I don't like anime shows in general. But..i do love anime movies by Hayao Miyazaki.

For example.

*Spirited Away

*Howls moving Castle

*My Neighbor Totoro e.t.c

But i do have to say its Naruto.

Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Z Kai.

DBZ suffers from the old "it's popular, so I hate it" syndrome. While I won't deny that there are some valid complaints, I guarantee you people wouldn't make such a big deal about these complaints if DBZ wasn't as popular as it is now.

DBZ Kai gets so much unfair hate that it's not even funny. Most people judge it by the TV versions and automatically assume that it was meant to be a kid-friendly version of DBZ, but they're wrong. Kai has an uncut version on the DVD's and Blu-Rays, filled with most of the blood from the original, and much more cursing than the original uncut dub.

Oh, and even though I'm not a Naruto fan, I still think that it gets too much unfair hate.

I think this happens with Fairy Tail.

Many people just say stuff like: "It's just like One Piece, Naruto and Dragonball mixed, nothing special", but for me, this is one of the greatest animes I've ever seen.

The characters are great, the emotions are great, the soundtrack is just epic!

For me I think that it would be Soul Eater

Even though I'm not a huge fan of it anymore

The storyline was way more unique than other anime shows

That consider to fall under the same shadow as Soul Eater does

And not only that, but the characters are really awesome

Honestly, I laugh whenever Death The Kid's OCD behavior kicks in

I think the anime/animes that get unfair hate in my opinion is, Naruto and Dragonball Z.

They have been popular for a long time, but some people just don't want to admit that they both have their ups and downs but they are still good. Most things are good when they start out for their 1st year, but animes do not need hate in general.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

Some people always seem to bash it, that hate was even worse before it even aired, and erupted into a heated argument between anime-only viewers and the manga readers ("The anime was perfect! Why another?!" "Shut up and just watch, it will be completely new and GOOD! Its based on the REAL story from the manga." )

As a fan of the manga, this saddens me greatly, that some people refuse to even try it, or unfairly diss it thinking its a copy of the first anime. Brotherhood stays much closer to the original story than the first anime, which dare I say, is better in so many ways! Yes, the first anime had its strong points, but also alot of "Wtf am I watching?!" moments as well.

On the plus side, those who have watched both have now erupted into a new argument: which anime was better?

I think this happens with Fairy Tail.

Many people just say stuff like: "It's just like One Piece, Naruto and Dragonball mixed, nothing special", but for me, this is one of the greatest animes I've ever seen.

The characters are great, the emotions are great, the soundtrack is just epic!

I like Fairy Tail, and I greatly enjoy reading the manga, but I don't LOVE it, and I can understand people's criticisms.

I absolutely adore One Piece. It has such an elaborate story that intertwines and connects. Beneath every story arc you can sense theres multiple ones brewing beneath it, which you can tell its creator has something very epic already planned for the ending of the series.

Fairy Tail? It looks like One Piece, but it just doesn't feel like One Piece. Where One Piece you get the sense that Oda knows what he wants to do and where he wants to go with it, Mashima just seems to be making stuff up as he goes along.

What are some anime shows that you feel get too much unfair hate? For me, it's Naruto, Naruto Shippuden, and probably Bleach as well.

Like Fairy Tail, with Bleach, I enjoy it, but I don't LOVE it, and can understand people's criticisms as well.

At one point, I did love Bleach...until it got past the Soul Society story line. I still love Kubo's art style, its almost...poetic...the way he lays out his panels, and manages to come up with some really fun, creative ideas (as proven in his other work, Zombie Powder), but the man does NOT know how to write a coherent story.

I stopped watching the anime just before I started the 2nd filler story arc (ep 167-ish?), and stuck with the manga as I felt it cut the crap and moved at a faster pace (which it did). But even he manga has been dragging its heels, keeping it going for as long as possible.

I'd say that Death Note gets more hate than it deserves. Most people that hate it seem to do so more because of the fandom than the actual series. The series itself is pretty good for the most part (obviously goes downhill after a certain point) but, unfortunately, it tends to attract a pretty awful fanbase.

The Big Three (One Piece, Naruto, Bleach).

The only one of the three I really am even a big fan of is One Piece. Naruto I find okay, and Bleach I find boring. However, I think all three get much more hate than they deserve. Hating them is practically a fad. It's not that criticism should not be allowed, it most certainly should. But when it comes to those who flat out hate the series, I hardly see any criticism. All I see is shallow comments like "it's overrated" or "it's trash". How anybody could think these series are actually overrated anymore is way beyond me. I hardly see any positive comments towards Naruto and Bleach anymore. All I see is hate, hate, hate, hate.

I know, One Piece is quite the popular series. I included it on the list because it sees a fair share of hate, despite what many think. One Piece is prone to the same shallow comments that the others are. in addition, it often times gets called "endless" and criticized for not ending on whatever arc it is currently on. You know what this shows? They haven't actually watched or read it. They look at the episode/chapter count, see that it's a popular Shounen series and they instantaneously label it as "endless Shonen trash".

I understand that a lot of Shonen can get very stale. In fact, a lot of anime in general has gotten very stale to me. I just really can't find the motivation to start new series these days. It's all the same to me for some reason... BUT I really hate this anti-Shonen elitism. Mainly because not only do they sit on their high horse, but they also make it clear that they have no clue what in the world they're talking about. You don't get to sit on a high horse when you're clueless.

If I could, I would give this post a thousand brohoofs. I too am sick of the whole anti-Shonen thing that's going on amongst the anime fandom, and quite frankly, it makes me unable to tolerate a lot anime fans.

I'm not a fan of anime as a genre, but there are anime's that I have enjoyed personally because they were funny or thoroughly a cool idea that I found interesting that I have found many people hating.

Ranma 1/2 is probably my favorite out of what I've seen, but I have been called a pervert multiple times for watching it. I'm not sure if the people saying that are ignorant, trolls, or just haters (probably the first) but I find this hilarious and ironic. If anyone out the has seen it then you will understand what I mean.

Another pointer on that is well....most of us know animes like DBZ and Sailor Moon

As the entry point ones, look they may not be as good as a lot of other ones

But honestly without the anime series that got highly popular then a lot of us

Wouldn't be here right now typing up about what anime shows that we like

I grew up watching Dragonball, Sailor Moon, and just like any other anime kid Pokemon, and Digimon

Though all of these may not be as good as the ones that I watch today

We should all stop and remember these series for what they are

Because honestly, I doubt that I'd be such a huge anime fan without those ones that I grew up watching

I'm not sure about you guys but I'm an angel beats lover. Through and through. However I feel it gets a little too much hate. The story is great and it has good action and FANTASTIC music. I can't get the songs out of my head. And that's a good thing for me! Most people say angel beats is boring and it drags on but I think it's perfect. And the ending. I cried for half an hour. I don't cry very often.

Naruto gets a lot of hate mail. I don't understand where it's a Dragon Ball wannabe when in DBZ all they do is... just throw a bunch of energy balls at each other. There's a lot more variety going on in Naruto and the main hero doesn't always saves the day like every cliche shonen anime out there in fact it's a lot more interesting that the main hero can be incompetent at times.

Overall everyone likes other anime, I just don't see why Naruto is getting all this hate. It's one of the most badass cartoons I've seen.

I loved Angel Beats as well, and I friggin love the soundtrack! I like to turn up the volume when I have Girl's Dead Monster on and have my car windows rolled down.

I think the reason why people "hate" it so much was the fact that it just ended so abruptly, I know I myself hated that. There was just so much potential story left, but sadly due to the lack of funding they had to cut it short. Such a shame really.

I'd love to see KyoAni redo it and expand on the story, like what they did with Air, Kanon, and Clannad (which where all done by the same writer as AB).

Another point I'd like to bring up: DBZ also gets unfair hate by the people who go "omg no plot, just guys screaming for 30 minutes."

DBZ had a plot. A great one, in fact. It was simple, yes, but a story doesn't have to be complex to be good.

I love how DBZ is mostly a light-hearted story compared to a lot of other anime out there. It doesn't heavily revolve around angsty back stories and characters, and the plot never took itself too seriously (which is why I'm not really a fan of Naruto. The plot, IMO, just took itself too seriously the more it progressed).

The three mainstreamers. Naru, OP, Bleach.

Though, a lot of the hate is from fans of each of the series for the others.

I'm part of the OP side.

Gurren Lagann - Looked down upon by 'newbie' enthusiasts for being a 'mech' anime.

(who watches this for MECH?)

Who is "most" people? It's a ranked anime even among enthusiasts

Where do you find Angel Beats HATERS? I've never met any.

p.s. try out Ano Hana. It would suit you, hopefully.

No, this anime is a legend as a genderbender series.

People are called perverts for liking kid's shows, too.

The series itself is not hated, it's awesome.

Fairy Tail

The series itself has a decent plot and fair characters with heavy emphasis on

"NOBODY GOOD SHOULD EVER HAVE TO DIE."

I say it gets unfair hate because "I" hate it.

Erza was the only decent character with a plausible background.

Natsu is the generic 'Luffy'. (seriously, too many similarities)

Laxus... awesome, but they only gave him one arc. What a killjoy.

They suck at telling the story in a fascinating way. (I stopped watching round the S rank tests)

Jellal should either have mortally wounded, killed or died at the hands of Erza.

Forreal, he's the most baseless character in the series. (not the most in anime history, but clearly in the ranks)

For me I think that it would be Soul Eater

Well, I think I can relate.

Most of the characters are awesome, but I think, I know why it's hated, for I know why I hate it.

First : Maka's voice. The most backward choice of voice for her, period.

Second : Tsubaki x Blackstar. Didn't get enough screentime. Eff.

Third : The ending. Go read the manga, you'll understand.

Fourth : Still the ending. Wtf is with that sudden plot twist and takeover.

Fifth : Without any ACTUAL context, Kishin, the only villian as good as Medusa, dies from a PUNCH.

Sixth : Eruka. MORE SCREENTIME NEEDED.

Seventh : Mabaa. Hmm, could've used more details.

As for me I think that Dragon Ball Z and Bleach, and Soul Eater get a lot of hate even though they are awesome shows to watch and just because the shows have high ratings too.

The only problem I have with these are that they are fuel for phony Otaku..... But i if i had to say one i'd say Dance in the Vampire Bund.... Or Shugo Chara people get the wrong idea

I'd say Naruto and DBZ get a lot of undeserved hate for various reasons already mentioned.

Then there's Bleach and Pokemon which, while not as badly as the previous two, still carry an unjust bad rep.

Finally I'd add two out of the Yu-Gi-Oh! series, the Duel monsters series and the 5D's series, While they may not be as "awesome" as some other anime I think they deserve a little more credit. I constantly see people hating them because:

- there's an official card game which is supposedly "for kids".

- they go by the (unnecessarily) edited and censored 4kids dub.

- motorcycles... yeah, that's all, people don't even look at the series, they just see motorcycles and decide to hate it.

- people assume there's no plot.

Ironically, Yu-Gi-Oh! GX, while less appreciated among Yu-Gi-Oh! fans, does not get as much hate as the other two from what I've seen.

Elfen Lied; I know there's a lot of gore and nudity but it's really good.

That's not the reason why people hate it

People hate it because it's an "entry level"

It was supposed to be a horror anime though there isn't much horror in it

And all of the people who hate Elfen Lied say the same thing:

"Higurashi did it way better than Elfen Lied did"

Sword Art Online

I am not an avid reader of light novels, and I don't mix the written material with the visual series... ever. But all that this show has gotten was hatred and contempt from the fans. I do not get it.

Bleach

All I hear is how it's got too much filler, and tries too hard to be DBZ... I laugh. I laugh hard.

There are others... but these are the only ones that redily came to mind.

sorry but Bleach and Naruto are not unfairly hated considering how many more people like the show then hate it , i personally find Naruto to be awesome but somewhat over rated because many newer Otaku call it the greatest anime out there and i hate bleach for the fact it didn't stop when i should have (i use to only hate the anime but its spread to the manga past chapter 500)

actually its actually hard for me to think of an anime that is unfairly hated because when i think of why people hate a certain anime, i can understand there point of view remember its all personal taste.

but i guess i have to pick on so Fullmetal Alchemist the 2003 version gets bashed allot by FMA Brotherhood fanboys all the time because it was not like the manga (which was unfinished during its creation) and seem to for get the it this an the movie didn't do so damn well in japan and the states FMA B wouldn't be.
