Norwescon

Hi All,

So was anyone else at Norwescon this last weekend? I spent most of my time in the back of the Masquerade, as a Den-Dad (basically making sure all the costume contest people were doing okay, were getting the stuff they needed to be able to compete, and that they got onto the stage and in front of the judges at the right time), so I didn't get to see much else going on Saturday.

There was an interpretation of Pinkie-Pie in the Masquerade itself, and I spotted a Rainbow Dash and Rarity wandering around together in the art show. They all seemed a bit weirded out by this old guy giving them a thumbs up for their costumes, but oh well.

Very few room parties this year, and no pony-party at all as far as I could tell. Norwescon seems to be slowly dying, with Sakura-con going on a the same time and Everfree and PAX coming up later in the year. It doesn't leave much left for Norwescon anymore.

Was this in WA i take it? Shame there was two competing cons and there's only so many of these you can have in the same location. Hopefully Everfree will be a bit bigger then the last time as that seemed to have the formula right.

I have made brony music since 2011. I like all kinds of music and genres. I'm sure you'll like some of it..

Here's My YouTube..I have several albums on Bandcamp and Pony.FM.

Check out the 20+ Musician project Maressey which I am running.

Yep, WA. I sorta figured that only those who were aware of it already would be interested in this thread, so I didn't feel the need to specify. Probably a mistake on my part. :)

Sakura-con is a relatively new pro-run anime con in Seattle itself, where Norwescon is a thirty+ year old general sci-fi/fantasy fan-con near the SeaTac airport. Personally, I think Norwescon fumbled the ball a bit around anime and other 'new' media. There's a reason why the *average* age of Norwescon attendees is 45, in that they really don't do much to attract the younger crowd.

So I'm assuming most Bronies in WA who decided to attend a con this weekend, went to Sakura-con. Ah well. maybe I'll go to Everfree myself this year. I know some youngsters who are going, some are even intending to do artists' alley or the art show (I'm not clear on which, as I have neglected to press for details), and they have asked me to go along. I think they just want to stick a sign on me reading 'World's Oldest Brony' or something. wacko.png
