My Little Pony Comic (Spoiler)

So I was wondering if anyone has read the new MLP comic yet and I wanted to know what everyone thinks of the story?

 

So here is the story. The Changelings have come back and have taken everypony in Ponyville and replaced them with Changeling. The only ones who aren't taken are the mane 6. The 6 than fight the Changelings and free everypony in town. The only ones who are missing are the CMC. It is than revealed that the Queen Chrysalis has them and if they ever want to see them again, the 6 have to come to the kingdom to get them back and they only have 3 days to do it. Their is something about a comet and it well pass over in 3 days, but more well come up about that later in time.

 

So overall this is a great comic. The story feels like a real episode, the characters act like them selfs, and there are a good amount of brony jokes in it. One of the best parts is they bring up the Canterlot Wedding episode.

 

Other funny partsA lot of background characters are in it.

 

Derpy is in it. Muffins to.

 

One of the Changelings hit's the Derpy one, so her eyes look more Derpy.

 

The Blues Brothers are in it.

 

We get to see more of the Changelings. 

 

The Changelings turn into an army of Pinkie Pie's. Kinda like a certain episode from about a week ago.

 

Rarity turns Pinkie Pies mane to look like her. So they know who the real one is.

 

Party Canon can still be used as a weapon.So has anyone else read it and what did you think about it? Let me know what you think of it and if anyone has a question about it, let me know and maybe I can help.

It's really short. I don't normally read comics, but I was able to speed through it in 15 minutes. I guess 22 pages=22 minute episode, but since I read quickly I felt kind of disappointed that there wasn't more. 

 

Other than that, it was hilarious and the artwork was amazing (and provided an awesome looking signature). I loved Katie Cook's writing and she writes so well in the character's voices. 

 

The story is nice, and I loved Chrysalis trying to deal with the CMCs among the other moments you've listed.

That is a very interesting idea! The Mane Six going to the place where the Changelings live can give us some backstory, since the comic is canon.

It was awesome. And it was hilarious. Andy Price's artwork is just awesome, so expresive, and simple, yet detailed. There's so much going on in almost every panel you just keep going back to look for more.

 

Katie Cook did an awesome job writting for the characters. Everything that was said felt like reading a script from the show. I kept reading everything in everyone's voice so perfectly in my head.

That is a very interesting idea! The Mane Six going to the place where the Changelings live can give us some backstory, since the comic is canon.

Is the comic canon? I had the impression it exists in a separate continuity, given that it covers events which are completely unmentioned in the show.

 

Hopefully the MLP comic does not become the absolute mess the Archie Sonic comic is. I doubt such will be the case; but if the comic lives on beyond the show...

But so can a fan fic. Identifying canonical events does not make the story in and of itself canonically valid.

 

I'd really want someone from the staff outright stating the comics are canon before accepting them as such.

True, but I feel that a fan-fic and a comic are 2 different things. A fan-fic is written by a fan who comes up with their own story and a comic is something that a company that owns the show wants them to make. I just feel if they are putting elements from the show in the comic it can be called canon, but hey you have your idea and I have mine. So we could both be right.

About whether if it's canon or not, Andy Price, the main artist for the comic posted this on his Deviantart page way back in July:

 As to whether or not this will be "canon", I guess in many ways that's up to what the reader decides!

 

Considering how much the comic follows the tone of the show, I would personally call it canon, but if you don't want to accept it as canon feel free to separate the comic and the show. Besides, it's probably the closest thing to canon we have besides the show itself, as it's official and affiliated with Hasbro and the show's crew, rather than with fanfiction it's not.

Does anyone know where / if the comic is avalible to be read online? I haven't found anywhere in the UK that stocks it so far and I really don't want to spend the insane amount of money needed to order it when I have no idea how good it is.

While I wish the comic was a bit longer, the story presented is superb, and I can't wait to see where they take it. The art style is fantastic, and the writing is show quality. As for the canon question, personally I'll take it as canon until it gets proven otherwise.

Did you notice she had a book called, "Why Apes Will Rule". Just something interesting, all the tiny details make the whole thing even more impressive.

 

What can I say? the story, art and characterization were superb and that's all there is to it.
