I finally got my hands on Celestia/Luna coins

I finally got my Celestia and Luna coins yesterday from Akili Amethyst, and I am VERY happy with how they turned out.

General info:
Material: gold/nickel plated brass
Finish: Proof (almost mirror-like) finish on the characters, and matte (course, textured) for the background)
Price: $15 each, no longer on sale.
Size: slightly over 2 inches in diameter.

What do you guys think?

Well, those are pretty awesome. Lovely bits of metal. How heavy are they? What do you plan to do with them?

 

Also, I must say, you are might make a good toy reviewer or something of the like. Your video reminded me of a few Transformers review videos I've seen.

I'm not really sure how heavy they are at the moment, as I don't have a great way to measure that.

 

I'm a bit of a coin collector, and as far as coin designs go there probably isn't a real currency piece that is as detailed as these are, save maybe the American Silver Eagle. (Now I'm curious; I'll post a picture of the two side by side here in a little bit.) Simply put, I love them as art pieces, and I wanted to support the artist.

 

These will probably sit in my collection - not as pieces of physical value, but as a reminder of the awesome times spent in the MLP fandom. Perhaps it will spark some curiosity when I pass the collection off to a future generation, and maybe they'll come to love the show as well.

 

 

Also, I must say, you are might make a good toy reviewer or something of the like. Your video reminded me of a few Transformers review videos I've seen.

 

Hahaha, thanks. It's not my normal thing to do, so I had to record it a few times before I got it to a somewhat acceptable state. :P

Well, the final take was pretty good. Perhaps you should showcase other coins in your collection. Or maybe something else if you are interested.

Those are beautiful. I wish I knew about them while they are still on sale originally, now I have to hope I can nab one of the extras, or that more are made.

 

You may also be interested in one of these bit coins. He's out of stock at the moment, but he says he's going to be ordering more.

Oh my. Those are (tears) beautiful.

 

I would love it if there were officially licensed mech like this, perhaps called "The Bit Series," where it has the rulers of Equestria (Celestia and Luna) on old Roman empire style coins, with the Solar Empire standard on the back. Geeking out right now thinking about it.

 

(Man I have so many head merch ideas it hurts) :blink:

Good news, Alkili Amethyst is making another coin! This time, it's Twilight Sparkle and Lauren Faust's OC. The price for one coin is $15, with shipping included for North American orders, but international orders will have to add another five for shipping. It ends on January 25, so that should be enough time for you guys to get the money ready. ;)

Seriously. That looks absolutely epic and... I WANT IT DAMMIT! I'm not obsessed enough to go ahead and buy cheap toys just to have the characters in my room. I want QUALITY! Which is why I'm bummed I missed out of vinyl models of Derpy and some other character I don't remember now. That's the standard I go for. But this? This? $15 for this? HELL YES! HELL! YES!

Yep; I'm planning on getting one of those as well! ;)

 

(I have so many other things that I also have to order, but those are "necessities" instead of this hobby...I hope I have enough money. :P)

My mom has big collection of different years of coins somewhere, I don't collect coins myself.(Unless you count the money I pickup that people drop :3 ) but this is still pretty cool, and the fact its not available anymore makes it more special :).

They look pretty big and heavy also :P.

 

Ps. maybe if we ever have that brony country these would have to be the mass produced currency :D

Well, only problem with that is that it would require us to get others off some form of land, and well we don't have any other land to go to.

Even if we don't live there it would be cool to put some statues of ponies on and a small settlement. Not necessarily a permanant residence (because making a settlement is a lot less expensive than making a permanant residence)

Well now you've gotta find a bit of land that you can claim for all the bronies, then have them all agree to have you the leader, and make sure the land has enough resources for survival. And make sure you can manage an economy and government :D.

 

Might need to take some classes for that.. Alot of classes :P, and have alot of money. Or its going to be quiet a primitive country.

I will forever love when someone actually builds a statue of a pony somewhere XD. would be funny and awesome at the same time.

Idk I'm not a politician Xd. I mean you have to make good decisions that work for everybody, And manage trade effectively, and create and manage laws effectively, and do tons of paper work and denying of bills and laws and all that.

That all depends on the political system though.

Who knows. :P.

tidalkraken has released the design for the five bit coin, which he has dubbed "The Lunie". He hasn't announced the release date yet, but I'm going to be following it very closely.

In other pony coin news, another designer by the name of ZanbatouX has started a kickstarter page for a six coin set focusing on the mane six. The designs feature portraits of the main six on the obverse, and their cutie marks set against an illustration of the Elements of Harmony on the reverse. Like Akili Amethyst's kickstarter, the coins are $15 a piece, and you can buy a complete set for $90.
