"Hello! Welcome to the world of Pokémon! My name is Oak. People call me Pokémon Prof. This world is inhabited by creatures that we call Pokémon. People and Pokémon live together by supporting each other. Some people play with Pokémon, some battle with them. But we don't know everything about Pokémon yet. There are still many mysteries to solve. That's why I study Pokémon every day. 
 
This Pokémon roleplay experience is fairly straightforward. It takes place (as per request) in the Johto region. You, as a Pokémon trainer or coordinator, are either new to the region or just starting your Pokémon journey. For the sake of the roleplay, let's say the minimum age of setting out on your Pokémon journey in Johto has been raised to 16 years of age.

RULES:
 

1. Absolutely no godmodding or instant hits. That goes for everything, from Pokémon battles to a hotdog-eating competition.
2. In extension, no controlling characters or Pokémon that aren't yours.
3. You start with a single Pokémon, usually first form, and the Pokémon you obtain over the course of your adventures must be native to Johto or Kanto, unless you invent an NPC to trade with, which I would appreciate it if you would ask permission for first. Exceptions can be made, but you need to talk to me or a mod about it first.
4. Final form Pokémon found in the wild are too powerful to catch early on in the RP, and middle form Pokémon, such as Flaaffy and Pidgeotto will present a formidable challenge, but will be catchable. Generally it's easier to catch a Pokémon if you bond with it first, like tends to happen in the Anime. 
5. Do not think it necessary to evolve all your Pokémon all the way. Look at the Anime. Most trainers you see will often not evolve their Pokémon all the way, and they still end up being fairly powerful. Look at Totodile and Squirtle. If you're imaginative enough, things should work out for you.
6. No person or Pokémon is perfect. Remember that they all have their flaws.
7. No legendary encounters. You are, by extension, not allowed to own a legendary pokemon, or a semilegendary such as Dragonite, Tyranitar, Metagross, Salamence, Hydreigon or Garchomp. Non-fully evolved Pokémon of those family trees are okay.
8. Keep in mind a Pokémon's natural disposition. None but the strongest trainers would be able to tame a Gyarados and hope to remain alive. 
9. Romance is allowed, but don't get carried away with it. Same goes for alcohol.

10. Trading and battling other simmers is allowed.

11. Don't use your Pokémon to threaten or injure people. That's Team Rocket's job. Unless, you know, you're just as horrible a person as most members of Team Rocket. Or just really friggin hate that guy.
12. If you have any ideas on what to do with the roleplay, please do not hesitate to let me know.  I'm always open to ideas.

But before you start your journey, tell me a little about yourself. Well, I'm pretty friendly, and good with raising pokemon. Might be due to my upbringing. My folks owned a day care in a backwoods town. I used to watch my folks tend to the Pokémon trainers left while I sketched them. Occasionally we would travel into Veilstone or Hearthome, and just... the hugeness of it all was astonishing. Everything was amazing, and I enjoyed looking at all the well groomed people and Pokémon there. I wanted to have regal and beautiful pokémon like that of my own one day. But when that day did come, the town seemed shocked that I was leaving to be a Pokémon trainer. They seemed to think I'd be too weak for it. And... They were probably right...

Where do you call home? Solaceon Town, in Sinnoh. It's where I met my first partner, and where my Pokémon journey began.
 
What is your dearest ambition? (Are you a trainer, or a coordinator?) Well, I wanted to be a great Pokémon master in my youth, but I'm not so sure anymore. I can't stomach it. I mean, I'll still try, but I don't like seeing my Pokémon getting hurt. But I'm not sure what else there is for me to do. Maybe I'll try the Pokéathlon, or participating in contests. Maybe that's where I should be instead.

 

Have you traveled before, practicing your craft in other regions? Well, yes, I have. I spent some time in Sinnoh, and when things there didn't go my way, I travelled to Hoenn, hoping to get a start there, but it was just too hot there. I left within the week, and here I am now. Johto is much more bearable. Hoenn's too humid.
 
What Pokémon will be your partner, from the very beginning? Well, that'd be Aipom here. I met him just monkeying around in the a tree behind our house one day, you know, in Solaceon town. He seemed pretty disappointed; nobody had slathered any honey on the trees that day. It's a bit of a tradition around there, you know how it goes. Well, anyway, I went and stole took some honey from the kitchen, and gave it to Aipom. He and I have been besties ever since. Right, Aipom? Pah! 

Aipom's not alone, though. Before I left for Hoenn, my folks gave me an Eevee they bred. I don't know what I want to evolve it into, but it's just the cutest darn thing.
 
What do you look like? Well, if for some reason you don't recognise me by the Aipom that's always on my shoulder or swinging on branches overhead (he hates his Pokéball)... I'm a tall, somewhat skinny guy with thick-framed glasses, blue eyes and dark hair that I like to sweep to one side. I almost always wear my hoodie, english violet in color, and a simple pair of faded blue jeans. I don't really look like anyone else from my town, though. It's weird.

 

Since it's not likely to have character pages for humans here, just take some time answering Professor Oak's questions so we can get some idea what your character is like. And I have every right to request you revise your application, or to reject you altogether, so don't get huffy with me if I don't like your story.

 

If you're not originally from Johto, you'll be arriving into the region either from Kanto via New Bark Town or by ship via Olivine City. Please mention which the case is, if you're not already in Johto when the RP starts.

 

WARNING! There have been accounts of resurgent activity of Team Rocket in several areas around Johto, including the Whirlpool Islands, the Ruins of Alph, and Dark Cave, among many others. Be careful. The region is no longer as safe as it once was. If Team Rocket is encountered, be very careful. They WILL try to steal your Pokémon.

Now, what did you say your name was? Luna (Not named after the princess...its just a pretty name.)

How old are you? 17

Where do you call home? Dewford Town

What is your dearest ambition? (Are you a trainer, or a coordinator?) I want to become the number one (Psychic) Pokemon trainer in the world. I only focus on my goal and I wont let anything get in my way...Some say I am a little too focused.

Have you traveled before, practicing your craft in other regions? After moving from Dewford I started training in Olivine City and I have only recently left to travel around the rest of Johto

What Pokémon will be your partner, from the very beginning? (Under certain conditions, I will allow you two to start with.) Abra. We first met late one night after I was being bullied by some kids in my home town. He found me crying near the river and followed me home...I thought he would leave that night but he didn't so I fed him and took care of him and eventually we became the best of friends.

 

What do you look like? I'm tall with very long black hair. I have a thin face. I am rather pale. I wear dark clothes, most of the time I wear black loose pants, a dark purple long sleeve shirt and a sunhat (Sunhats are best hat). I will sometimes put my hair up in a ponytail but I usually keep it down...I am not that focused on looks. You will always find me with Abra by my side...Always.

 But before you start your journey, tell me a little about yourself.- I'm quite talkative, cheerful,calm and  all around a pretty chill guy who tends to just go with the flow of things and see where it takes me. But when I need to be I can take the initiative and tackle things head on with some kind of plan.

How old are you? 17
Where do you call home? I'm from Pacifilog town in the Hoenn region  
What is your dearest ambition? I just go with the flow of the tide and its pushing me to be the best Pokemon trainer I can be 
Have you traveled before, practicing your craft in other regions? well I did abit of sight seeing throughout the Hoenn region but i wanted to start somewhere fresh and far so why not Johto.
What Pokémon will be your partner, from the very beginning? that would have to be my Poliwag, but i guess he isn't rely my pokemon I was out in the ocean swimming quite far way from town (pretty much what i did everyday) and i just saw his Pokeball it bobbing up and down in the water so i grabbed it before some Carvanha snapped it up. no matter how hard i tried I never did find her true partner so I adopted him and he's been my best pal since.

what do you look like? well i'm fairly tanned , short brown hair with to little clips on the left side (boys can were then too you know), I also have this rely annoying scar on my upper right arm. I wear a green sleeveless hoodie, and brown shorts and shoes....... thats about it rely i do have other cloths but i keep in my pack for when and if i need then.

Where do you call home? Lilycove City in Hoenn. I don't really fancy water and all, but you know, you make do with what you have.
 
What is your dearest ambition? (Are you a trainer, or a coordinator?) Well, being the Pokemon Champion and all that jazz. However, I aim to be even better then that. Pokemon are supposed to be limitless in power, so once I reach the title of Champion, I aim to sweep everyone off their feet with my power! (Trainer... :V)
 
Have you traveled before, practicing your craft in other regions? Not really. I've tried battling with the wild pokemon in the area, but they're generally very weak, and not much of a point in battling with. I never had the ability to travel very far, due to my mother being a bit over protective. She's allowing me to now, obviously, but I'm kinda new to this.
 
What Pokémon will be your partner, from the very beginning? Well, I actually have two pokemon. My partner is a female Oddish. She's not very powerful, but we'll work on that. I also have an Absol... but he doesn't really listen to me. Ever. I haven't even gotten to see how good he is at battling. He was a gift from my father, so he has no intent of listening to me.
 

What do you look like? I'm kinda short, for my age, but I'm also a bit skinny. I generally wear a white tank top with an open jacket, and demin jeans and sneakers. I have dark tan skin, and violet eyes. My hair is short, and almost completely white, with one red streak at the front.

 But before you start your journey, tell me a little about yourself. I am a bit shy. I've always enjoyed the company of my best Pokemon friend. Spending a lot of time solving puzzles has made me quite clever.

I doesn't enjoy too much contact and tend to come off as snarky as sarcastic. Some find it funny when I makes comments.

My main hobby is swimming, a thing my and my Pokemon both enjoy a lot.

What is your dearest ambition? (Are you a trainer, or a coordinator?) To become trainer, grow as a trainer and become a great one. Specifically have an affinity for water Pokemon. Perhaps one day I can become a gym leader. Being the best isn't important. Just being, very, very good.

Have you traveled before, practicing your craft in other regions? Only been on holidays with my dearest Pokemon friend Eevee. Been around some regions just for sightseeing. Although I know some things about the places, it's been a while since I've gone anywhere. I have never traveled on foot between cities and actually did some proper training. I've lived a life of some luxury so far.

  What Pokémon will be your partner, from the very beginning? (Under certain conditions, I will allow you two to start with.)   Eevee. He has been with me since I was about 8 years old. We always slacked around, had fun. Because of this, i prefer to keep him outside of his.ball. One day, I plan to evolve him into a Vaporeon.

 

The second Pokemon I own is a Swablu, On my last trip to Hoenn I noticed her. She seemed to want to be around me but test me, thinking I was a trainer. So I decided to do my first fight  I managed to weaken it and used a Pokeball someone lent me. I caught my first Pokemon and thought I would be quite good at this. Making me decide to start this journey.

 

What do you look like? I'm 6 foot 3, white. I have long messy blue hair and green eyes. I have a slim body build. I always wear an orange t-shirt with black sleeves. And some blue shorts. (They are comfy and easy to wear).

 But before you start your journey, tell me a little about yourself. Well I'm all around pretty nice though I can be a bit rash and sarcastic at times. 

Now tell me. Are you a boy? Or are you a girl? Well I was a boy the last time I checked.
Now, what did you say your name was? Leon.
How old are you? 17 years old.
Where do you call home? Unova, more specifically Virbank City. 
What is your dearest ambition? (Are you a trainer, or a coordinator?) I've wanted to challenge a region's Pokemon League pretty much all my life. I guess I was inspired by Red, I always thought he was cool when I was a bit younger.
Have you traveled before, practicing your craft in other regions? Yes. As I said I'm from Unova and I even got a few badges but I stopped challenging the gyms a while back so im a little rusty. Recently though I've gotten the urge to give Johto's gyms a shot.
What Pokémon will be your partner, from the very beginning? (Under certain conditions, I will allow you two to start with.)Growlithe and Riolu here. I remember my dad catching Growlithe for me as a birthday present. He knew I wanted to challenge the gyms so he figured I ought to have a Pokemon to battle with. I only got about 3 badges before I heard one of Team Plasma's speeches. I had heard of them before and at first I thought they were just like Team Rocket, those guys Red fought, but after hearing that speech....Well needless to say I released all my Pokemon. As I was walking away Growlithe ran in front of me. He wouldn't leave no matter how much I told him to so I figured I should just keep him. A few months after that, while I was in Floccesy Town visiting family, I heard Growlithe barking wildly. When I found him he was fighting with a Riolu over some berries. I guess the Riolu sensed my aura or something [don't they tend to that?] because when I came over the Riolu stopped fighting and acted like he wanted to come with me. He did of course and the next day I bought a Pokeball for him and decided to challenge Johto's gyms. I suppose the fight between Growlithe and Riolu inspired me to start battling again so here I am. 

What do you look like? I'm nothing to special, pretty average really. I wear a blue shirt with a black jacket, blue jeans, gray shoes, blue eyes, brown hair that is somewhat long [it's just barley in my face] and a lot of the time I will have my headphones with me. I guess since I'm from Virbank I really love music, especially Roxie's.

 But before you start your journey, tell me a little about yourself. I am quite impatient and love to explore around Azelea town. Unlike others in my area, I am not a big fan of bugs. They kinda creep me out. I often find myself reading to waste time, as, like I said, I am impatient. I never go any where without Spearow, so she can usually be found sitting in my hair as she dislikes poke-balls. I am not easily angered and am usually very tolerant, thus I make friends quite easily.

Now, what did you say your name was? Xatio (Don't ask. I like to smash keyboard for names)
How old are you? Sixteen
Where do you call home? Azelea town, Johto
What is your dearest ambition? Up to this day I have dreamed of becoming a famous trainer.
Have you traveled before, practicing your craft in other regions? Unfortunately, no, I have never been able to leave home before now because of reasons I wish to keep private.
What Pokémon will be your partner, from the very beginning? Spearow. She was given to me as a present on my birthday and since then I have held her very dear to me.

What do you look like? Not very tall, very skinny. My hair is a dark brown and is quite messy, due to the fact that I can never be bothered to make it look nice and Spearow likes to sit in my hair. I wear a plain green shirt and denim jeans.

 But before you start your journey, tell me a little about yourself. Well, I started out growing up in the small town of Lavaridge, off in the Hoenn Region. However, my dream was to explore many vast lands, no matter how far. And I figured, why not the first place I start be with the most diverse of regions, the Johto Region? I hopped on the next earliest ship there, and landed right on the port of Olivine City.

Now tell me. Are you a boy? Or are you a girl? I am a boy.

Now, what did you say your name was? My name is Shawn.

How old are you? I'm 17.

Where do you call home? In Lavaridge City, in the Hoenn Region.

What is your dearest ambition? (Are you a trainer, or a coordinator?) I'm a well-devoted Trainer, set to venture through all of the Pokemon World.

Have you traveled before, practicing your craft in other regions? I've gone to most of the places in the Hoenn Region, but going past that, Johto is my first stop in my dream.

What Pokémon will be your partner, from the very beginning? (Under certain conditions, I will allow you two to start with.) My partners are the typical duo of Plusle and Minun. They're the hardest working team you'll ever see in this world!

 

What do you look like? Ryan is a tall, lanky teenager with a dark green headband, blue eyes, brown hair, and white skin. His apparel consists of a green jacket, black undershirt, blue jeans, and black sneakers.

I don't mind. This is going to have a lot more of an Anime feel to it anyway. In-game mechanics such as ability and type bonuses will still apply, but it'll be a lot more open-ended than the game. Like... Like how Ash's Pikachu defeated Brock by setting off the fire sprinklers. You can't do that ingame, now, can you? Nor can Squirtle use both Hydro Pump and Rapid Spin like he does frequently in the show.

Have you traveled before, practicing your craft in other regions? well I did abit of sight seeing throughout the Hoenn region but i wanted to start somewhere fresh and far so why not Johto.
What Pokémon will be your partner, from the very beginning? that would have to be my Poliwhirl, but i guess he isn't rely my pokemon I was out in the ocean swimming quite far way from town (pretty much what i did everyday) and i just saw his Pokeball it bobbing up and down in the water so i grabbed it before some Carvanha snapped it up. no matter how hard i tried I never did find her true partner so I adopted him and he's been my best pal since.

what do you look like? well i'm fairly tanned , short brown hair with to little clips on the left side (boys can were then too you know), I also have this rely annoying scar on my upper right arm

I wear a green sleeveless hoodie, and brown shorts and shoes....... thats about it rely i do have other cloths but i keep in my pack for when and if i need then.

 

 

ok typing all that out has got me hyped to play some Soul Silver or Crystal, anyay let me know it i'm in or not or if there are any change needed.

 

also i'm open to rping some team rocket grunts

Everything from where Pacifilog Town to how he got his Poliwhirl screams that Paul is a water-type specialist. Is that the case, or is it just a coincidence, and I'm reading too far into things?

I can't really talk. I played through Emerald as May. I still can't tell whether Brendan's an albino or if that's just a bandanna or something.

 

You're accepted, although this is just a small nitpick. In Emerald, you can only catch Abra in Granite Cave, which is near Dewford Town, or on Route 116, which runs between Rustboro City and Rusturf Tunnel. Thus, it's rare for Abra to be in such a northwesternly part of mainland Hoenn. I'm not saying you have to move your hometown or anything, I'll accept you regardless, but it might make more sense, in game, for you to be from Verdanturf or Dewford or Rustboro.

And now that I think of it, I don't think Poliwhirl is native to Pacifilog. But since it was already in an abandoned pokeball, I'll cut Echo some slack.

I've tried battling with the wild pokemon in the area, but they're generally very weak, and not much of a point in battling with. I never had the ability to travel very far, due to my mother being a bit over protective. She's allowing me to now, obviously, but I'm kinda new to this.
 
What Pokémon will be your partner, from the very beginning? Well, I actually have two pokemon. My partner is a female Oddish. She's not very powerful, but we'll work on that. I also have an Absol... but he doesn't really listen to me. Ever. I haven't even gotten to see how good he is at battling. He was a gift from my father, so he has no intent of listening to me.
 
What do you look like? I'm kinda short, for my age, but I'm also a bit skinny. I generally wear a white tank top with an open jacket, and demin jeans and sneakers. I have dark tan skin, and violet eyes. My hair is short, and almost completely white, with one red streak at the front.

Have you traveled before, practicing your craft in other regions? Only been on holidays with my dearest Pokemon friend Eevee. Been around some regions just for sightseeing. Although I know some things about the places, it's been a while since I've gone anywhere. I have never traveled on foot between cities and actually did some proper training. I've lived a life of some luxury so far.

  What Pokémon will be your partner, from the very beginning? (Under certain conditions, I will allow you two to start with.)   Eevee. He has been with me since I was about 8 years old. We always slacked around, had fun. Because of this, i prefer to keep him outside of his.ball. One day, I plan to evolve him into a Vaporeon.

 

The second Pokemon I own is a Swablu, On my last trip to Hoenn I noticed her. She seemed to want to be around me but test me, thinking I was a trainer. So I decided to do my first fight  I managed to weaken it and used a Pokeball someone lent me. I caught my first Pokemon and thought I would be quite good at this. Making me decide to start this journey.

What do you look like? I'm 6 foot 3, white. I have long messy blue hair and green eyes. I have a slim body build. I always wear an orange t-shirt with black sleeves. And some blue shorts. (They are comfy and easy to wear). (image)

Well, I dunno about having Absol as a starter... Heck, why not? Iris had a Excadrill at the start of Best Wishes... You can use Absol, assuming at the start of the roleplay it's disobedient, seeing as how you've not proven yourself. I'd recommend having a second pokemon that's somewhat weaker and native to the relative area that will obey you, like, say, a Poochyena or a Whismur or something. It's really up to you. First form, whatever it is, okay? I'll add you to the roster once you decide on that and edit your character description fittingly, which I will then add to the OP in a Spoiler next to your character.

Or, if you'd prefer something else, you can say you got it while visiting family in Lavaridge or something. I dunno. I'm trying to keep this all geographically accurate. Y'know?

Yeah, you can, but I have to approve of it. Which I doubt I won't. As a water pokemon specialist, you should have a water pokemon. Eevee doesn't count yet.

Also, I have no problem with non-Johto pokemon. If you want a specific pokemon from another region, you can always talk to me about it, or just go to the Cianwood Safari Zone or Bug-Catching Contest. I could see you with a Masquerain. That would fit a water trend quite well.

It's evolved from a water type and is usually found around lakes. Does that not make it qualify? It even looks like a raindrop and flies like a damselfly, which are miniature dragonflies that you can never not see on a river in my neck of the woods.
