movies/tv Watching for nostalgia?

Has there been things you'd re-watch for nostalgia reasons? I personally do this all the time, but I find the older I get the harder it is getting for me. Anime has had a influence in my life longer than I can remember, and I remember every show I've watched...but they seem different now than they did as a kid.

I have noticed how much I hate it when the major antagonist (or any of them for that matter) starts explaining their plans to their foes. It now drives me insane to watch the bad guy explain their plan as the protagonists just sit there listening. They could just show it instead of having this scene describing the trap, then the next one shows it. Now if they are explaining something for a future event, that is fine. But when the good guys are in say...a pool of sticky toxic tar or something and are being slowly melted away, I don't need the bad guy explaining the process of the toxins to feed his/her own ego.

Some shows that I remember do this are Inuyasha, Dragon Ball (entire saga), I think Naruto did. and various other anime I've watched in my teen years. So does anyone else have anything they watch for nostalgia, but can't finish due to something that just irritates them? If so what is it, and why does it irritate you now?

Dragon Ball Z, TMNT, Pokémon, Spongebob, Yu-Gi-Oh, old episodes of the Simpsons,  basically any show that was on cartoon network between 1998-2007.

You could get me to watch any of those just for the pure nostalgia.
But now I catch all the dirty jokes and references that were in them. Sometimes it rapes my childhood but other times it hilarious.

Well, when the Cartoon Network was on trial at my house I was watching Dexter's Laboratory and the Powerpuff Girls. But now the trial's over and I can't watch them. :( I actually like some of their newer stuff like Regular Show and Adventure Time. I guess it's time for me to purchase a new station!

Everything you just mentioned was recently added on Netflix, as was a lot of other old and current CN shows.

I sometimes watch some old cartoons and PBS stuff for nostalgic purposes.

Not entire episodes of anything these days, but sometimes I like to watch animated intros of shows I grew up with in the 1980s, particularly the Thundercats theme.

Most animation from the 80s doesn't date very well these days, but... good god, that intro still looks amazing.

Watching the Pokemon anime on my iPad. There's an official app for that now.

That show has amazing riffing potential if you're witty enough. The bogus science, Ash' brainless naïveté, Gary Oak's cheerleader harem.

Whenever there's an old Pokemon episode/ movie on, I change the channel to it. I loved the Pokemon show as a kid. It just brings me back to those days...

I can also guarantee that I'm the only one who'll say I do this with a show called "The Universe." It's a documentary show about astronomy, physics, and the like that I completely loved when it first came out. Kinda sad it's been banished to H2, but I like to turn it on when it's on. Nice review, and I relearn what I may have forgotten. It's a total win!

Indeed.

Only if the show is actually good. There have been shows that I looked up based on what I remembered of them as kids but couldn't recall the names of. I've seen a few of those just so I could set my memory straight, and I'll watch old things to see how they held up, but I wouldn't watch something bad just because it was something I watched as a kid.
