Help making music.

Hello everypony, I am an aspiring youtube brony and I am trying to get into brony music. However, due to my limited skills of only singing and rap, I can only make covers. So that is why I am asking for a little help in making a real song instead of just a cover. I can also sing on your song if you want. I wouldn't be doing this if I wasn't out of options so please show a little kindness and help me.

What worked for me is I took my favorite pony, came up with a phrase  ("Fire in my eye") and built the chorus around that.   The verses are always killer to do.  Just write whatever comes to your mind if it's a rap song, or write short lines that don't have to necessarily rhyme , but have to go together.  Maybe come up with the music first, like the chords, then go on to write the words around that.  

Another thing that helps is write poetry.  Songs are just poems put to music.  Write out a relatively long poem and then just add music to it.  Keep that pony in mind as your writing so you don't stray off the course of the song.   

 

Like I said before start with the chords, build the words, then add the extra stuff.  The basics first then comes the actual meat of the song.
