slowly walk towards the lake. Thoughts were racing through her head. Suddenly, something occured to her.

 

I still don't know what I'm doing here. I woke up with no memory of how I got here. And now, there's a lake... Something's wrong here. I can't trust the maze!

 

Bon Bon turned around and walked off. As she rounded a corner, she heaved an exasperated sigh and turned around, back to the lake. She knew she shouldn't get in the canoe and her mind was giving red flags about the lake, but she didn't care. If anything was going to happen, it would be on that island.

 

She stepped across the pier and into the canoe. She grasped the wooden paddle on board and began paddling, wondering what was in store for her on the island...

(To Bon Bon: In the center on the island is a stone pedistal with a Fluttershy Mask on it. In order to take the mask, some form of kindness must be shown.)

The Happy Mask Pony removes his mask, being startled by his newfound company. He turns to her and smiles.

"Ah, hello there! It's nice to finally have company again. It's been too long... But anyways, this here is a puzzle. A particular puzzle that only I can solve. These ponies all lack one thing. Their face. Their identity. Without them, they're nopony. I can give them a face. I can give them an identity. It's sort of a... Gift, of mine."

He turns back to face the statues once more, bringing out six masks from his oversized bag. He begins his strange ritual.

"For the passion of fire, I give the spirit of the revolutionary. He will bring upon a great resistance to injustice."

The Happy Mask Pony places the first mask on the fire statue. The mask melds into the blank area of its head, taking the face for its own. He continues.

"For the freedom embodied in air, I give the spirit of the wanderer. She is bound by no law or command.

For the stubborn nature of the earth, I give the spirit of the soldier. He will fight until his demise for his friends.

For the gentle flow of the water, I give the spirit of the healer. No barrier can hold back her desire to bring help to the wounded.

For the one lost in darkness, I give the spirit of the disciple. He has seen the light and follows it with all he is.

And finally, to the brilliance of the light, I give the spirit of the teacher. She spreads the ways of good through any turmoil.

Wear these spirits well, for they will guide you through your new life."

The Happy Mask Pony finishes placing the masks onto their respective elements, stepping back to admire his work. He feels a soft presence in the air slowly growing.
