I usually say that whether it's anime or cartoon (I know they're practically the same but anime has different style), it's always the best when heard on the original language. This has been true on anime side at least.

In this case, though. I'm interested on how the character will sound like... and will they keep the original intro song or make their own one?

I would say it is at least a 50/50 shot either way, if they do make their own theme they wouldn't be the first as the Italian dub already beat them to it. If you haven't heard the Italian theme already give it a listen, it is pretty awesome.

This can be nothing short of amazing. How many times have we (Bronies) joked about MLP in Japanese and how ridiculously awesome it would be to hear their names rendered in Japanese and such?

Imagine the songs, too!

Do you have any idea how excited I am for this.

No, because none of you know how much I adore Japanese dubs. Or the entire language, for that matter.

Regardless of the quality- which is bound to be good, given what I've seen of other Japanese dubs- you can bet I'll watch this one all the way through.

You sound like me. I'm fascinated with Japan, to say nothing of my specific feelings toward the language and anime.

I can't wait to watch this. And I'll be able to use any video player soon since, thanks to moving, I'm about to be able to use my computer again. BRING ON THE JAPAN BRONIES

The Japanese LOVED Teen Titans. that's why the producers made the movie take place in Japan. The fans there loved that! I did too. It was way cool! I bet FIM will be even bigger! I know that the Japanese produced toys will be an improvement!

This is going to get so huge in Japan, firstly Japan is the nerdiest country on the planet they have an established manga/cartoon culture that has been around and has been considered socially acceptable for all ages and genders to partake in for even longer than ours. Many Japanese people especially the youth are just as fascinated with American cartoons and comics as many Americas are with manga and anime. Friendship is a huge theme in many of these animes and mangas even in Shonen (boys) and adult oriented ones so "Friendship is Magic" won't turn very many of them off. And there isn't as much of a stigma there for men to be into cartoons that are "for little girls." I am honestly surprised MLP didn't make it to Japan sooner.

Also can you imagine how the brony fandom will explode? There are lots of talented Japanese animators out there and it would be fun to see some of their fanworks based on MLP.

I bet they'll do an awesome job with the dub. I can hear that typical cute/shy japanese voice used for Fluttershy, the tsundere one for Rainbow Dash etc..

Try to try again

There is a slight drawback. I fear that there will be a huge explosion of Japanese hentai doujinshi of a very questionable nature. When I wrote fear, I may have been spelling hope wrong. I haven't decided yet!

True, you can't understand a word they're saying but the video says it all. I've been waiting for this! Finally, MLP is coming to Japan!

You guys know what this means right?? The single greatest thing that will EVER befall this world: MLP episodes in Japanese with English subtitles. I thought this would happen MUCH sooner because this show is beyond perfect for Japanese audiences, but finally it's coming. Can you imagine what those voices are going to sound like, especially Pinkie's?! This country has some of the best voice actors in the world. I can't wait.  Ja  ne!

B)

Spoilers: Bushiroad might be the company bringing in MLP to Japan. Bushiroad also made Cardfight!!! Vanguard. So therefore, there might be a possibility of MLP FIM crossover Cardfight!!! Vanguard cards.

P.S. I have an example of a Cardfight!! Vanguard card:

I got so excited when I saw this! I'm a big fan of Japan and it's awesome that MLP: FiM is gonna be airing there! The Japanese dub of Pinkie Pie and Rarity sound great as well (thankfully, hehe).

Can't wait to see more news!

Yeah and there are probably going to be a slew of doujins as well, I may not be able to read or speak Japanese but there are probably going to be plenty of bronies who can translating those works.

I have decided. But I'm going to leave it at that for now.

I'm actually fairly neutral about the whole thing, I've never liked English dubs of anime but things which were originally English don't have that problem to me. Hopefully the Japanese voices match the characters as well as the original ones.

There's actually something that makes me say that there won't be many bronies in Japan, but rather many pegasisters. Of course I'm not sure if it'll be so, but I think there won't be many male fans of MLP: FiM... if any.

But we shall see how it will turn out, won't we?

I don't think any of us ever predicted there would be so many male fans in any country under any circumstance so I am not as quick to say that there won't be that many.

URGH.

"Japanese Voice Actors are in a class of their own."

Please, find me ONE female voice actor that's even remotely as skilled as Tara Strong. One of, if not THE best female voice actress is Megumi Hayashibara... and Tara is better by far.

And please don't say Aya Hirano. She's decent, but not at all great.

English voice acting is as a rule better(japanese VAs are known to overact)- espescially when it comes to English->Japanese, as opposed to Japanese->English. As a rule, a show will always sound better in it's home language, but english dubbers are some of the best, period. Yes, there are bad dubs, but most dubs simply gets hate for not being the japanese, without any consideration for who is better. The average english dubbed anime sounds inbetween decent to good.

Meanwhile, one need look no further than Avatar the Last Airbender for the average English->Japanese Dub. And it is terrible- especially in the female voice acting department.

This is great, mlp is continuing to spread all throughout the land. But, since it's arriving in this region, this may be a potential for the Chinese to make a knockoff, which they do most of the time.

But, another thing, I hope the voice actors are all balanced and all don't sound the same.

Hello!

I'll be the first to ask. Why is this so exciting? I personally, never liked anything the japanese dubed, and i really had enough of those KTSoooO!O!O!!!!!

Nothing to exciting, but it's great that MLP is becoming more and more popular.

Complety agree. I just rather watch the series and everything in english, my home languague.

I also dont understand why some (SOME, NOT ALL) female jap dubs voices are so high pitch... Super annoying....

For me, watching mlp in jap is like watching it on spanish or french... Is just a different language... Nothing special

Japanese culture wants women to speak and behave in a certain way, women even speak the language differently from men.The mane 6 are all women and their behavior is pretty radical in japan.

Man... have you WATCHED any anime from like the last 30 years?

I have decided. But I'm going to leave it at that for now.

Interesting.  So you wouldn't watch even the dub of an anime starring the same voice actors as MLP: FiM?

I've always been fascinated in the crossover in fandom between anime and MLP, particularly Bronies who prefer English subbed anime.  Wonder what their thoughts are on Ocean Studios' anime dub work and how they compare to their thoughts on their work on Friendship is magic.

Yeah not expecting a lot. Japan does have a very masculine culture. But if a masculine nation like U.S. produces Bronies it's a possibility. And even if there wasn't any Japanese bronies but pegasisters, who can say no to more girls to the fandom?

Generally speaking, I would not watch the English dub of any Japanese work if a version with the original voices is equally accessible. There have been some exceptions, but there have also been some particularly bad examples as well (I found BakaTest on Netflix once... couldn't get through a single episode).

It also happens where starting with one version causes the voice to be permanently tied to the character in your mind, and all others will sound extremely wrong at first. I don't plan to switch over to the Japanese version any more than any other language, particularly when the original was in English, and don't think that Japanese voice actors are inherently superior to others.

Sh?jo (Girl, or young girl, depending on who translates) manga and anime already has a fairly strong Otaku older male following in Japan. Sh?jo is a broad term. It refers more to the young girl demographic that the comic or anime series is aimed at, and not necessarily the actual artwork depicting characters as young girls. Don't take this the wrong way, but many Otaku tend to make even the most over the top Brony look like a conservative! They have Maid Cafe's where cute young girls in frilly maid costumes address the leering male patrons as Master. I'm sure that many of those guys will discover their inner Brony and join the herd!

These guys are Bronies. They just don't know it yet!

I'm not actually complaining about getting more pegasisters to the fandom. That's okay to me.

I'm just guessing that there's a high chance not many males will be fans of the show in Japan, the reason being what poniesforfun said. Further reason is the difference between U.S. and Japan. The difference being that Japan, IMO, is quite stricter on how they raise their children... unless that's changed somehow from last time I checked.

Haha, this is really cool. MLP is spreading like the plague, soon it will have the word infected! :D

That animation is done by a singaporean but captures the Anime feel. I just wish people would stop Fluttershy from being a psychopath :/

Ohhhhh, don't get me started on how awesome that would/will be.

Jeez. Assuming it goes over well (I don't see why it wouldn't, but I don't want to assume too much), there's amazing stuff on the way. What could be better than the fandom and fan content being enriched like this?

Doujin. Oh, there will be doujin. And... some thing I was gonna say but forgot.
