I am wondering if Princess Twilight and Cadence will get the same flowing manes like Luna and Celestia will, and will she be bigger than the other mane 6 now that she is a alicorn and all?

 

I am personally hoping she gets the flowing mane cause that would be freakin' awesome and I hope she doesn't get any bigger than Luna, what are your thoughts?

I think that would be amazing I love the way it looks I just hope Princess Twilight will remain Princess and not being turn back in to regular twilight

I didn't even think about the awesome art that these talented ponies can do. It would be soo cool to see how different people draw their manes, I will keep an eye out for artwork and post links to the art here when I see it.

 

That would totally suck if she became a unicorn again, but I know some people don't like the who alicorn change that happend.

I've mentioned this before but I think that the flowing mane has to do with why Luna and Celestia have lived so long, I think that normal Alicorns don't get them, because if it where an age thing Luna probably wouldn't have had it when she was still smaller after being returned from Nightmare moon.

 

Someone else mentioned the theory, and I've adopted it a bit because it sounds pretty cool and makes sense so far, plus it supports my idea that most Alicorns aren't immortal, or even all of them possibly.

 

It'd be cool to see art of though.

If I remember right in canterlot wedding when she was empowered you saw some flowies with Cadence.  I would think Twilight would need to mature a ton as an alicorn before that happens unless you end up with some crowning moment of awesome somewhere down the line.  It might also flow when they shoot the rainbow cannon.

Yes if you look at 16 minutes into the 26th episode of the 2nd season (canterlot wedding part 2) you can see cadence with a flowing mane like you see luna and celestia have for a short period of time.

I think the mane would look pretty cool if done right to be honest , but I don't really want them to get it because then that kinda messes up the theory and then it might mean all Alicorns are immortal and stuff.

 

I wouldn't mind seeing fanart of it or something though.

Luna's mane flows because she is the Moon Goddess.

 

The others are not deities, so their manes don't flow.

Let the two original Alicorns keep something unique. She can have a flowing mane in some momentary magic overload while she's defeating some overly powerful enemy but as a permanent thing? No thanks.

Yeah, this looks over-the-top, but that's just cause it's a straight up color switch. If the animators were to give her a flowing mane, it would look much more natural for her and her colors.

I'd love to see her mane and tail flow while casting a big spell, like Cadence and Shining Armor in the wedding, but I'm not sure about doing it all the time.. might be too distracting. And I doubt they'd do it anyway, just from the difficulty of animating it. But I think it would be really awesome if they add a sparkle effect to her mane/tail all the time. Easy, not too distracting, fits with her star cutie mark, and I think she should control the stars like Celestia and Luna control the sun and moon.

I much prefer the Alicorn Twilight I used for my avatar. The face is right and she has a much plainer flowing mane, squarrish and without the stars from Celestia's mane. That's about the best one I have seen yet.

Actually Luna controls the moon and stars.

 

I think she'd be upset if Twilight tried to move into her territory.

Heres my thoughts on this. 

We now know at least in twilight's case that alicorns are realized through an ultimate enlightenment or understanding of a fundamental element. All of the elements thus far are part of the balance of the world and of ponies themselves. Celestia is day and life, Luna is night and dreams, Cadence is love and light, and Twilight is friendship and magic. All of these elements are an aspect of the balance and maintaining harmony of the world and the alicorn is a symbol of that harmony. They represent a combination of all races in one being. 

Seeing as the realization of becoming an alicorn is a new step in life, perhaps obtaining an ethereal mane is as well. Perhaps its a similar transformation reached by a similar ultimate understanding or mastery of the element they wield.
