I'm sick and tired of watching super hero movies, it would be a nice change ff they made R rated movies about supervillains and focus on their daily lives.

Wouldn't it be a bit depressing if supervillains weren't all that they were made up to be? Sure, you can give them as much backstory as you want, but most of the time they are still one-dimensional characters.

Just what we need... An avengers 2....

Lol so... Will there be a line up like, captin America 2, Thor 2, etc etc etc...

Like really... They are good movies... But, Hollywood is runing out of ideas...

Marvel, if you keep this up, I may fear that the bar will be set too high.

Looks like Iron Man 3 is shaping up to be something awesome. Given the tone they are trying to strike, it seems as if it is a plummet from the thematic height of The Avengers. By this I mean it goes from saving the world from aliens and demi-gods to just trying to survive terrors found here on Earth.

I'd love for all three upcoming films---Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier---to be homeruns. Then The Avengers 2 would be all the more sweeter.

I think that they can be made really good with a reboot and good writers, it's way more unrealistic for someone to be a superhero than a supervillain.

Agreed, I can only hope DC decides to take a page out of Marvel's playbook, especially considering Nolan's Batman trilogy is at an end; they need to find a way to tie the greater DC universe together, not just create series where each DC superhero is alone in their own universe (not that I didn't love Nolan's trilogy, nor am I not looking forward to the new Superman movie, there's just so much potential if they could find a way to make a Justice League movie work).

Now all that Marvel has to do is re-acquire the rights to Spiderman!!! I'm sick and tired of Sony owning the movie rights to such an iconic superhero (especially considering they essentially made him a hipster in the last movie  ), and would love to see him team up with the Avengers!!!

Oh, and as for Iron Man 3 itself; it looks pretty sick! I'm glad to see that it finally looks like Iron Man, in his own movies (not counting Avengers here) is going to be taking on what really appears to be a formidable opponent. Don't get me wrong, he's faced some good baddies so far, some down right nasty bastards, but IDK, I felt that the first two movies were more journeys of self-discovery and triumph over Tony Stark's own personal physical or mental demons primarily, while the bad guys were kind of secondary to an extent. This time, it really looks like the Mandarin will both be a nicely developed villain, and also that he (and whoever else comes after Stark) is going to be out for Tony's blood straight from the get-go, and I like that, although I'm still sure Tony will face his own personal demons as well; I just hope they're not the primary focus this time around. I don't know, what do you think Thereisnospoon? Do you think they've focused in the first two films primarily on Stark's personal demons, or had a nice balance between his own demons and his villains? I've just never felt that either Jeff Bridge's or Mickey Rourke's characters were really that well developed, even if they were still pretty good villains.

not rely

Captain America 2 is gonna be about the Winter soilder aka Buckey

thor 2 i dont know much about.

iron man 3 is bringing the Manderin (iron mans greatest foe) and we have the iron patriot who might actualy be norman osborn aka the green goblin but sony has he rights to that character so i don't think that will happen.

i could go on and on but people are missing the point of all this

Marvel manages to bring the detailed coninouiy from the comics and bring it to the big screen and people are complaining.

also we're getting a Rocket Racoon movie ....... i mean Guardians of the Galaxy movie

also Justice League got a date of relese, 2015.

so DC are gonna try what Marvel's done , and fail because all they can do good is batman, seriously I want a Wonderwoman movie damn it she is more intersting then batman

Just some info for yeah buddy but that isn't the Iron Patriot but is actually War Machine adapted to look like Osborn's Suit from the Extremis comic. In fact Iron Man 3's plot will be based of that comic. So with Tony being all wacked after the events of The Avengers and being infected with the Extremis virus at some point, seen in the trailer ("I can't sleep. And when I do I get nightmares...") he so gonna lose it all in this one.

yeah i knew all that already, sony has the rights to that character, Exstremis would explain how the suit just moves onto him and how hw can operate them with his mind, but whats with the marking on the back of the manderins neck? look like capt america's shield with an A in the middle.

Must be some complicated and intricate part of his character that they added for us to wonder up to the point it gets mentioned. Or other than that Mandarin must be a BIG Cap fan lolz.

Why watch the movie when I can build my own Iron Man suit?

But really, looks epic. I like how its kind of taken a darker tone. It looks like it will be epic.

Looks soooo awesome!! I can't wait for this to come out. Seems like marvel is coming out with sequels for just about every superhero movie, which is good. But sometimes, the sequels are not as good as the original.

Wow. That surely looks good. I am really really looking forward to it. It seems like Tony himself will start being less arrogant and egoistic. (The way he spoke about dat girl.) But it's hard to tell. Also, the vfx were just great!

I didn't bother with the second Iron man which i though looked like total rubbish. But the trailer for number 3 looks alright. Plus that Red, White and Blue Armour looks pretty awesome.

@@Batbrony,

The first Iron Man movie had to be about Stark facing personal adversity rather than simply strapping on his armor and blasting bad guys with repulsor rays. It provided the foundation for the whole of his character within the Marvel movie continuity. To that end, Obadiah Stane (Jeff Bridges) was a terrific villain because he embodied Stark's life prior to being humbled in Afghanistan. Even if he wasn't a villain on the scale of what Mandarin is shaping up to be, that happened to be exactly the point: Tony Stark was his own worst enemy. It came full circle once Obadiah slipped into the Iron Monger (Mark I) suit. So I have no qualms with the way Iron Man unfolded.

Iron Man 2 was rushed through production, if I remember correctly. The result was a movie which happened to be flashy and fun, yet lacked the shrapnel-filled heart of its predecessor. Case in point: the final battle against Whiplash was completely forgettable, even though the movie had taken over two hours to build up to that showdown. I have the sense the creative team wanted to balance delving deeper into Stark's psyche while having a big bad villain looming over his shoulder. The results were very inconsistent. It's truly a shame since Iron Man 2 could have been so much more interesting had the tone been more consistent.

If Iron Man 3 goes a darker, grittier route, then I hope it does so without entirely compromising the comic book premise of a genuis billionaire who builds flying armor. At the same time, however, the Marvel movies have proven themselves worthy to wrestle with more somber themes. I suspect all three of the upcoming films will share in this endeavor. If Bucky coming back as the Winter Soldier is any indication, I doubt we're going to see a ton of comic book camp.

Completely agree on the first point, and I apologize if I didn't make it clear in my first post that I don't really have any qualms with how the first Iron Man was handled, because as you said, it was an origin movie essentially, and first and foremost had to establish a lot about Tony Stark and his own character. I guess I was mostly just observing that Obadiah Stane wasn't very developed, more than critiquing it, and Iron Man remains one of the best superhero movies I've ever seen; it and Batman Begins are probably the best superhero origin movies I've ever seen, since they handle the origin of both superheroes, particularly the mental challenges and personal demons that each hero faces, so very well.

Iron Man 2, yeah, it's fun, like you said, but Whiplash was terribly forgettable; you wouldn't think so, considering his entrance into the movie is so freakin' spectacular (I mean c'mon, the guy walks into the middle of a Grand Prix race and starts slicing cars in half, how did they manage to make this guy forgettable?!?! ^_^ ), but yeah, that final showdown was so... quick, and I barely remember anything about it. Whiplash had barely more lines in that last scene than the robotic Iron Man suits that he developed, and I really don't remember anything about the character other than he really didn't like Tony Stark and he really did like his parrot... I think. Like you said, it's a shame they rushed it, cause while it was fun, it could've and should've been a lot more polished than it was, but hey, Marvel was trying to set up the Avengers movie as much as they could at the time, and considering how amazing the Avengers turned out, for any of the flaws that were in Iron Man 2, I'll forgive 'em. :D

And yeah, I definitely don't want Iron Man 3 to go too gritty or dark, because that wouldn't stay true to either Tony Stark's character, or the very comic-booky feel that Marvel has managed to have permeate through all of their recent superhero titles building up to the Avengers, and I like it. Don't get me wrong, do I like a work of art like Nolan's Batman trilogy every once in awhile, of course, but those type of stories can only work for so many superheroes. Only a handful of DC and Marvel's heroes and heroines, and certainly none of the most iconic ones, are particularly dark and brooding in a manner similar to Batman, and so only so many of them could have dark and gritty stories; that's not to say that they can't face epic and fantastic challenges of a monumental scale, but, compared to Batman (and even he, depending on the atmosphere or tone of the story, can as well), they usually have a lot more fun saving the world, even if it's still a huge burden that places great physical and mental strains upon them and their characters. So yeah, looking forward to seeing my second favorite genius, playboy, billionaire, philanthropist superhero have fun kicking some bad guy butt, saving the world, and unleashing his endless supply of snark next summer. Oh how I do love Stark's snark!
