noplsno 124 January 7, 2013 Share January 7, 2013 name 3 things you would bring to help you survive: Cannot help you "get off" the island(ex.flare gun, phone,) Electricity is not aloud other than for light sources. List the order of things you "think" you'll get completed before sundown. you would have 8 hours before the dark falls: -shelter -food -water -fire -signal -entertainment* optional. This is just for fun, I would like to see who would have a chance of surviving and who wouldn't. have fun 1 noplsno
SkyGust 71 January 7, 2013 Share January 7, 2013 Gloves, med kit, and a pair of googles. The gloves would help me getting sticks for shelter and fire, the med kit would be for emergencies, and the googles would be for going underwater for fishing. I hate getting water in my eyes. I would sharpen sticks for a hunting tool, scout the island for a source of water, and for entertainment I would probably just go swimming.
Scootalove 10,689 January 7, 2013 Share January 7, 2013 Knife, Bandages, and Swimming Gear. The knife is for hunting for animals (if any) on the island, the bandages are for healing any injuries , and the swimming gear is for me to go swimming when I go cliff diving into the water. 1 Credit: Moony © Forum FAQ Forum Rules
An Old Head 4,816 January 7, 2013 Share January 7, 2013 (edited) Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash and Twilight Sparkle. n.n(Pinkie often pulls confectionery out of absolutely nowhere, Dash can manage the weather above the island to get us rainwater, and Twilight can beam a help signal far above the island. Plus, the stay would be super enjoyable.) But in all seriousness, I'd bring a Life Straw to purify water before drinking it, a flint & tinder to create fires for signal and warmth, and then finally a fishing net to cover the food situation. Retro*Derpy 3,185 January 7, 2013 Share January 7, 2013 I'd bring rope, an army knife, and a car battery. Rope to tie shelter together and any other of its thousands of uses, an army knife for cutting the rope and hunting, and a car battery to start fires.
Flicker Sweet 3,391 January 7, 2013 Share January 7, 2013 (edited) oh this is easy! XDI've done this scenario before! when I was in the Boy Scouts they actually had us go through this! XD I set up my shelter, then my fire (which I used to purify sea water), then set up a signal using debris and what not, then found food oh yeah, I made the fire using steel wool and a 9-volt battery piece of cake :3 Edited January 7, 2013 by Red and Blue
Darke Pony 27 January 7, 2013 Share January 7, 2013 (edited) Machete Bow & A quiver of arrows (assuming that would count as one thing) Tent. Machete to obtain wood for building, light and heat, and to carve kills. Bow to light fires (seriously) and hunt - shame to kill those animals, but... Tent for rain and insect protection, as well as the feeling of security In eight hours I would hope to: Hunt at least two meals worth Locate a spring whilst hunting Set up tent nearby weave rope and hang meat from a tree Carve simple wooden stakes and plant them facing outwards in a ring around my tent Light fire, cook some food Eat and prepare to sleep Edit: If I HAD to sort out some form of signal before sleeping then I'd walk about 30 metres from my tent to the north, east, south, and west, and light fires in each location, with my tent being in the middle of the thirty metre radius circle. this would pinpoint my location from the sky without drawing animals near while I sleep. Entertainment wouldn't be such an issue, as I love Archery, and I'd be hunting a lot. But I could go swimming or spend the time crafting a platform up in a tree for more security. I think I overthunk this. Edited January 7, 2013 by Darke Pony
Commander Urdnot 2,680 January 7, 2013 Share January 7, 2013 I would bring: Pinkeh Pie A Discoball (Technically a light source) A kite Well, I might not survive, but it'll be a pretty crazy ride.
SunnyAmbience 7 January 7, 2013 Share January 7, 2013 This one is pretty easy I'd bring a hatchet, for the simple fact it has multiple uses. It can be used as a means of defense, cut wood cut fish hunt for food smash etc, a bundle of uses. Then I would also bring a metal canteen for water, that also includes boiling it to make it drinkable. A lighter, just in case i can't find wood or stones. But in all honesty all I would need is a hatchet, most of the stuff i could find on the island unless it was barren. The other two are more of a backup plan, to fall back on. The Rainbownator 42 January 8, 2013 Share January 8, 2013 My crush ( or fluttershy ),a reusasble automatic camp fire , unlimited supply of marshmallows, pop up camp fire cook marshmallows lie on beach with crush stare into each others eyes and nothing like that happen those who were thinking it ( if it was flutter shy same exept for the staring into each others eyes because that would be wierd, and I'm not like that). Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.
DoctorWhovian1902 596 January 8, 2013 Share January 8, 2013 I'd bring Fluttershy and Twilight along with me, as well as a pistol, just in case. The ponies would be good company, and a weapon is good if things get rough. I can do that, right? I think, with the ponies' help of course, my ability to find what I need would look something like this: -shelter -food -water -signal -fire And hey, having company means entertainment won't be a problem. I'm sure we'd all have stories to share.
Modphase 1,271 January 8, 2013 Share January 8, 2013 (edited) 1. A sextant (To calculate what the latitude and longitude of the island I am on is) 2. A hunting rifle complete with bullets. 3. A volleyball made by Wilson. Hey, I need company right? Just stick some sticks in it and paint a face on it with blood. I could use it to get my anger out and not grow insane by isolation. Nah, I'm just joking. My real number three would be a kukri. The stuff I would be able to do before sundown? -Calculate the latitude and longitude of the island I am on -Regain my bearings -Decide weather or not it is plausible to get off the island, if it isn't I would begin finding a place for a permanent shelter, if it is, I would find a small shelter and begin plans to construct a boat of the island -Fire -Food and water. Spell Shock 56 January 8, 2013 Share January 8, 2013 Well, i could judge by classic litilature and say "A ship wreck, a bible and a set of cannibals", but since it's more practical choice i would say: A set of tools Knowladge how to use them, preferably in the easily understandable, memorable book. A book on how to make toilet paper. Through another set of tools would also be good. By that i mean the complete sets, which sold as one item. Fresh Meat 115 January 8, 2013 Share January 8, 2013 (edited) The three main things I'd defiantly need for survival would be: A flint (fire starter) firestarter.jpg Leatherman (multitool/swiss army knife) leatherman_freestyle_cx_2.jpg Kukri/Machete (Kukri preferably) kukri-extremaratio-knives.jpg Hopefully with these survival tools I'll be able to have (hopefully) have shelter, fire and possibly food within the first 8 hours. (depending what sort of island I'm trapped on). Edited January 8, 2013 by Fresh Meat 1 ~War is based on Deception_
Spell Shock 56 January 8, 2013 Share January 8, 2013 Tehnically, just saying - i would think flint is a waste of well, space. It's improbable to have any amount survivable island without a peace of flint on it and you can start fire with many other things. Just something i found kind of curious. Sorry if you supposed to post once, i just wanted to say that ^^* 1 Throught Equestria relics of the past lay forgotten and alone, never truly resting, awaiting recognition
null1 606 January 8, 2013 Share January 8, 2013 1. Knife - I'd opt for a Leatherman with more tools, but I'm more tempted to work with a decent and sturdy Bowie or Bush knife for heavier work, chopping possibly, it can be done. But no batoning, I hate that. 2. Magnesium Bar with built in striker 3. Some type of distilling pot to distill seawater so it will be drinkable. Depending on the island, I believe that I should be able to have a fire and shelter established, maybe set up the still before the sun sets. Search for edible food if possible before sundown.

Sorry if you supposed to post once, i just wanted to say that ^^* True, but trying to get a fire started without a flint or a lighter would also be a waste of time; and the first thing I'd lose on an island would be my patience. Yes there are many ways to start a fire without a flint, but depending on the island the timber could prove a real pain in the ass in start a fire, like I said patience would be the first thing to go with me. xD But if I were to replace my flint with something else it'd be a soccer/basketball. -"WILSON" ;_; Edited January 8, 2013 by Fresh Meat 2 ~War is based on Deception_
Two-of-Hearts 168 January 8, 2013 Share January 8, 2013 Magnesium fire starter Water purifyer A good wilderness survival handbook if I could have one more item it would probably be my Sog knife. Seaweed 596 January 24, 2014 Share January 24, 2014 1) Bolt action rifle (nothing fancy, 3 MOA at the very least), .308 Caliber, at least a 4x optic, if possible. Reticle is of no concern, so long as it works. Bipod would be nice, but can be fashioned otherwise. 2) Kukiri Knife. Self explanatory. 3) Lensatic Compass. Aside from the obvious, it's useful for multiple reasons, to include the magnifying glass used to help shoot an azimuth. The glass is useful for starting daytime fires and, ahem, signaling to passing air or watercraft. The rest is all simple fieldcraft. MLPforums resident marksman.
