i got bored in class, so i used the remainder of my time while waiting for Windows Server 2008 to finish updating my doing a bit of Photoshopping. the result? well first of all, i used this image as a base...

 

 

...and got this result:

 

 

nothing fancy, just changing the hue, adding a heck of a lot more contrast, and lastly inverting the center of the flower and giving it a bit of glow to make the plasma ball.
