Who do you think it was that taught Twilight about friendship? Celestia? Don't make me laugh! It was Discord, Nightmare Moon, Queen Chrysalis, and yes, even your beloved King Sombra who have taught Twilight her most valuable lessons in friendship! Every time Equestria is threatened, Twilight learns something about friendship!   

 

Because of Nightmare Moon, Twilight learned the value of friendship and found the elements of friendship!

 

And Twilight became an Alicorn as a direct result of King Sombra's influence. Remember? Celestia would never had made Twilight an Alicorn had she not proven herself first by defeating King Sombra. 

 

It is disharmony that has taught Twilight the most about friendship, not harmony! When was the last time Twilight was in perfect harmony with everypony and everything around her, and then learned something about friendship?  Never, that's when! Twilight has learned everything she knows about friendship from the forces of disharmony, and I intend to show her this!

That is learning  -_-. You learn from your mistakes  . You have not proven anything. 

 

This is like bringing up WW2. This happened because Hitler did that. This happened because Churchill decided to do that.

Some speculate that she didn't interfere because she was trapped by Nightmare Moon, others say she didn't show herself because she knew Twilight could handle things better then she ever could.
