King Sombra's Backstory Ideas?

Wait, wasn't Sombra's backstory stated in the episode?

He was a unicorn whos heart was black as night that took over the empire for personal benefits. Thats morr backstory than what Chrysalis and the changelings had

Ehh It doesn't really annoy me. Just pointing out that hus backstory in the show wasn't that small.

 

On topic:

There were some hints that King Sombra had a god complex. The fact that he forced The title king upon himself and the way he adresses others as slaves. So maybe he thought that because he is powerful he should be the ruler of everything.

Discord's comic with the CMC was spot-on, so I'm... certainly not unenthusiastic... about Sombra's.

 

But will he be a generic Large Ham, or will he be more subdued?

People like to assume that Starswirl and Discord are one and the same, but I like to think differently. Afterall, "He didn't know friendship like you did." Plus, as I said in the comment section, I'm imagining a Star Wars-esque confrontation between a revived Sombra and Alicorn Twilight that plays out something like this:

 

 

Sombra: 'It can't be...The Ascension Spell...you actually completed it!"
Twilight: "How...how do you know about that spell? That was Starswirl's unfinished masterpiece! The only record was kept in his personal spellbook!"

Sombra: *chuckles* "You mean this spellbook?" *an identical copy of Starswirl's book appears before Sombra*

Twilight: That's...!?

Sombra: "I must give Celestia credit; To completely replicate my spellbook from memory alone must have taken centuries of work. I don't now whether to call her diligent or just desperate."

Twilight: "Y-your spellbook?! That's Starswirl's!"

Sombra: *Laughs* "You don't understand, do you? I wasn't always known as "King" Sombra. No, a long time ago I was but a humble mage, traveling the world in pursuit of absolute knowledge of the arcane arts. I even developed a name for myself, named so for my rather distinctive beard."

Twilight: "N-no..."

Sombra: "Yes, you foolish mare! I am Starswirl! Sombra Starswirl!"

Why does everypony want to think Star Swirl turned evil?  He was clearly remembered as a good pony.  There is also the fact that they look nothing alike.  Star Swirl the Bearded had a white coat and a beard.  What does Sombra look like?  Oh yeah, black and clean shaven.

Personally, I want to see a villain worse that King Sombra.  Like in Star Wars, where Palpatine was the apprentice of Plagues.

 

As a matter of fact, in my fan fic, i have somepony with a darker thirst for destruction.  You could same he's equivalent to Apophis.
