House Everfree - The Old Castle Ruins - Lady Fluttershys' Dining Hall

Jade looked at Lady Sparrow, deep into her large, pleading eyes, which glistened with fresh tears. She seemed pained and helpless, like a wounded bird, which, in a way, she was.  For a split second, the corners of Jades' mouth flicked up in a sympathetic smile, but they soon returned to their normal sad look. "Okay." She couldn't leave then, and she didn't want to, for if she did no one could be sure just how long the girls would last without someone to watch them, if at all.

She sang for a while to the quivering Lady Sparrow, gently stroking her mane to ease whatever pain or fear she may still harbor. Evergreen seemed to be recovering from her attack on the Stormwing soldiers, and just as slowly as before. Jades' throat and eyes grew dry, and she paused, her hoof ceasing to move across Sparrows' mane to reach for water from her bag. She took a few gulps and put the bottle back in her weathered saddlebag. Before beginning to chirp her song once more, a question came to her mind.

"What is your name, Sparrow?"

As the assassin charged, Swift moved in to intercept, kicking up against the sword strike.

As he moved, the stinging pain from the cuts gained from falling through the glass slowed his movements. The agent stumbled a little falling into the intercept, but quickly tried to regain his composure.

Typical... It seemed that the very individuals whose lives he was trying to save, had left. Not even a thank you for jumping in to save them...

Then again, there was always that other pony, the one who had first defended Sweetie Belle. Who was he anyway? Another aristocrat?

Well... Swift didn't recognise him anyway. But there were more important matters at hand than Sweetie Belle's latest fling!

Swift prepared to fight the Assassin, suddenly  ignorant of Encore's presence there.

It was too late to impress the leaders now, Swift could only thank the fact that he'd been 'graced' with their presence... and that they might remember who he was. For now, it was time to defeat the assassin... Or should he ask questions first? Nah, she was probably just a hired weapon from another house or even political group...

(OOC... Okay, not really sure where to go from here XD

The character minimum is going to make fighting difficult...)

House Everfree – The Southern Ruin – The Dining Hall

All she could so was close her eyes and listen. It gave her some small comfort just to have somepony next to her, somepony to look after her. When Jade asked the question she did not hesitate to respond, although her voice was frail and weak. “Lilith, but my parents called me Lily. You… you can call me that as well… if you want.” She shuddered slightly as her body continued to tense up. She could feel a pool of sickness building in her stomach and the smell of metallic blood still wafting from her wound.

For the moment she was calm at least, warm memories of her family still floating around her mind. It was comfort. She seemed to drift off of this world and into another entirely, a better one, before the darkness had spread. She didn't want to leave, but the pain in her side reminded her it want over yet. “I’ve been such a nuisance, getting in everypony’s way and now this. I shouldn't have left home.” Her sobbing returned with a vengeance, droplets patting on the cobblestone. I…  I’m so sorry.”

House Everfree - The Old Castle Ruins - Lady Fluttershys' Dining Hall

"That's a beautiful name," said Jade. It wasn't entirely just for comfort - it really was quite pretty. When Lily shuddered, Jade wrapped a little more of the blanket around her, at least the part that wasn't bloodstained. "I'm so sorry to hear about your parents." She knew from experience when a pony was reminiscing about something or somepony they'd lost, and that, whether they knew themselves, they needed help getting over it, no matter how long ago.

"A nuisance?" Jade asked with bewilderment. Then again, she'd probably blame herself if she was in that situation. "Lily, you didn't get in anyponys' way at all, and the spear wasn't your fault - it was the soldiers. You couldn't have predicted that. And even if you hadn't left your home, you still would have been summoned here by Lady Fluttershy." She's lucky she has a home, Jade thought to herself.

She wiped the tears from Lilys' eyes, although she knew more would follow. "Is the wound feeling any better?" She gently laid her hoof across the blanket over Lilys' side, the injury underneath. It would take time and help to heal, but for now all they could do was wait until either Lily regained enough strength to walk to a doctor or Eve managed to gather her wits and help again.

House Everfree – The Southern Ruin – The Dining Hall

Lily looked down to the wound at her side. It was obscured by the blankets but it was obvious that it was still bleeding, the fabric stained red. Where it once burned it just felt numb, almost dulled by the shock. It was such a strange feeling, and yet it took it's toll on her body. “I don’t know…  I can’t tell. It’s almost like I know it’s there and I can tell it’s hurting me…  but there’s nothing. I can’t even find the strength in my hooves to walk.” Never had she felt more helpless and useless till now. Lily couldn't help but sob, the glistening tears pooling on the ground where her head rested.

And then there was the Everfree Liege, the great mass of wood and bark. He promised he could save her, but only if she swore servitude. She was terrified, she didn't know what she wanted more, her freedom or her life. She couldn't even think it straight in her head. “What about the Liege? He promised he could help, he could. But I don’t know what’s going to happen afterwards. I could become one of them, I could be changed. What do I do?”

The soldier had no idea what idea what had happened next. He heard some sounds from the room that stallion had hid inand then the shattering of glass. His mind screamed,"Save yourself!" but it didn't stop him from rushing out of the closet into the other room. He saw lots of glass on the floor and he saw an insane-looking pegasus with chains. She seemed to be circling a brown figure on the ground. Oh no! Without a second thought, he took his blade and hurled it at the pegasus. It became a blurry, silver disk as it spun toward the stallion's attacker. He immediately took to hiding again.

No wait, I have to focus on this for now. I can see what I can do with them later if they enter the surrounding area.

She was not impressed. In fact, she only kept her usual poker face on with a hint of flirting and a "I will kill you in your sleep" feeling. Star Rain stayed silent as she levitated her sketchbook out of her saddlebags. She began to draw falling leaves, blending different shades of green together and adding in a sky blue background that faded to white as you look down. Everything seems to be falling down. Where will the wind take these leaves? She glanced at the scarred Earthborn traveller with a slight change of heart. I wonder if my father is alive? I can almost feel his life force... it was foolish thought in her mind. She had been to his funeral seven years ago a few days before Twilight came. A few days before her mother's betrayal. A few days before she got her first scar.

Long Stride - Whitetail Woods - The Campsite

Resting himself down on a downed trunk, Long Stride took the weight off his injured led. The luck Zebra bastard who caused this didn't manage to leave the fight with his life. How long has it been? Only a few days maybe, four? It doesn't really matter, although it was apparent that the Earth Ponies were useless at preforming medical aid. Indeed, many unicorns had long since fled Earthborn for the safety of the north after their Commander passed the right for them to be de-horned. It pains him little to know that he himself conducted his fair share of horn removal, before ending their life with a clean strike.

And yet his conscious remained clean, for he had no moral guide lines to follow. That was left up to his own judgment. He unstrapped the blade from his belt and placed it next to him, sitting it upright against trunk. He tossed aside his helm in a casual manner and looked across at the other travelers. What caught is eye most of all was the artist amongst them, sketching down the scenery around her. What a pointless thing to do. "You'll find that there is little call for artists or...  philosophers these days. The currency of the House is in its warriors, not its craftsmen."

He pulled out a few more blades concealed in his scale armor, setting them aside as well. "Maybe some day the world will be in need of your skill, carry it on while others forget. I doubt it. This lands fate was written years ago when the war began. No one will make it out if this."

Way before anyone here was alive. Centuries ago. This land was created for peace, and I intend to restore it back to just that. A Peaceful land. Back to how Equestria was supposed to be. Not this, Equestria Divided. You are older than me for Luna's sake. Don't you remember what it was like? Before all of this? Before the Sisters were gone, before your fighting and your injuries?" Eternity had noticed his wounded leg.

"But I suppose not. Everyone has forgotten. This stupid quarrel has made everyone blind." Eternity paused for a bit. He picked up his Brother's book, and starred at it for a while. "Well, I'm heading to bed. If anypony needs me I will be over here asleep. Don't hesitate to wake me." he layed down next to a tree on a pile of leaves and soft grass. Why did you have to go Celestia? None of this would of happened. .. Why can't be in that stupid fortress city already?

Applejack gave Fixit a dirty look. "House Stormwing just attacked us along with Everfree and you what us to have a truce. Know your place soldier." Breaburn spoke in Fixit's defence. "Applejack, he's right, if we could make a truce with Stormwing it could turn to be a huge advantage, also i dont think we should be so hasty as to refuse Everfree's conclave meeting." "Breaburn..."Applejack was interrupted. Ents approched New Ponyville asking for sanctuary. Applejack could see no lies as they spoke, her one true sight could see through almost any deceit including ents, she could see they wanted peace, this could possibly turn out to be a huge advantage agaisnt the forces of Everfree. Before Applejack could respond a soldier came to report that Everfree was now attacking Stormwing and that Rainbow Dash called for her help. "Applejack this could be our oppertunity to make an alliance." Applejack loward her head in silence for a moment to think. "Breaburn i want you to go welcome the ents and find out if they have any information that can help us to slow down the Everfree's expansion. Soldier i want you to attend this conclave, you may not speak on behalf of the house, i want you to hear what Fluttershy has to say then report back to me." The soldier headed towards the Everfee forest. "Fixit i want you to come with me we're going to Cloudsdale, i will decide what we will do when we get there. "

Breaburn approached the ents "Welcome to New Ponyville, may i ask why you left house Everfree?"

Nightfall got a grin on his face.

"Just about anything I want it to."

He walked around it.

"I figure I can attach some sort of... Transmission that can make it power wheels. Perhaps I can design a way that can make it load some kind of catapult, or, if you want to be more civilized, I can, with help, make a few more, improvise them, and get them to power wheels that could move a cannon."

He looked at Rarity, and sat back down across from her.

"If I can get help, as in orders for help from you, I can likely make a better version of it, meaning more power, meaning the ability to do more, pull more, push more, make things go fast. All I need is your approval and orders."

He had, for the most part, stopped smiling and was looking Lady Rarity dead in the eye, feeling like he was very close to getting exactly what he wanted: orders from her to build more, which could only be the beginning, he figured,to his rise to power and fame. He felt that he needed this to fight Twilight Sparkle.

"If you don't approve, then cast me out. But if you approve, give me the word, and I can make more, helping to make this house stronger."

House Everfree - The Old Castle Ruins - Lady Fluttershys' Dining Hall

Evergreen had temporarily succumbed to the overwhelming tiredness she always felt when she overexerted her magical prowess. In other words, she had fallen asleep. After a short, haunted dream, she came to, just in time to hear Lily worrying about becoming 'one of them'. She sat up. Thankfully her limbs were no longer shaking, but she glared at the injured pony for a moment before moving to help her.

"What do you mean, one of them?" Eve's voice was not amused. In fact, she sounded almost affronted. The only reason she was helping this scaredy-pony was because Fluttershy seemed to think her important. Eve believed Fluttershy mistaken - not that she would ever admit that in front of their Forest Mother - but so far this pony had only been a hindrance.

"We're them. And we're not totally insane."

Yet.

Eve looked herself up and down. She had sustained several nicks and shallow wounds herself, but they were all minor compared to the gaping hole in Bird-brain's side. She trotted over, and began to grudgingly bandage the wound. She may not like the pony, but a life was a life. No matter how inferior.

((Part of it might just be racism towards pegasi in general on Eve's part. It's developed a bit from just hating Stormwing. There are some pegasi she respects - Fluttershy, obviously - but generally speaking...))

Lily was almost broke down in tears when she heard Evergreen, unable to it back any longer. “I- I’m sorry. I didn’t…  I just…” She couldn’t get the words out coherently, fading back into a small blur of sobbing. “Thank you… for helping. I really didn’t want to hurt any pony’s feelings. I was just scared.” She wished she could simply stop being so terrified, just stop being afraid of the unknown, but she couldn’t. It was just… her.

“I don’t think you’re insane. I think you were very brave.” More than I could ever be. “The way you used your magic, I could never even think of matching with these useless wings.” She tried to make them move but she was still struggling to get anything more than a few involuntary twitches. She sniffed sharply, blinking away the last of her tears. “I think I can stand now.”

Despite how weak she felt, and the very clear state of shock recovery her body was in, she started to move her legs to try and prop herself up. Her wound was now properly bandaged, the fur around it stained with blood. With allot of effort Lily managed to get herself upright, but already she was exhausted. The blanket slipped off her side onto the stone floor as she used her forelegs to try and elevate herself. After much whimpering and moaning she found herself standing upright on all fours. This lasted approximately three seconds before she felt her legs give way from under her. She hit the ground on her stomach; recoiling from the pain it caused her injury.

After some trial and error, and a bit of help from the other two (okay allot of help) she managed to regain her some of her balance and strength. She rested a wing on Jade to try and hold still while she took her first few steps, one hoof following the next. It was still painful, but it was progress. “Thank you…  both of you. I don’t think I would have made it without your help.” She turned her head slightly and gave Jade the lightest peck on the check, a gentle way of saying ‘thanks’.

House Whitegold - Manehettan - Running from the Military Headquarter to the Under City.

Cunning Horn used the energy he stored in his horn to recover himself. He felt a hot sensation flowed throughout his body and it felt lighter than before. It didn't restore so much, but was enough to escape. He galloped away from the Military Headquarter, not caring about his surrounding. He kept trotting until he was running out of energy and sat between two semi-temporary buildings. He just realized that he was in the Under City, and thought he could take a rest there.

He sat there still, leaning on the poor wall in that dark space. He caught some eyes staring at him from both edges of his sight. He didn't really care though. He left his saddlebag in the headquarter, and he had nothing for them to steal. He slowly closed his eyes, trying to feel his heart beat.

He snorted, "If I wasn't exhausted, I would have stood and fought." Even so, he knew that he would meet again someday, and when the time came, he would be in his best condition.

Eves' words could have been put more gently, but she was right. Still, the poor pegasus had just been taken from her home and stabbed through with a spear, which can't help her state of mind. Lily seemed to be very brave to try and stand at this time, much more than before, but Jade held her tongue so the argument between her companions would not increase.

"I don't know what you can do," she said, trotting over to Lily as she fell to the ground. "Do what you think is right. The forest could help, although if you choose not to join, I understand...and I would love to see you again sometime."

When Lily was standing, although rather shakily, Jade felt a tiny kiss on her cheek. She had never been in a relationship before - nothing even close - and she didn't know if this qualified exactly or if it was even what Sparrow was aiming for, so she decided just to keep quiet and try to stop blushing. "No problem." Her embarrassed expression slowly left her face.

At Applejack's admonishment Fixit hung his head. The Supreme Commander's criticism stung him more deeply than he would have liked and he responded to her with a muffled "Sorry ma'am."

When the messenger came bearing new of Stormwing's request for help, then, he felt his heart lift. Perhaps this could be the chance they had been waiting for; a chance to finally break out of the perpetual stalemate and surge forward into enemy territory. Perhaps this battle would be the catalyst for an inter-House alliance, and then who knew what they might accomplish?

He peeked out over the battlements, and could see Commander Rainbow Dash standing outside the gates. Cloudsdale called for aid, and their leader was bold enough to request it in person. He found his respect for Stormwing growing by the minute.

When Applejack requested his prescence in Cloudsdale, he eagerly accepted "Of course, ma'am. There's no place I would rather be than by your side." He snapped another sharp salute and stood still, waiting for her to lead the way.

House Everfree: Fluttershy

Fluttershy looked at the ceiling for a moment, drawing on her memory. "I do not know how long the Liege has collected souls Rain and it pains me to say so," she eventually admitted. "My own Madre died in Everfree's shaded clearings long ago, but I do not know if she rests in the Well of Those Passed. I can hear them when their magic is drawn to me, but the voices are quiet as the whispering of the leaves and all speak their minds at once, mingling the speech to the point of incoherency." She looked at Rain and sighed. "I chose to tell you this Rain, because as I said there are only a select few who knew before now. Those that did were all like myself, either their souls were held hostage or they were too weak to resist The Everfree Liege's call. His voice is like the Siren Song of legend, mesmerizing and beautiful, but it only leads to pain and death for those who listen." She looked at the ground, seeming rather bitter with herself. "The Deer are... exempt from his influence, for the time being. Perhaps it is their ancestral tie with the Forest, but it refuses to touch their souls what-ever the case is."

She looked at Rain sadly. "It was like Lily said Rain. The Forest is sick, rotting from the inside under the stone fist of the Liege. He will never stop until the Forest is dominant or he is banished forever. As long as the smallest shred of plant-life exists in Equestria he will command its allegiance and will start the war anew no matter the cost. Many see me as the Fierce Lady of the Forest, but the truth is that I'm still Fluttershy, just collared under a stronger being's leash." She sat against the bowl with a sigh. "Whats worse, the stronger he grows, the weaker I become. Each tree that is grown makes his grip over me all the more difficult to break. Soon, I will outwardly be nothing but a shell of myself, with my true mind trapped inside. I'm desperate Rain, like a rat driven into a corner who would do anything to get out."

House Everfree: Sand and the Everfree Liege

Sand appeared from the shadows, having vacated his position in the upper gantries to check on the mares. Now he was dressed in what appeared to be scaled battle gear, but what the scales came from was not apparent. They caught the light and seemed to bend it around him, making him blend in with the environment he stood in. To compensate this he wore a rough and heavy brown cloak. His horn buzzed faintly with magic, keeping an eye on his surroundings. "It seems that things are going to change quickly and painfully if this incident is anything to go by."

The Liege turned his wooden form to look at Sand, sizing him up. "So it would seem," he responded in a silken tone. "Better that we be the ones who are not receiving the pain then now shouldn't we? Mares." He turned to the three in question. "Lady Fluttershy has stated this before I believe, but you must remain inside of the castle boundaries, especially after what has happened. The Timberwolves and Wraiths will be out in vast numbers to scour the Forest for intruders and it would be unfortunate to have them mistake you for someone else."

Sand made his way over to Lily and sat down next to her. "I'm sorry I couldn't have stopped that spear," he whispered. "Fast and thin moving objects are hard to control from a distance."

House Everfree: Parthos the Younger

Parthos bristled momentarily as Braeburn approached. Settling his bark back down, he bent over to adress the pony directly. "Doubtless your commander Applejack will receive news as soon as her scouts come back from Cloudsdale, but Everfree is no longer a place for Ents who would be anything more than shackled engines of war. I cannot tell you why, for I do not know, but the Everfree Liege has unleashed Zecora the Witch Queen upon the Ent-Kin, allowing her to experiment on us. She has mutated most of Ent-Kind into Abominations, deathly slaves that have no soul or free will. They are... transformed into foul things, boasting weapons that truly destroy everything they touch. The few I have with me are those who were nearby when the Liege..." He seemed to tear up for a moment, quite a unique expression from an Ent. "He took my Tree-Father, Parthos the Elder. He turned into something wretched and used what was left to manifest his thrice-accursed presence into the physical world. I must speak to Applejack and Rainbow Dash NOW. The latter was fueled by rage and may very well have doomed not only her friend, but the vast majority of living things to destruction. There is still a slim chance, but it is narrowing by the minute."

House Everfree: Zecora the Witch Queen

Again the forces of Stormwing sallied forth to strike at her, attempting to set ablaze her creations. She had planned for this contingency, as fire was one of the Forest's greatest enemies. Green living wood was harder to burn, but easier to destroy, so that was out of question. Instead, she had simply changed the nature of the water and magic that ran through the wood of her Ent-slaves. Simply put, the bark secreted a clear fluid that caused the flames to burn away from the direction of the wood, which had caused noticable explosions while leaving the Ents unharmed during testing. The pony operators were a bit more problematic, but it wasn't like she was exactly going to run out of those if she played her cards right. On the gunnery decks of the Grand Oak, strategically positioned vats of fire-repellant gel were positioned within hooves reach of each position. This left the question of how these guns would be operated should an intense flame attack occur, so she simply linked the guns into the gel vats to save time.

A small buzz in her ear from a wasp told her that the preparations were complete at last. She was glad, as this battle was beginning to bore her and she had better things to do than swat gnats. In the distance a dark red rune lit up, stretching for hundreds of meters.

Even from the air it seemed rather garbled with no definite shapes or borders. It flashed once, and disappeared. A faint rumble echoed across the sky, born by a strong wind. In mere moments the sky had gone dark with thundering clouds, all drawn towards the rune like wolves to fresh prey. They joined together and began to swirl, kicking up ferocious winds and casting lightning far and wide. In little under a minute a hurricane had been summoned into the skies around Cloudsdale.

House Whutegold - Manehatten - Military Headquarters - Some Random Room - Armor closet

The soldier stayed concealed in his hiding place in the closet in a box that he sealed shut from the inside. I have to stay still. I have to stay quiet. I have to- DARN IT! I don't have my weapon with me! Then he accidently cut his hoof on something sharp, which revealed itself to be a blade not as short as a dagger but not as long as a longsword. He scrambled a little for the handle and held it tightly. He then pointed it upwards in case he had to get out or if whoever as singing that ear-bleeding song found him. He was a little relaxed though because he was wearing two layers of armor, one of which was in this box and intended for a pony larger than himself.

House Whitegold - Manehatten - Manehatten Hospital Class No. 1 - Sweetie Belle's room

The nurses injected nerve blocks into Sweetie Belle, preventing the transmission of nerve impulses to prevent pain. The prateorponies surrounded her and the nurses as they did their work. This is very unpleasant, uncomfortable, painful, agonizing, tormenting! Sigh... why the hay did that mare want to kill me of all ponies! I mean, I know I'm a famous singer and the patron of the Artisan District, but still! Her ears then perked up at the sound of the guards ordering a zebra away. It's that fan! She really came here?! "No worries. This zebra means no harm," she said, forcing herself to stay calm. They immediately made an opening for the zebra to get through. "How the hay did you get here?!" she said in a hushed whisper.

House Whitegold - Manehatten - Ivory Tower - Rarity's room

Rarity was getting excited by this, but was still suspicious. She didn't want this "unicorn" to turn this new technology on her and she had to figure out his abilities and what he's capable of before she can say "yes". "What is it you can do to make this machine do as you wish it?" she asked, taking a few sips from her own cup of tea. She looked at his invention while contemplating what she would do with it. She was pretty hesitant since she preferred to rely on the spy network for offense and slowly kill the other factions with charm and espionage. Eyes and ears, our shields and spears.

Whitetail Woods - Campsite

Star Rain glared at the former Earthborn soldier. In retaliation, she quickly made a drawing of two dragons. Both were standing in a black and blood-red background. One of them, an aged silver dragon, had his back facing yellow images that indicated memories of when times were peaceful. The other dragon, a young cerulean dragon, was doing the same as the silver dragon. The only difference was that her back was facing crimson and grey pictures, which showed nothing but blood and war. The old ponies are lucky. They have memories of peace and happy times to remember and keep them fighting. Me, Spell Shock, and Lightning? We were BORN into this war with no memories of euphoria whatsoever!

With the sword she stole from the guard in Hoofington, she caused a slash in the center of the drawing. Not only was it attended to attract attention, it was also to vent her frustration on something else other than another pony.

Wind stuck her head out the window and stared down at the group. "HOLD ON...I NEED HIS HEAD." She called, walking a little ways into the room. "Come out come out wherever you ar-" She was cut off as she heard a slight shuffling from the closet. "Bingo." She said, smiling wildly and moving towards the closet. "I've fouuuund youuuuuuu." She said, throwing open the door...but no pony was inside...all that was there was a few sets of boots, some dust, a couple spiders, and a box...a...box. "Oh boy...this is gonna be fun...lots and lots of fun." She said, quickly wrapping the chains around the handles and lid of the box so it would open. "Have you ever been flying before ? I have...but not in a box...and not with a fox...also not in a house with a mou- OKAY, we're getting off topic...you ready to fly Mr Guardy Pants ?" She said, taking a deep breath and pulling the box into the middle of the room...which was rather difficult as there was a pony wearing armor with a sword inside the box.

Rain sat down next to the bowl and gave Fluttershy a sad look. The thought of his mother being stuck in the well was still in his mind but he tried to focus on the here and now. "I vowed that I would protect you and do anything I can to serve you. Is there any way we can get rid of the Lieges hold on you ? Is there any way we can...get rid of him. If that is what you desire of course."

House Everfree: Sand and the Everfree Liege Sand appeared from the shadows, having vacated his position in the upper gantries to check on the mares. "It seems that things are going to change quickly and painfully if this incident is anything to go by."   The Liege turned his wooden form to look at Sand, sizing him up. The Timberwolves and Wraiths will be out in vast numbers to scour the Forest for intruders and it would be unfortunate to have them mistake you for someone else."   Sand made his way over to Lily and sat down next to her. "I'm sorry I couldn't have stopped that spear," he whispered. "Fast and thin moving objects are hard to control from a distance."

Eve looked up from where she knelt in the corner of the room, tending to a wound on her own shoulder, and gazed at the Liege as it spoke. Her face was a mask, impassive. In truth, the mare found the Liege's news most unwelcome. She had absolutely no desire to remain confined in a mouldy old castle any longer than she had to. But she said nothing, for not only had she sworn fealty to the creature before her a long while ago, but for that, she was forced to concede, it had a point.

She dropped her gaze back to her shoulder and began to tend to it again. But, again, she found herself looking up again at Sand. Her eyes narrowed. She had forgotten that he had been there at all. Where had he been? He looked perfectly capable. Perfectly able to hold his own in combat. Buck, he was even wearing some kind of armour under that cloak of his! So why had she found herself fighting Rainbow Dash alone? Snorting in derision, and grumbling to herself under her breath, she returned to the puncture wound on her shoulder yet again.

House Stormwing - Cloudsdale - The Last Gambit

Through all the light and the strength of Stormwing they had been drawn to a full halt. The ranks of Hoplites began to crumble under the sheer ferocity of the attacks, spears shattered and shields broken. Before they knew it the Pegasi were on the retreat once again, falling back to the inner city. Dogmatic’s plan although valiant was ineffective against the ents, for they were unnatural beasts of some kind of magic, shrugging off burn and tinder. Their last hope to clinch victory had failed. Stormwing was on the run.

“Commander!” One of the captains called out to Spitfire as she continued to direct the retreat. She had not gone without her scars, earning a rather impressive one across her eye, impairing her vision. “Ground forces have all but been destroyed, scattered into the east. Ents continue to bombard the city with foul ammunition, scattering cloud and poisoning our city. The last of the Heavy Lancers have returned to the sanctum numbering around 80. Reinforcements from Windsoar have sustained heavy loses, only 130 of their troops able to fight. Our lines fared much worse, only 200 of our Hoplites remaining, not enough to make a stand.”

“Captain, as long as one Pegasus remains standing on four hooves there is still hope of victory. Take your Thunderers and cover our position until all our forces have withdrawn. I don’t care how much of a fuss they put up; those griffins have to fall back. If this is the end then we shall make it an end worthy of remembrance.”

House Everfree – The Southern Ruin – The Dining Hall

It was all a bit confusing being in a place, taken from her quaint little hut and placed into a world of war and cruelty. These ponies were strange, not like what her parents had told her. Many of them were deformed or scarred; some even looked to be completely and utterly insane. It terrified her. To know that there was at least one among them that cared made her feel safe. It was odd, but then again she was an odd pony. Maybe lining in these woods so long took its toll on her?

Sand seemed nice enough though, I mean as far as the residents of Everfree go. She didn’t quite hear or understand everything he said, but It seemed like he was being kind. “Thank you.” She simply said, still shying away slightly behind her mane. Old habits die hard it seems, despite the circumstances.

Lily puzzled over what they should do next. The war had passed off to the north, the woods were safe for now. But there was still the looming shadow across the Everfree, plants becoming sickly and trees rotting to the core. The once quite eves had become the hunting grounds for vicious creatures, nowhere was safe anymore. “We have to talk to Fluttershy.” Lily managed to get out. “She’s the only one who knows what’s happening fully. What else can we do?”

Long Stride – Whitetail Wood – The Campsite

“I was twenty two; those were the days I was becoming a stallion…” Almost out of nowhere the aged stallion began to speak, a gruff tone to his voice. There was neither joy nor sadness in his words. “The oaks were tall and green, as the sun set they glowed as if they were on fire. The hills of the country side turned into fields of gold, the rivers a glistening pool of silver. Our cottage was tucked away in the quietest corner of the wood, only the birds ever breaking the silence.” He looked over to the others, no expression yet creeping over his face. “Maybe someday harmony will return, a day when bonds are rekindled, but that day will never some. Those hopes have passed like grey clouds in the southern wind, like leaves on raging current. They are lost.”

"Magic, milady. I can control it with magic."

The engine coughed and roared into life. It stayed like that for a moment, before shutting down. He looked at the mare.

"Of course, there are a few things. For instance if you aren't a unicorn and can't use magic, I have attached a pedal to it. The only problem is that then a pony has to operate it manually. But I think that issue can be solved."

"But if you aren't willing to help me, then I'm afraid that it cannot be solved unless I go to another house, and that would mean that they would have more power than you would have. Eventually, they would destroy this house, and it would be your own fault."

He debating saying that, but in the end. Decided to stay quiet and wait for a response to her ladyship.

"Solved with help, of course. And sitting here debating with you doesn't solve that problem. I can tell you much more if you give me permission and supplies. I can tell you much more once this is improved, or at least when the improvements begin. I can tell you much more when it is put into use, for once."

Eternity overheard what the stallion said while he was lying down. He picked up his head a little and spoke to him. "Well, if they are lost. Then I will just find them. I rather live in hope of things, returning to how they are supposed to be then quiver in fear at the thought of everything dying around me." He said in a low voice. Almost low enough that they couldn't hear him, but odds were they did hear him.

"Now, If we are going to travel in the morning then I suggest we go to sleep. Good night everyone." He rested his head back down and fell asleep. He had a very unusual dream. A very terrifying dream. He was alone in some city, everything around was burning. He couldn't tell where he was. he was just running, avoiding the blaze. He was very scared. He was calling for Star and Spell, and his Brother. He was very scared. As he was running he tripped over something. He layed on the ground and looked up. And saw two ponies in the distance, but it was blur and he couldn't make out who it was. And then... he woke up.

House Whitegold - Manehatten - Military Headquarters - Some Random Room

Buck, buck, buck, BUCK! Every part of the soldier was relaxed except for his heart and mind. Without another thought, he sprung from the box and drove his sword into the pony who had found him and drew it back. Without stopping to see if he had done any damage to the pegasus or if his blade even had her blood on it, he crashed through a window with full force and landed slightly painfully onto a big bush below. Not stopping to recover, he ran to the other side of the building, found the other blade he attacked the pegasus with from the window, and took off into the same direction as that stallion he had arrived with(albeit by coincidence).

This pony... I'll have to keep him under surveillance. I may not like the sounds of his plan, but I can't let the other Houses or the Cult get their dirty hooves on this engine. "I'll be more than happy to employ the assistance of the arcanists and the artisans to help you in this. But before we put these in mass production, we must make improvements on the original first. And word of this must not go beyond these walls or the special facilities in the arcane or artisan districts," she said quietly with a hint of warning. Or else my blade will taste your blood...

Star Rain sighed with frustration and went to sleep with a foreleg over her sketchbook and her enchanted sword.

She began to have another dream. She awoke on a mountain top bathed in starlight and the land and sea stretched out before her, as far as the eye can see. It was all exhilarating, with ribboning rivers, fields of dark green grass, lush forests, and a shimmering ocean in the distance. Wow... was Equestria like this before? Why did ponies abandon this paradise of a place? Just as she thought that, the stars and the moon disappeared, leaving her in total darkness. The mountain top she was on turned red with blood and something white flashed by over her. Then a mysterious thought just came to her. A friend you'll meet, a truth that can't remember.

Star Rain jolted awake and accidentally cut herself with her sword. "Ow! Ugh..." she said slightly drowsily.
