Magic Man 222 April 13, 2013 #1 Share April 13, 2013 (edited) I recognize a similar topic has already been posted here, and what it's about is all in the title, but the significant difference I want to emphasize here is that the actor who you want to appear as a guest star has to be someone who could REALISTICALLY and FEASIBLY BE a guest star on the show. Some of the suggestions on the other topic range from realistic to simply impossible; Morgan Freeman has been brought up as a guest star more times than I can count, and someone even suggested former President Bill Clinton! No, this has got to be someone who the studio and writers could seriously get to lend their voice to an episode. Say, for example, Tom Kenny, a veteran voice actor who has voiced many comedic and villiain characters, including Spongebob and the Ice King to name two. Now if someone said he was going to appear as a guest character or even a recurring character, say like a Changeling or better yet, Chrysalis' Brother, Prince Weevil, I could buy that and not think it's someone trolling me. Or say Tim Curry playing an over-the-top big bad, or John DiMaggio as a Diamond Dog, or Charlie Adler as, well... whatever character, I'll take it, the guy's hilarious. But the thing is, these guys are well-known voice actors with roles in previous or current shows that would make FiM a possible route for them. I mean, hell, even George Takei, given that he's been doing some voice over work as of late would make him a much more believable candidate than say, Freeman, Lady Gaga or Daniel Radcliffe. Bottom line, if you have an idea for a guest star or voice for a recurring character, please do share, but just be realistic. Also, if you could share what kind of character they could voice, that'd be cool too. Edited April 17, 2013 by Magic Man
Yes-Man 597 April 13, 2013 #2 Share April 13, 2013 (edited) Thurop Van Orman. He's voiced Flapjack from the Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack, and Gideon Gleeful from Gravity Falls. I could see him playing, say, Trixie's cousin or something similar. (Or... I his name is something like that. I just got it off Wikipedia.) Akemi Homura 7,680 April 13, 2013 #9 Share April 13, 2013 I've got three underrated, yet potentially game-breaking voice actors on board that could alter the landscape of FIM for the better. 1. Patrick Stewart as Star Swirl the Bearded: Because Star Trek actors deserve some more limelight. I realize Stewart may be a bit more famous than John de Lancie (who played Q, let's not forget!) but during a flashback episode featuring the tales of Equestria's past, Stewart being thrust into the role of Star Swirl seems like a match made in heaven. To top it all off, you'd have a bit of a reunion going on with Stewart and de Lancie: Discord and Star Swirl would be something along the lines of Q and Picard interacting with each other! Just think how positive the reception would be for that! Onto the more technical aspects of Star Swirl's character though: I find it plausible to believe that his character can be inspired from Jean-Luc Picard himself. A wise, majestic man in command seems to fit the bill for Star Swirl's characterization even though he hasn't been mentioned a whole lot, aside from being the subject of someone's banter. What better person to give the role to than Stewart? 2. Michelle Ruff: Ruff is one of the most popular/famous VA's out there, and DHX covets VA's who've been known to do voices for English-dubbed animes. For a season finale (or any two-part episode, if the time comes), they would get a lot of value from Michelle Ruff. Given her status as a premier VA, her signing would not only spark a lot of interest in the community but she gets right into her character no matter the series. This is a win-win for everyone. In the end you'd have a potentially iconic figure among MLP (villain or otherwise), but also give Ruff a huge boost in her own fanbase. She's given voices in Bleach (lead role), Naruto, Code Geass, a few Digimon adaptations, Zatch Bell!, and the ever-famous Gurren Lagann (lead role). Video games? Try Resident Evil, Final Fantasy, and Street Fight IV on for size. She's quite the hit among studios, and she will not disappoint. In fact, some current voice actresses in FIM (most notably Cathy Weseluck and Tabitha St. Germain) had been signed for the same series to provide voice acting for, so you know this can be established. 3. Khary Payton: The voice actor of Cyborg from Teen Titans. Not as popular as the first two that I've talked about, but he's worked with Tara Strong in two series (Ben 10 and Teen Titans) and seems like a good fit for a new supporting character in the near future. What always stood out about Cyborg, however, was his comic-relief role (along with Beast Boy) and his accent -- it may not be a terrible idea to implement something like this to give Pinkie Pie some help in the comedy department.

No, I'm trying to keep the focus of the topic onto what it's about as some people here seem to be choosing to completely skip the written out requirements for their suggestions. This particular topic is tailored to voice actors and guest stars who within the realm of the possible genuinely could appear on the show. Voice actors like Grey De Lisle, Dee Bradley Baker, yeah, that could maybe happen. But Steve Carrel, David Tennant, Lady Gaga, yeah the prospect sounds fantastic, but they're almost never gonna happen. If one of them suggested they are interested in voicing for the show in the past, then sure maybe, but as is, I'm gonna have to chalk them up as a big no.

Dzastur 1,719 April 13, 2013 #15 Share April 13, 2013 Dan Castellaneta as Derpy's well-meaning but dimwitted father. (Maybe one line, two at most.) Michael Buffer as a bee-napper, who goes after the bee hive in Twilight's tree ("Let's get ready to bumbllllllllle!"). Or a fight announcer, natch. Billy West as a pizza delivery pony. Frank Welker as all of Fluttershy's animals, or as a talking parasprite. Chris Hanson as an intervention leader to cure Pinkie Pie of what others perceive to be out-of-control happiness, ("Why don't you take a seat...") LeVar Burton as a librarian. Jennifer Grey as a dance instructor pony. Sheriff John Bunnell as a pony sheriff, who would narrate a police video of someone stealing Pinkie's cupcakes. Jim Parsons as a science teacher at the school. Tress MacNeille as a crazy old pony. Matthew Broderick as a pony who tries to get the CMCs to skip school. Kelsey Grammer as Discord's "opposite brother", who would be a sensible goat without mismatched body parts. Meryl Streep as a fashionista who intimidates the heck out of Rarity. (My biggest reach, but stars do have a history of voicing cartoon characters to make their grandchildren happy.) June Foray as a friendly mystic, capable of magic. (Before doing spells, she'd go "Now he's something I hope you'll really like!"), or as whoever she darn well pleases. 3 Ain’t that Equestria / Drop on by / Ain’t that Equestria / Give friendship a try / Ain’t that Equestria / Ponies who fly / Little pink cupcakes for Pinkie Pie

I assume they'd be big reaches at best considering they might not even have connections with current VA's from the show, or just have no real interest in signing up for the prospect of providing voices for FIM. Or maybe some characterizations would appear to be unoriginal and a rip off -- like David Tennant and Doctor Whooves as his VA. It's true that Q and Discord are similar (they even have the same VA), but both of them have distinguished traits that creates separation. One is an inspiration, and the other just seems like a rip-off (no offense to the idea, of course). it also appears a bit too obvious to have Tennant voicing Time Turner (Doctor Whooves), because the prospect of it has been tossed around for a long time. Hence the unoriginality.
