Cloud sighed and continued to walk, "I've read a few history books in my freetime, and they all talk about the wonderful cities and town that used to grace this city... Princess Celestia would always pick one of these towns for the Summer Sun celebration, which was a huge deal apparently..."

Nidal nodded. "I have no idea what that is but it sounds too bright for me. So you want to return this country to its former glory but most ponies have forgotten the stories of how it was. It just seems so far-fetched for that to happen. How are you even sure that the princesses live?"

Cloud gave Nidal a knowing look, "There is proof every day that they are alive... The sun and moon still continue their daily rising and falling, the magic they used to protect the element was still running strong... if that isnt proof, then I dont know what is"

"You know the story of Discord's first rule? There was no Celestia back there yet the sun and moon moved across the sky. Then in his second, he fucked with the sun and moon, making them rise and set frequently. Why wouldn't Discord get bored of rising and setting the sun after a hundred years of doing it? And about the shields, long term spells don't need to keep getting energy from the caster."

"No matter what you say Nidal, I still believe that they are alive... waiting for the bearers to rise once more. Its all I have to believe in anymore, without something to hold onto, some belief to hold onto... I'm not sure I would last long here.. Dont you have something that you hold close? Something to help you get through each day?"

Nidal decided to be truthful about it, the one thing that keeps her going every day on her own path, and see how he acted. "Yes, I suppose I do have something like that, but this is most likely going to freak you out." She stared into his eyes as she said, "My desire is to end but not in any fashion; I want to end after finishing a mission of mine."

As surprised as Cloud was, he still fixed Nidal with a concerned look, "But... why would you want to end?"

Nidal thought for a minute, they were out of the town by now. "Let's say I have a curse on me, a curse stretching a hundred years. A curse of life. You saw my shoulder a few days ago, did you not? How it healed nearly instantaneously after being hit. The same is true for my entire body. I've lived for a hundred years and my only desire now, is to perish, to end, to die, however you want to say it."

Cloud had noticed the quick healing that Nidal had shown, but he still wore his concerned expression, "But... Nidal... How can you wish to die? Even with the curse you have... have you ever even lived? I dont mean just everyday living... But have you ever experienced the joy of life? To experince the great things about living? I know this isnt the greatest of places to live in... but believe me when I say I have seen beauty in ugly places, Ponies who try their best to keep their kindness in this cruel world... You have seen only pain and destruction, I dont believe you have gotten to experience joy, friendship... or even love" he trailed off, not knowing what else to say...

"If you can honestly say that after I show you the truth, I'll give it a shot, but there are too many eyes here. Tonight, we'll leave during one of their shifts, and I'll show you the truth, but if you tell anyone else should you choose to allow me to continue, I will turn my blade on you and the rest of them." She opened her wings and bolted towards the forest.

Lunatic finished building a camp.

"i gues that all those survival books had there purpose"and Lunatic smiled.

He looked up at the sky to see nidal flying towards him.

"HEY NIDAL!!!" he started to wave.

"DOWN HERE!"

Black Lightning set down on a nearby rooftop, having been flying around spying on the group up to this point.

"Ugh. Note to self: Flying for too long makes your wings hurt. Brain, take note here please...!"

Nidal glided down to L and looked at the camp. She nodded and said, "Very nice, L. I'll take the first shift, then someone else while me and C2 go to speak about something further in. We've got, what, 6 ponies, so each of us will take an hour, maybe an hour and ten minutes." She went up a nearby tree away from the end of the forest and watched the openings between the trees.

Cloud looked around the makeshift shelter, where Lightning and Ampyrion were already asleep "Wow... Impressive Lunatic" he walked around the camp and laid down, waiting for Nidal's shift to be over...

Black Lightning watched them, and saw how friendly they were towards each other... well, Cloud and Lunatic anyway.

He felt something deep in his chest, just slightly.

"What the Buck? Ugh. Just look away, and it'll be fine."

((Kinda late BL... anyway, time skip: approximately one hour. LB is now watching the camp.))

 

Nidal dropped to the camp and woke LB for his shift. She looked at C2 and pointed her head further into the forest before flying in the same direction.

Cloud got up and flew off to follow Nidal, Now we find the truth, he thought to himself

Nidal stopped eventually and landed in between the trees. "Here will do."

Cloud landed and faced Nidal, "Very well... I believe now is the time you told me what you came out here to tell me" he sat down, his full attention on Nidal...

Nidal nodded and rose a hoof to her chest. A chain appeared around her of what seemed to be silver but she covered a larger object in the center. After a second's thought, she lowered her hoof. There was a necklace around her neck and the pendant was in the shape of a gold coin. "I am Greed. My curse is that of being Discord's creation; I can not die. I have lived for a hundred years and done my share of the world on this land, but everything I told you about losing everything I cared about, that was true. I came to love Equestria, but I still had to destroy it. Now, what will you do?"

Cloud felt a weight fall into his chest, he had his suspicions but could never make a proper decision. He did not know what to think, he had come to care for her... if only to an extent, but he felt his care for her grow as they continued traveling. "So... you were Greed this whole time... I... I dont know what to think. But I will not make you leave. As we have traveled, I have come to realize that, you do care for others, even if you dont admit to it. Nidal, I cannot say I completely trust you, but our travels have caused me to care about you. You may stay with us, and the others will not know of your secret... I promise..."

Nidal absorbed the crystal back into her skin, a skill that she was given from being Greed. A storage chamber inside herself to allow for easy thievery. "Thank you. If you need to know anything about Discord or anything else, I won't hold back with information anymore."

"Thank you Nidal, any information you have will be appreciated... now... could you be able to promise me, that when this is over, if Discord is defeated and you are lifted of your curse, will you try to live your life like how I had told you before? Will you give life a chance? to learn happiness, friendship, love? Can you please at least try to do so? To know you have lived a good life, to be able to grow old and die naturally, is much more fulfilling than that if you just kill yourself the first chance you get"

"I don't think killing Discord will remove my curse. You'd actually have to cleanse it off me with the elements, but I'm not sure if that will remove my existence completely or just let me age. My soul is artificial, you know; Discord created it to be a host for Greed, so my eternal life and my very existence might be tied together in one."
