Sir.Flutter Hooves 2,953 May 2, 2013 Share May 2, 2013 Hey bronies, This popped up on Equestria Daily today:http://www.equestriadaily.com/2013/05/yahoo-parenting-ponies-included-in-list.html#idc-container So, according to parents the newer generation of MLP is sexual because of their sleak design. WHAT THE ACTUAL BUCK? This makes no sense, is it because of their eyelashes? And look, it says that the ponies are ready for their stripper poles. Ponies could never...SWEETIE BELLE STOP! Flicker 141 May 2, 2013 Share May 2, 2013 I think it means some people need to grow a thicker skin. I mean, honestly! I checked out the article and the only dodgy remake was Queen Frostine. 3 Solar Flicker, http://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/solar-flicker-r1972 Wind Whistle http://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/wind-whistle-r2867
Mr. White 71 May 2, 2013 Share May 2, 2013 "According to parents" really means "According to extreme conservatives" so not much is to be expected in the way of factual information.
elbj 190 May 2, 2013 Share May 2, 2013 Hahaha yea I saw this on EQD today, too. One thing you have to remember is it is a Yahoo article. They'll run just about anything. I looked at some of the comments and most people disagreed with the oversexualized pony theory. I'd chalk this one up to a slow news day. 2 Signature by Dopey Hooves Sherlock Hooves fanfic
Dzastur 1,719 May 2, 2013 Share May 2, 2013 Quote from the article: "There is evidence that in girls as young as five watching appearance focused TV predicts body dissatisfaction." She then proceeds to throw the older, "plump"er generation pony toys under the bus as not being sexy. Do appearance-focused Yahoo! articles predict body dissatisfaction too, Mrs. Knadler? 4 Ain’t that Equestria / Drop on by / Ain’t that Equestria / Give friendship a try / Ain’t that Equestria / Ponies who fly / Little pink cupcakes for Pinkie Pie
MrHaru 217 May 2, 2013 Share May 2, 2013 It's probably written by that one lady that thought the entirety of the Season 1 premiere was racist and bigoted. Lauren Faust wrecked her pretty well simply by saying that in no way has color ever been or ever will be a depiction of race or any sort of sexuality. I really despise ignorant people like this. They probably think video games are the result of the recent bombing.
hawkflame 3,310 May 2, 2013 Share May 2, 2013 I think this is hilarious given that more than a handful of us here are known cloppers. I guess "sexualized" is in the eye of the beholder, but to me? ~Silver Essence~ 2,625 May 2, 2013 Share May 2, 2013 Really? Truly we can't go nowhere without someone making a judgment... However, the reason behind this might be due to their new designs, as they took a drastic change in their new generation. And built for stripping? What's next, designed to look like they want it.... Luna's Husbando 61 May 2, 2013 Share May 2, 2013 (edited) These soccer-moms will always find something to knit-pick about so it shouldn't come as a surprise at this point that one of these backwards nutcases will take a show like MLP and find it to be sexual, no matter how ridiculous the notion is. Keep in mind that this is the same kind of person that thought Derpy was offensive and wanted her taken off the show. You can't take anything these people say with a grain of salt. Mint_Melody 91 May 2, 2013 Share May 2, 2013 It's actually really normal for children of that age to being going through things regarding sex. Masturbation the beginnings of sexual identity, how they're supposed to look at sex. Parents don't come out and use the words sex, but if children are harshly reprimanded at this stage in their development for taking interest in things like their private parts or 'funny feelings' will be the building blocks for how comfortable they are with their sexuality as life goes on. Now, the idea CHILDREN are being sexually stimulated by the sleek designs of these ponies is ridiculous. These lessons they're learning are subconscious, not outright and children aren't getting stimulated by ponies, if they are they most certainly don't understand what that means and are not acting on it. That usually doesn't start until their preteens. Adults viewing the characters as sexual is totally plausible. Their designed to be more human like so that kids can more easily relate to them as humans, big eyes, slender bodies, hair styles for their manes and tails, but that same thing makes them relatable and sometimes desirable to adults.
Pony Of The Month 534 May 2, 2013 Share May 2, 2013 (edited) These parents are perverts! WarGrowlmon1990 94 May 2, 2013 Share May 2, 2013 (edited) Wow... these parents who come up with this crap make me want to facepalm. I'm a parent myself (well, technically parent-to-be cause my baby won't be born until September) and I've never understood the logic of these extremist soccer moms. Their way of thinking actually pisses me off. There are far worse shows out there that kids could be watching. MLP:FIM is a brilliant family show, quite possibly the best family show ever made. It doesn't deserve to be shit all over like this. Edited May 2, 2013 by WarGrowlmon1990
Magpie 623 May 2, 2013 Share May 2, 2013 if you're seeing My Little Pony toys as sexual, I think there's a bigger problem, involving you. Now, if they want to see sexualized ponies, I can think of way better examples.
Thunderchild 875 May 2, 2013 Share May 2, 2013 There are groups of busybodies out there that see weirdness in everything. You can see whatever you want to see in any show on t.v-doesn't make your observations accurate. How the hell are girls having body image issues because of a show about ponies??? What-their feet aren't hooves, so that's a problem now? The constant quest to find someone or something to blame for your inadequacy as a parent must be exhausting.
Harmonic Revelations 8,835 May 2, 2013 Share May 2, 2013 Of course ponies aren't designed to be sexual. In fact, every day I have to find ingenious ways to get around their anatomy when drawing them that way.
Guest May 2, 2013 Share May 2, 2013 those parents have no idea what they're talking about and clearly have never seem the show and therefore have no right to critizise it. if this show were the least bit sexual then it would not be approved for all ages. Fivefs 38 May 2, 2013 Share May 2, 2013 Well technically any that is anthropomorphic has been sexualized, I mean the more human we make the more attractive it will be to us. Not that this is always true I can think of some examples where a humanize e pony is just terrifying, but generally the closer to human the sexier. And I would say yeah the new generation is more relatable and humanized, soooo yeah I guess they are right.... In the same way that Mount Rushmore is more sexual than a cliff face
Dusty Soul 2,612 May 2, 2013 Share May 2, 2013 It's amazing that they look at it that way and no one else (except cloppers) does. They are making them sexual by saying they are designed to be sexual. Shanks 10,816 May 2, 2013 Share May 2, 2013 Just how sexually deprived are these parents that they really honestly believe that they are intentionally using the ponies to sexualize children? Rain Dance 131 May 2, 2013 Share May 2, 2013 Agreed with Chaotic, only one word needs to be said, Parents. I mean just look at the parents of today, when i was what, 11 Years old the parents ofo the other kids in my school was to afraid to let their kids be at home for 1 Hour at the morning for themselves cause everything we wanted was an hour off during the morning. But the parents these days are apparently way to over protective and caring for their chlidren, sure i might accept them carring for their children but P-Lease start thinking for atleast one second that you children might actually want to have his/hers privat This Amazing Signature Made By Miss Cloud Chaser. Gatekeeper Babylon 116 May 2, 2013 Share May 2, 2013 Nowadays, the so called "parent television council" is just a bunch of paranoid fundamentalists who believe in information they get from Fox News Channel.
