I built my computer in February 2013, so almost three years. I doubt the SSD is recoverable, but the thing is, all my drives need to be replaced.

 

The thing's had a storage deficiency for ages, and I've been running off of a collective total of ~300GB of space between both the SSD and HDD. Not pleasant. (120GB SSD and 160GB HDD recycled from a broken laptop.)

 

I say start making backups.

I always try to make backups. My problem right now is that if this computer goes out I won't have one for a while. xD I can't afford another good one I wish I had one better for games and all of that.

 

Do you have any current backups? Or do you have to start from scratch? Are you gonna fix the computer?

Because I don't have enough backup space, I never have room to make a backup. But most of my important stuff is on the cloud, so... I'll have to get a new 2TB or 3TB HDD myself, though.

This computer only has 100 GB of total space and it isn't quite filled up just yet. I don't have lots of data. xD Or games or stuff like that. Though it is filling up...

 

You could get one, what kind of data do you tend to store? And how much do you have right now?

I have a lot of video footage... And gamesaves. All my drawings are on cloud storage.

 

So far, I'm finding that Toshiba and Hitachi HDDs have the lowest failure rates and Seagate has the highest. Western Digital's more in the middle. That makes sense since my 160GB HDD is a Toshiba; the only reason it broke was the power connector snapped off. Oh, and I have a 40GB hard drive from our old Compaq that probably still works, you know, from the time when 40GB was considered huge; it's Western Digital. (Looking for something >$100.)

All my processors are Intel (i3 for the Toshiba laptop I have, Atom for the Asus tablet I also have). The outlier was supposed to be my main computer; it's got an AMD processor. (I've had another laptop that had an AMD processor in it; it worked great until the whole thing fell on the floor.)

 

Now the challenge is to find an HGST HDD of at least 2TB. There are a few floating around...

I'm kinda, eh, atm. I dont have a job due to my temp agency assignment ending, so money is starting to dwindle and i've nothing to do during the day other than games. But, on the bright side, I was getting stupidly tired of that place anyhow, I've been wanting a break, and now I can game all day, so it's not all bad. Still a pretty mixed bag though, but eh. Glad I was able to get my fightstick right before i lost my job, so at least I have that to play around with and this also means I can focus on my music (and a little bit of drawing as well) for a bit, which, is always good. Ya know, if I'd actually sit down and do that instead of playing games. x)
