Season Four Premiere Predictions *SPOILER*

As I have said before, I am probably the only one who does not want them to change Twilight back, at least for a while. Almost every cartoon has followed that cliche at some point and it would be interesting to see if the writers could pull off not resorting to using it. Twilight is a princess sure, but does that REALLY have to dramatically change everything? I mean, her friends seemed rather supportive of it so why can't she still be with them and live in Ponyville?

I have a strange view on it, but I would love to see Twilicorn stick around for a little while. In terms of what will happen in the premiere, it is difficult to say at this point. I fear that they will follow the cliche and change her back somehow, but that is all I can say at the moment. So yeah, I am already sounding like a broken record.

So, it is a cliche for everything to return to the status-quo in a season premiere, right after a major change in the last season's finale. Right?

Well, if they can pull off Twilight's return as a unicorn WELL, then it won't matter if it is cliche or not. After all, most of the previous seasons' episodes borrow from many other children's cartoons, and yet they were pretty good in their own, unique ways.

I was listening to the finale songs and read this comment :

"My only hope is that Season 4 starts with the ending scene, Twilight saying "everythings gonna be fine", then immediately crashes. Then RD gives her lessons, boom, you squeezed a good episode out of this giant mess."

I disagree with the "giant mess" part, but I'd love to see that, well not necessarily the flying lesson episode as the premiere but to just have that scene, I feel like it would tie the finale and premiere together really neatly.

Well, yeah, it is. Perhaps it is not the same as others, where they usually do it all in one episode. Either way, it would be nice if for a change, they could try permanent character advancement with this. I mean, just because she is now royalty doesn't mean everything has to change %100, like most other shows make it out to be. Almost every other cartoon at some point has a character that has a change like this and by default, the change %100 conflicts with everything that is currently in the show, so they quickly change it back. It doesn't HAVE to be like that. I am fully aware that this show has borrowed different elements from other cartoons and that is fine, but this is something I would like to see done differently.

Either way, it would be nice if for a change, they could try permanent character advancement with this. I mean, just because she is now royalty doesn't mean everything has to change 0, like most other shows make it out to be. Almost every other cartoon at some point has a character that has a change like this and by default, the change 0 conflicts with everything that is currently in the show, so they quickly change it back. It doesn't HAVE to be like that. I am fully aware that this show has borrowed different elements from other cartoons and that is fine, but this is something I would like to see done differently.

And personally, I liked things better when Twilight was a librarian from Ponyville, who reads books and hangs out with her friends. And oh, she doesn't have those wings, which act as symbols of her princesshood, and aren't just for aesthetics alone. And, there were two unicorns to go along with the two earth ponies and two pegasi, rather than one alicorn and one unicorn amongst the Mane Six, thus disrupting the balance.

Meghan McCarthy tweeted that the Season Three finale would be part one of a three-part story-arc. Who knows? Starswirl the Bearded might return from the dead to exact his revenge on Twilight for finishing the spell meant for him, and would even go far as to use her friends as hostages. And, the only way she can ever save her friends from Starswirl is if she sacrifices all of her princess magic, all the way down to her wings and title.

Plus, when you look at the humanized Twilight Sparkle from Equestria Girls, she's equally normal to her friends despite their differences, rather than super-special awesome compared to them. That might mean it's a sign that pony-Twilight will possibly resign her royal duties and wings to save her friends, whether from Starswirl the Bearded or whatever else villain she has to face-off against.

Exactly, and just because she has these two things doesn't mean that she isn't Twilight anymore. She can still be a bookworm and she can still hang out with her friends. Celestia and Luna are still around so she doesn't need to be caught up in princess duties all the time. That is what I want to see the writers pull off, because other cartoons apparently couldn't.

Then why did McCarthy say that Season Three would be part of a three-part story-arc, with the Season Four two-part premiere being the last two parts?

Besides, not everyone is going to enjoy change. Some like things the way they are, even if they stagnate over time. Odds are, the two-part Season Four premiere will pit Twilight against a new threat (possibly Starswirl the Bearded) that would have her decide between either her friends or her princesshood. Meghan may have said that the Season Three finale will be a three-parter, but she also didn't say if it's either going to be temporary or permanent, possibly to refrain from spoilers.

And, I bet when they said "we're going to keep Twilight true to herself, even as princess," I bet they're misleading us. As I said, they're probably going to set-up a scenario in the two-part Season Four premiere that has her sacrifice her royalty for her friends. After all, the writers and VO's said that we would have dragon-Fluttershy and a Rarity/Octavia duet, and in Season Three we received neither. That means they're probably misleading us to avoid spoilers.

Or perhaps they are just reassuring us? As you said, quite a few people do not like change (usually I am one of those people), so maybe they told us that "she will still be true to herself even as a princess" because it is true and they did not want people to worry and think otherwise.

Notice how you never mention anything about the two-part Season Four premiere, and how it connects to the Season Three finale. Perhaps Twilight will still be herself even as a princess for part-one and the first half of part-two, only this time struggling with all the responsibilities placed on her as a princess while being away from her friends. Then, by the end of the second half of part-two, she sacrifices her wings, princess magic, and even royal title to save her friends from whatever villain the writers create and pit her against.

Really, this argument isn't going anywhere. I could go on, but then it would drag on for too long, and it ends up spiraling out of control. Besides, I suck at arguments.

I wouldn't consider this an argument.

I did not mention the Season Four premier because we do not know what is going to happen. All we know is that it will be a continuation of the S3 finale, that's it. Having these linked doesn't mean what you say either, not by default. The finale was very rushed, that is obvious. So perhaps the reason for the linking is because this princess thing is a big deal and they want to use these two episodes to give better detail about the situation, because they were more than likely hard-pressed for time. Again, we do not know, it is all up for speculation.

Here is an excellent blog post by akita-ken about that.

How do you think season 4 will start? yea it might be a bit early to start talking about how season 4 will start but still

I think it might start like

It takes place months after the coronation and twilight is so busy with her duties as a princess that she doesn't spend alot of time with her friends then something happens that requires the elements and when she goes to get her friends they are all diffrent

that is just what i think though how do you think season 4 might start?

I'm kind of tired of hearing that seriously.  I was a brony when those rumors got out and it's nothing but misconception.  The writers (or whoever said it) said that they would like that.  Not that it would happen.  So people changed their words and made it seem like it really would happen in season 3.

I'm guessing that Twilight will lose her Alicornhood and return to normal ol' Twi. Because seriously... Twilight becoming a princess? Seems fishy to me.

Howdy all!!

As far as the S4 Premere.

Should be a 2 parter featuring Princess Twilight.

A new threat to Equestria comes in (Either Starswirl or Chrysalis we'll see) & its up to the new princess to save everypony ^_^

Just keep calm & rock on till this fall!

All Hail Princess Twilight!!

Lets think about what celestia said.

" He didn't understand friendship" I believe a a powerful unicorn who doesn't understand friendship is a pretty dangerous combination.

Remember we have no knowledge for season 4 and whether hes still alive, but this is my take

Incoming a badass villain for season 4

She said that about StarSwirl? If so he would make one badass mofo Villain.

But he needs something new. Sure hes been hyped like hell but he needs something to diff him from the other villains.

Give him a CM Punk attitude maybe

Of course it does!

Normally, it's MLP: FiM tradition to begin each season with a two-part special that pits Twilight and her friends against a world-ending catastrophe, such as Nightmare Moon from Season One, Discord from Season Two, and King Sombra (the most disappointing villain) from Season Three. That means Season Four might not only be a continuation of the Princess Twilight story-arc, but also a save-the-world story as well, meaning that Twilight might have to sacrifice her wings and princesshood against a new threat toward her friends as well as all of Equestria. Starswirl the Bearded, perhaps? If so, how does he return from the dead, or something?
