What happened? 

Somehow looks familiar to me...

Most likely. I used a fairly well known program to make it, and I used a lot of the game's existing assets because I can't art.

They blinded, poisoned, and then ultimately killed the great 42! And I'm pretty sure they were attacking multiple times in the same turn.

 

By the way, that random demon allowed you to rename yourself, so in my game, Punicpunch is now called 42!

Seriously though, you just got unlucky. Thieves only have a 10% chance to poison. Just use saint on them and they'll go down in about two turns, they have low MDF and HP. And of course they were attacking multiple times, they have two knives! More weapons means more hits!

 

That's cool. I may take that out though, if I get Punicpunch sprites.

Right. I think I've done everything there is to do in the first version of the game, so I think it's time to try the next version. Just to make sure I'm not missing something incredibly obvious, is there something you can do to get past that demon in the top left of the map in the first version? He just blocks my path and doesn't interact with me.

 

I kind of want to make my own game now.

Hmm... Probably a bard. I want to be the kind of person who inflicts good status effects on allies and bad status effects on enemies. I think that fits with me 'use math to alter reality to suit myself' type of abilities.
