I always wanted to see A Space Oddysey, and more because of the ponification of it (the same way, the ponification of the Watchmen trailer made me watch that movie when it was on my TV ).

The psychology of it. Pinkie is overwhelmed by the fact that she's unable to devote herself to all of her friends? Why is all of her self-worth focused on what she can provide for others? That episode, if they do it right, is going to touch a lot more on Pinkie's self-image and how she sees herself and how she should live than it will on just boring comedy.

 

I mean, there will be funny stuff in it, but if it's not a sad episode I will be very surprised. I'm getting all kinds of vibes from it as the next Party of One.

Thanks for reminding me, keep forgetting to Google "2001: A Pony Odyssey". Don't remember if that was any good, I think I looked at it once and didn't get it.

 

Funny thing is, the day I watched it (just recently), there was a reference to it made in the comments on Equestria Daily. And that was before I watched it. Later that day I watched it, and that part seemed familiar, after it was over, went back to the comments section, found the post, and yup, was a Space Odyssey reference. That was weird.

I predict that the sad episode will be focused on the CMCs. The CMC theme song will be remade into awesomeness, and it'll have a montage of them trying to earn their marks, and obviously keeping failing, and it would be sung by Sweetie Belle, and at the end, they'll be walking sadly through Ponyville, she'll be softly and sadly singing the last verse of the chorus to slower music from the rock and roll of the rest of the song, because they'll be sad.

Spot on. Although, I'm not sure if it will be a boring comedy episode if they don't touch on the deep feelings of our dearest Pinkie Pie. I have enough faith in the writers on this one.
