The Princesses and Celestia's Moment

After the last episode, I've been thinking.

 

A lot of people in the forum have said that Celestia and Luna are underused, but after Sleepless in Ponyville, where we see Luna being awesome, to me, at least, it felt like Celestia needed something like that.

 

Specially after the "Hearth Warming Eve" episode, where it is said that unicorns can raise the sun and the moon. The Sisters became almost obsolete in the role they had from season one, as the "quasi deities" they seemed to be, moving celestial bodies around.

 

Also, there's Cadance that made alicorns look lot less special, even if Luna and Celestia look different with their flowing manes. Also, Celestia got defeated by Chrysalis. Of course, this is not a real measure of her power because, as I like to say, Chrysalis was "high on love".

 

But then came the season finale and we got this...

 

Luna watches over ponie's dreams and Celestia is... Big Sister?

 

Anybody else thought of this?

 

Of course, keeping the relative proportions and meanings. Was Celestia watching it all? Or was that just a visual cue for the audience?

 

Interpretations on the meaning of that particular scene people?

If you didn't know. Celestia watches all in day. Most of the stuff Twilight has done was in day. She knows everything. She is Celestia for goodness sake. Luna would take over the night events. Celestia did show the event when Twi went crazy, but she knows because she arrived when time was over. Celestia knows any day events and day dreams. Luna knows any night events and dreams and nightmares.

I said this about Celestia and Luna. The fact that they are Immortal Demigods is what makes them special. Not raising the sun and moon. Unicorns could do this before Celestia's rule. Discord also was shown to have this ability too. Celestia and Luna taking the responsibility of doing it frees the Unicorn ponies to do other things. I quite like that the responsibility was put into such a ceremonial role. Again ive probably said this many times today but Cadence was only made an Alicorn because Hasbro wanted to sell more toys. When Lauren Faust was still on the show one of the last things she had involvement with was Cadence. She only intended for Celestia and Luna to be the only Alicorns. Because the title of princess can be earned it raises the debate weather you can be born an Alicorn and become an Alicorn by birthright or do you always have to earn it like Twilight did. I maintain that because of this there will always be 2 levels or states to being an Alicorn and one of them only Celestia and Luna have. People assume that all Alicorns will be immortal like Celestia but if thats one thing we learn from Cadence and now Twilight that is not always the case. I do not like the idea that the only people that can be Princesses are Alicorns. Because it just feels and looks wrong. I think that the term Princess has been lowered by the fact that Hasbro wont allow Celestia to be a Queen. We will eventually have a much better picture of the Royal Family. I really liked Celestia getting to sing but i did not like Celestia bowing to Princess Twilight. The term now should just be something else because a princess usually has subjects to rule over. If every Princess is an Alicorn it will get to "To many Generals not Enough Soldiers" sort of deal in my opinion. Celestia and Luna rule Equestria. Cadence and Shining Armor get the Crystal Empire. So what about Twilight? I don't get why making her a Princess was on Celestia's to do list. It was suggested that Celestia was dying and that she was going to pass leadership over to Twilight as her Successor. Which makes no sense because we know she is immortal and rightfully Cadence or Luna or Blueblood would succeed her depending on what Equestria's rules of succession are. I dunno im glad Celestia got her moment but Twilight only complicates things now.

Well the show hadn't given any hints of Celestia being omniscient or something of the sort In Lesson Zero, it was Spike who warned Celestia that Twilight was freaking out.

 

Nightmare Moon must have given the ponies trying to sleep in her night some hellish nightmares.

Princess Celestia probably worries about Twilight. She just wants to monitor what she has done so far in Ponyville learning about a lesson in friendship, pretty much the teacher makes sure the Student is focused and collective.

Lauren Faust wanted Blueblood to be a duke. That would put him in royalty (and still in Rarity's aim) and solve the problem that he creates. Cadence could have turned into an alicorn a short time before she became Twilight's foalsiter. What bugs me about this, now, is that she certainly was not turned into alicorn by the Elements of Harmony. Maybe I'm wrong believing that the Elements turned Twilight and it was Celestia who did it. 

 

So, does Celestia have the power to create alicorns? Wow. And I thought she'd be sad she can't enter ponies' dreams.

 

Now, about making Twilight a princess. I have the tendency of thinking of the Mane Six as "Celestia's Champions". She can't wield the Elements of Harmony with Luna anymore. But she can train the Mane Six in their usage and they are linked to friendship. (maybe the two sisters can't use them anymore because the day Nightmare Moon was banished, Celestia lost her only friend) It's clear that Twilight is important to Equestria, but JUST AS MUCH AS THE OTHER MANE SIX. Turning her into a princess was... Unnecessary.

 

Anyway, I just hate this notion that queens are bad and princesses are good. It's just silly. And I didn't like Celestia bowing to Twilight either. I think it was made for effect, not that Twilight actually has some power over her, but that Celestia is humble enough to acknowledge that she can learn from Twilight too. Now, I'm not 100% ok with this either, simply because Celestia is overwhelmingly more experienced. She's 1000+ years old and Twilight is about 20. But... Well... 

 

Finally, I agree. Too many generals and not enough soldiers indeed. Maybe the problem is that they went with the idea that if Celestia knighted Twilight, or something of the sort, it would be too complicated for the little children. (yeah... right...) So they went with the princess thing. But seriously... If they put Twilight to rule Ponyville I'm going to kill someone! Specially because I see the Crystal Empire as part of Equestria (they are going to host the Equestria Games, after all).
