movies/tv Why doesn't Nickelodeon make an ALL 90s cartoon channel?

no. there would be no purpose to a show that showes only 90' cartoons etc. i dont think the vast majority of people who watch shows on nickelodeon, me included, would watch the shows that would be on there.

Doesn't Nicktoons and Teen Nick pretty much cover all those basis? I know I go on Teen Nick for Drake and Josh, The Amanda Show, and All That and then Nicktoons for Avatar, Ren and Stimpy, Hey Arnold, etc.

It's more of a consensus issue:

-The people that watched these shows now in their 20's-30's

-Tween's and kids are the marketable age demographic

-There would be a crap-ton of copyright issues involved with that.

-While animation is expensive and time consuming, studios have found in the last decade that live-action dramas (the likes of Hannah Montana the naked brothers band etc) are cheaper and more profitable regardless of their quality.

So no, a retro Nick channel is highly-unlikely.

I don't think that is the case, if anything it is the opposite alot of great old stuff is coming back and is being introduced to new generations like the new Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles series for example. And alot of these kids eventually come back to watch the older stuff it is based on there are some things that are just timeless and I think many of the old 90's cartoons have this quality. I would love to have an all 90's Nick channel but it is extremely unlikely just not not for the reasons you have stated.

Oh god... I remember Nick GaS. My favorite channel. I watched it like every day. THEY KILLED IT OFF MAN! Posted Image

The old Nick game shows were the shit, Double Dare 2K, Guts, Legends of The Hidden Temple, Figure it Out, Time Out, Get the Picture, and many, many more.

Also, ROBOT WARS.

I am satisfied with the 90's are All That i feel like a kid again seein it come on late at night. I dont think Nickelodeon would do it because the 90's babies are grown up now. Kids today wouldnt understand why anything was funny back then. Honestly its quite sad to see that the quality of Nick shows has tanked majorly. Its almost as if they are following what disney has been doing for a very long time. They find a pretty face and then put a brand behind it they think will sell. The content of todays shows arent what they used to be and its why kids wouldnt watch it. Back in the 90's it was about fun now its all about who is dating who. What outfit looks hot. Who is the most popular and how can i be like them? I think that you can get whatever shows they have put on DVD in a box set. And a few i think are on Netflix. As far as running a network entirely of shows from the 90's i cant see it being popular other than amongst 90's babies who arent Nickelodeons target demographic right now. It makes me feel kinda old now looking back on it.....

Nicktoons already does something like that every night at like 1-4 AM EST they show some random 90's cartoon like Rugrats, Doug,  and Hey Arnold!

I record them all plus theres the fact some episodes can be watched on the internet so theres really no point. They should just try to continue being original as they have in the 90's and create GOOD  cartoon shows (not live-action shows but i will admit Drak and Josh was pretty good)

Yay, someone else who likes drake and josh, one of the last decent sitcoms to come out of nickelodeon IMO. I wish there were more shows that focused on actually being funny instead of just flashing fancy expensive electronics and having people who act like complete morons at all times.

We have something like that in Canada. The channel is called Teletoon Retro (Teletoon being the main cartoon channel) and it's all shows from the 90's and late 80's. I don't know how popular it is exactly, but I do enjoy tuning in to it from times to times to let the nostalgia engulf me.
