StarStriker 2 January 2, 2013 Share January 2, 2013 Sad to say, nothing can last forever But, MLP can! But, let's say if there was a downfall, what do you think it would be? A change that would stop the MLP craze forever? In my opinion, it would be if they got in another head or something and, unlike when Faust left, they- say- hated bronies and/or decided to bring the show back to the actual children's show it was before :s I remember in My Little Dashie the author said the show ended after 8 seasons... Another thing to keep in mind, right? x3 So what do you think would be the ultimate downfall of MLP:FiM?
Hipstershy 4 January 2, 2013 Share January 2, 2013 It would have to be the fan base becoming bored or tired of the show without the fan base it's really nothing and probably could have ended at season 2 so hopefully with us still around the show can last quite a while
kirbyboi 588 January 2, 2013 Share January 2, 2013 Oh no, seeing MLP end would be terrible.... D:! I bet if the show did (but hopefully not) end, it would be because they ran out of ideas.... But then again, Since when does MLP run out of ideas?! So either that, or maybe they banned it for some stupid reason....but I have a feeling that MLP is going to be around for a long time. Now remember, we're only in the third season...out of 20 or 100 probably. So we have plenty of time before it happens!! :3 But I really can't think of another reason of why the show would end. It's too awesome to end now.
Leafeon 2,702 January 2, 2013 Share January 2, 2013 If the quality were to slip so drastically, and the show lost more then 60% of it's followers, they /might/ end it there. Of course, Hasbro likes selling them toys. So I really can't say. AlsoHasbropleasemakeaTrixietoywiththerfulloutfitthankyou. Balamb 29 January 2, 2013 Share January 2, 2013 Hire Steven Moffat off of Doctor Who, current fans shed a million tears, fandom over except for six-year-olds and a sudden influx of horny fangirls.
TooTsaka 43 January 2, 2013 Share January 2, 2013 I'd say if they end up doing more episodes at the quality that Spike At Your Service was. That episode was just... plain and isn't what MLP is all about. That's the only reason I can see as what would create the downfall. They set such high standards that they've mostly been able to keep up with, but the problem is... it's pretty damn difficult to maintain such a high standard. Nohbdy 4,108 January 2, 2013 Share January 2, 2013 If MLP continues, it may very well jump the shark before pulling into an irreversible dive. The creators are very creative and dedicated, but there is always the risk of executive meddling or running out of ideas. The Alicorn Twilight controversy last month shows what could happen if something like that occurred. So really, as long as the show continues, the threat of a fatal screw-up will only grow. It saddens me to say that, but is there really any other way? The most dignified end for MLP would be to stop on a high note, before such a disaster happens. You know, go out with a bang rather than a whimper. Honestly, I don't want MLP to end in either of those ways, but I'd rather look back fondly on the show. And I'd rather see a fandom united in its love for a show that hung up its sword with dignity, rather than one broken and divided by the slow, painful death of an aging star pining for its glory days. But I really hope we won't have to face any of those possible downfalls any time soon. After all, both the show and the fandom are still fresh and young. The show still has so much potential. It's my hope that all of that potential is realized, and none of it is squandered.
---------------------- 1,645 January 2, 2013 Share January 2, 2013 If hasbro tries to really push for more toy sales, like pulling some stupid markting crap in the show, that's probably the biggest senario where the show would begin to decline. I would say MLP should last for no more then 6 seasons honestly, and that is pushing it :/
An Old Head 4,816 January 2, 2013 Share January 2, 2013 The Simpsons lasted twenty-one seasons. Let's all assume that MLP will do the same and remain as optimistic as bronies should be. ^.^
Harmonic Revelations 8,835 January 2, 2013 Share January 2, 2013 Since the show has so many fans, it'll probably stay the way it is until they start losing profits from it. From a corporate point of view of course.
Dusty Soul 2,611 January 2, 2013 Share January 2, 2013 If they begin to only focus on sales and not on the show (Highly unlikely). If they cancel it for some reason. I don't see it ending anytime soon. 1 Soundcloud-------------------Facebook---------------------------Youtube
TailsIsNotAlone 3,695 January 2, 2013 Share January 2, 2013 If they recognize when they've run out of ideas and end the show there, instead of dragging it out for money, it won't have to suffer a downfall. And that would probably be the best thing for everybody. "Human beings fascinate me Being just the way they are..."
Keylise<3 488 January 2, 2013 Share January 2, 2013 I really hope that My Little Pony will be a show that lasts for a very long time. Like Simpsons. That show has been around for ages! Signatures by Kyoshi, Cider Barrel and Lugia
EnderBrony 26 January 5, 2013 Share January 5, 2013 The apocalypse is THE ONLY THING that can take out MLP and the fandom. Although everyone does have a point with the running outta ideas thing i mean look at the show phineas and ferb. It started off good lasted 3 or 4 seasons and now it's very obvious they're running outta ideas
immblueversion 331 January 5, 2013 Share January 5, 2013 If the show ends, it'd better go out on a high note. I just hope the next episode won't be the one that all bronies fear--the one where the show jumps the shark.
Zygen 6,066 January 5, 2013 Share January 5, 2013 I think MLP will die when they run out of ideas, knowing alot of company's they'll probably still continue even when that happens, but they'll be terrible episodes compared to now. And after that seasons ends they'll probably cancel the show. Thanks to Gone Airbourne for the awesome sig! CyberFlash 41 January 5, 2013 Share January 5, 2013 Provided they keep up the great quality of the writing and introducing new ideas - I can easily see MLP:FiM lasting as long as The Simpsons ..(which I make to be around 23 years at this point!) If there is ever a reason for the decline of the writing, as Aquila says I suspect it would come through external forces (board / marketing / commercial decisions) meddling with Lauren Fausts perfect recipe. If I think back to when The Simpsons were new - I knew i loved the show right away but could never have imagined just how long it would run, how it would shape the genre itself and how it would grow and develop. I really hope the same happens with MLP and that we'll be able to look back fondly at the early episodes with that same feeling.
Megas 27,626 January 5, 2013 Share January 5, 2013 The show won't go downhill until executives but in an try to milk the cash cow dry, all while half-assing their efforts. That or until they run out of ideas. I like to think that the show is going to remain in conistant quality for a while like King of the Hill though, so I don't want any thoughts of the show going to crap in my head
Jordan Dash 31 January 5, 2013 Share January 5, 2013 I think the downfall of the Brony fan base would be if Hasbro went and cut the budgets even more to the MLP team. This would end up in less episodes, less seasons and really spaced down times in between episodes / seasons. But then again if everything dies out, think about it this way... Look at the Furry fandom, they've been going forever, since early 2000 or so, and they are still going! Maybe the Brony fandom will be just like the Furry fandom and last a lot longer than what people expected, then again we started in 2010 and are still going to this day in 2013! We are still growing, today 5 million, who knows how many tomorrow... or the day after! P.S. If Hasbro did a stupid idea as to cut the budgets, sites like EquestriaDaily would most likely hold a massive fund raiser for the MLP team to keep going. But I don't think Hasbro would ever do something so stupid to a show that has one of the largest fandoms ever.
