Once again, I hate my shading style. Therefore this.

Please vote even if you can't leave a comment! I need all the opinions I can get.

Simply put, I have gathered five shading styles here, and they will be listed in order of how long they take. The first being no time, and the last being about two hours. So I need to stop rambling. Here we go!

Not Shaded

This is the one that takes no time. Seeing how it is not shaded and all. This is the one which won't happen, defiantly. However I still wish to include it in both the pole and here.

No tablet is needed.

Light Gradient Shading

This is the lightest of the gradient shading styles. It is quite basic, as are all the gradients. They take about an hour to complete on a simple pony.

No tablet needed.

Medium Gradient Shading

The medium of gradient shading. Same as light gradient, it takes an hour to complete.

No tablet needed

Heavy Gradient Shading

Once again, takes an hour to complete.

No tablet needed.

INSANE Shading

And here is the shading that takes two hours to complete, when the picture only took three. This one is very bold, and not sure if it is actually desirable.

Tablet used fairly heavily.

Thanks everyone who voted! As usual, Critique wanted. Thanks again! :P

I would say either the heavy or INSANE look nice, I'd probably go for the heavy over the others because it still has that canon look so you don't want a bunch of detail whilst you have uniform lines.

BTW I like it!

I voted for insane, because it just looks awesome. However, if you just want something that's simple, you should go for light shading, because no shading looks weird, in my opinion.

Art savvy-people don't hit me, but to me they all look pretty much the same. I honestly cannot see a difference between the different shading methods. Some are a tad more yellow than others but that's about it.

I have decided to upload the Insane shading to my Deviant Art. You can find that here.

I didn't actually do too well on that, however I am drawing something a bit more simple soon-ish that should be better.

Because of the sun light there shouldn't be a lot of shadow. The heavy and insane is just to much. Specially considering the blush on her face. Even If the shadows were darker, it wouldn't make her face darker to.

I voted for medium shading, simply because the insane shading made me go MY EYYYYESSS TOO MUCH! And the medium shading has a fading from red to orange in the mane and tail that I like more than the blackish red to red in the heavy version.

It depends on the picture itself, the overall mood of it and the light available. Because I'm

Assuming sunlight is bright you don't need a lot of shadow, although the detail in the hair looks nice.

You pretty much summed up exactly why I hate shading there. :P

And yes, it should be lighter. However, I was experimenting doing this. So when I draw another thing not soon, we shall see. :P

I voted for insane, looks much better on the picture itself. Personally I prefer two-tone shading but that wasn't really a choice, and after all we all have our own style.

I've tried that style quite a bit. Could never get it done right. It always seemed to take too long for each part, generally longer then the picture. So I never use it.
