[PMV] Hotel California

Fillies and Gentlecolts, I'd like to share my very first PMV with you .

It took me roughly a month of very lazy work, and I really enjoyed it

Editing pony videos is a very relaxing way of productively unproductive work,

and if you are wondering whatever to give it a try or not, I can reccomend it wholly

 

But anyway, you came here for the video, right ? So, here it is :

Note : The quality is quite bad for about the first 30 seconds, it took me roughly these 30 secs of footage to learn not to save in low quality avi The quality gets better after the 30 secs.

With this video, I'd like to thank @, and @@thegoodhen for being ones of the most awesome people I have ever met, being great friends and for bringing me endless cheer over the last month :3

Another thanks goes to the brony community as whole, for improving my life a lot over the summer

Very nice! Especially for a first. Plus it's a very very good song to do a PMV to, and it's one I have not seen done. So you did a fantastic job on it. I love the one line "Kill the beast" with Celestia and Chrysalis.

That was pretty much the main idea of the PMV, the one I picked this song for :3 I thought it would come out nice, and I'm very glad it did Thank you.

Awesome job, man! There is only one thing that bothers me: why without the guitar solo? I mean, this solo is pretty amazing and shouldn't be cut off. I would be better to see video for the whole song

Thanks You're right - the guitar solo is amazing. But after considering it, I decided to cut it off - I feared that I would not have enough meaningfull scenes to fill the solo and that I would have to stuff it with something random.

Looks awesome! I love it. At some points, Their was lip syncing and i like that, I'm not sure if you tried to do that. The video is great though, the way you've managed to put the images to the song is almost perfect. With a little more work, This could be a real master piece Keep up the good work, please! I'd like to see another one!

As some one who loves the eagles, I really appreciate this. Awesome song for an awesome show. Plus it has CHANGELINGS in it to so thars a major bonus. As for the pmv itself, I thought compared to the other stuff out there, it was very nice and well done, keep up the awesome work. Maybe for your next pmv, you could "beautiful day" by U2

Time to refresh this thread, it really does deserve a lot more attention!

As it came up I was still fairly new here... kinda, so I didn´t recognize it, I guess.

Just few things to say.

It is great piece of art, you would not believe how long I haven´t heard this song (why? I can´t tell)... It´s beautiful, the rhytm, the voice, the lyrics, that have a deeper meaning, not like what I will call "newer" music for lack of better words. An immortal classic, well converted into a PMV.

My admiration for the video, there might be some smaller flaws in the lip-synchronizing (if that was even meant to happen), but for the chosen scenes fit perfectly to the words sung, that is not just understandable, but of no matter at all.

Congratulations to this as a whole.

Thank you Lip sync somehow happened here and there, sometimes I'd move it to match, sometimes I'd not. I'm glad that you approve of the choice of sceenes :3 It indeed is a great song. I don't usually listen to the more on the sad scale type songs, but this one is an exception.

I guess you're right about me enjoying the music from 60-70s, though like always, I tend not to follow bands but rather pick single songs that I come across. The only exception from this so far were the Beatles, so yea, I can say that I enjoy this kind of music

While I did enjoy it, I think you constrain yourself artistically too much by trying to hunt for scenes that literally reflect the song's lyrics, especially in the first portion of the video.  I think you'd end up with a more powerful, cohesive video by sticking closer to your theme/setting (in this case Canterlot, and anything that evokes desert/oasis/faded luxury/quiet menace) even if it meant the scenes you showed seemed to ignore the lyrics.  Scenes that exhibit the spirit of the song resonate just as powerfully if not moreso than literal lyric-matching, as entertaining as that can be sometimes.

 

I loved the clip of Spike tossing away the menu after Gustav rattled on about not having the wine.  That was worth a departure.    Very nice timing.

Thank you for the feedback, I'll try to keep that in mind for my future pmvs.

I'm really glad that you liked Spike's reaction - I consider it one of the best moments of this pmv

Also, just a shout out to you guys : Currently working on my next PMV. It's ,,Pánu Bohu do oken" by Tomáš Klus. Czech, sadly, but after I finish it I'll try my best to translate (don't think I will be able to rerhyme it, though I've got a few ideas) the song so you have an idea what it is about. I'm somewhere about halfway through by now, though various influences (especially lazyness and discovery of Scrolls) might affect the finishing time
