Ever feel like "normal" a.k.a non-pony music doesn't cut it?

Not really. I do listen to brony music a lot, but let's face it, there is a lot of regular music that is far better than the brony music. 

I tend to enjoy both kinds, and I listen to both heaps.

I think they are basically the same frigging thing, to be honest. I mean, 40% of pony music is Dubstep of some degree, and 60% of normal music is.

I have heared many pony songs that are much better than the 'normal' stuff you hear these days. Much better, in fact. I have a playlist on my phone called 'Pbeat' which only has MLP music , and another one called 'R', which is more fast-paced pony music I listen to in the gym while on the threadmill. I have one other playlist containing nonpony music. The playlist is called 'Jazz'. It has over 400+ jazz songs on it, and although jazz isn't pony music it isn't really 'normal' music as well. Jazz is one of the only genre of music I totally appreciate besides pony music. Old rock is good too, but a lot of the stuff from today, like [most] dubstep and pop aren't all that great in my opinion.

Seriously, I can't stand most brony music. I have a very short list of the ones I like, and most of them are by EileMonty. A vast majority of the stuff the fandom makes just sounds uninspired and lazy, and not just the dubstep stuff.

If you read the other comments you would know that pmvs actually gave me nonpony music that I love, and is 60% I watch them in the first place.

and 70% of pony music isn't dubstep.

Well first, learn to use the reply feature. As I had to actually browse through to stumble upon your reply to my post. Second, you only mentioned about 9 songs. There are thousands of different songs in this fandom (alot of which aren't very good), you only mentioned about 9 out of the thousands in the fandom. It's pretty clear that pretty much most of pony music is poorly made dubstep.

Not really, I love rock music and pony music, although my love for rock music outlevels my like for pony music by a lot, plus I don't listen to music most of the time since I watch YouTube on a consistant basis.

Maybe it's just that you're not into popular music... Popular music is kind of crappy these days, but there is still a ton of good stuff out there. Have you ever listened to any soundtracks from musicals? Heck, even a few FiM songs were inspired by songs from musicals, so you might like them as well.

 

Also, when you say pony music, do you mean just music from the show, or also fan music? FiM fan music varies in genre a lot, and I would think there are non-pony songs that are equally as good and have a similar sound to some pony songs. Perhaps you just haven't been exposed to any good music outside of FiM in a long time.

My iPod only holds 16GB, and it is already half-full with non-pony music, lol. Seems too intimidating to narrow down lol.

 

At any rate, what is normal music that you pony music lovers complain about anyway? Pop? Rap? Techno? Dubstep? Instrumental? Perhaps if your definition of normal music is so narrow, maybe you want to broaden your horizons and try to get into genres of non-pony music?

(Prepare for Classic Arylett Post in which I ennuaciate that i don't really care about ponies as much as most people on these forums seem to.) 

 

Most specifically to the first poster, it was probably the genre of music that your cousin and such were listening to that you disliked, as well as the specific songs. Not that they were non-pony. There is FAR more non-pony music out there, which, first off, has more variety and gives me more to like. Secondly, bronies seem to enjoy making mostly techno and dubstep or whatever. These are kinds of music I am not really all that interested in. Third, there is only so much they can remix. Which can get SUPER boring and old after a while, just listening to the same songs. And other than the entirety of Canterlot Wedding's songs, there aren't really many songs I LOVE from MLP. So I don't really care to find remixes of them. (Especially due to the fact that I find most remixes of what I do like to be vastly inferior to the original due to being all dubstep/technoified for the most part.)

 

Even if they did make an original song, one without lyrics, it would be indistinguishable from non-pony music. It would only really need to have the general beat and sound of the pony, but otherwise, would sound nothing like MLP. It would only sound like that if one gave it the label. So it's like non-pony music all the same. A completely original theme barely based off of the show. Most of the brony music I DO have actually falls under this category.

 

I have... maybe about 10 or so brony songs in my 8 GBish library of music? The rest is taken up by video game music and miscellaneous other things. 

 

So yeah, no. I'd say I'm fine with any type of music, though with a preference to non-pony music.  It all depends on the specific song I'm listening to. I can make generalities and say I mostly don't like certain genres or types, but I can make exceptions for certain songs.

I mostly listen to "normal" music. I like some G4 songs and one G5 song, but I do not listen to them that often. Usually it's the normal music for me.
