So just try and remember, when it comes to dealing with Harmonics guards, try not to get carried away. 

They're extremely well trained, not to mention physically resilient, so they're not going to die immediately in a fight, and they're not push overs - they may even beat your characters, considering they have strength AND numbers. 

 

To reference the game I can't get out of my system at the minute, they're the big daddies of this RP. They're tough, they're smart and they're brutal, they'll die, but they'll fight first. 

 

Also, try and keep in mind I don't get to replenish my dead soldiers like everyone else does. The Equestrian and Crystal Generals (the RPers) each have command over a smaller group, but to make it so that battles are actual battles and not just dancing with swords, soldiers die and get replenished with no cost, really. 

 

Historicallyinaccurate i've been thinking about your situation...since it was your idea to command your own squad in the first place, it's only fair that you get something more than others, is there anything you would like that makes your squad stand out?

The thing with muskets is they're pretty strong, especially when you have swords against you. You could put down a battalion in the time it took them to draw arms, and training and physical resilience counts for naught when theres a metal ball lodged in your frontal lobe. 

 

We where thinking about crossbows or normal bows, but again there's the same issue just under a different dressing. We couldn't decide on what would be less broken, so we just didn't pick any.

Well cross bows have more range and pierce power, but they take quite a while to reload.

 

Bows can fire pretty quickly but they lack the range and power of the former.

 

 

EDIT: And it can take quite a while to load a musket, and bullets do run out.

 

By the time it takes to tear, pour, place, ram, cap, and cock they could already be right on top of you.

Which is what I said, crossbows are stronger but take a long time to reload, bows can be fired faster and are generally not as strong. 

That said, the English longbow outmatched the crossbow for both range, power, and reload time when they where both used.

I could use flintlocks, those would be about twice as inaccurate as a rifled musket.

 

A company of 100 men might  fire at a mass of enemies and only take down 15 or 25. However they are faster to reload, for the flintlocks usually used a round musket ball that didn't fit the caliber of the barrel, thus it merely dropped down into the barrel. It was so loose in there they had to wad it into keep the bullet from falling out

I'll discuss it some more with Justin and Derpy and see if we can arrange something. I would however, not hold up your hopes. We have a no guns rule and I don't think many of us want to see that broken, so just in case, I would advise you think of something else.

I've never seen the spit method preformed in any manual of arms, only on Sharpe XD

Throwing weapons would be allowed, if you would rather use those. 

 

Give each pony a pair of throwing spears, maybe one in five of them a smoke bomb or something as a means of escape/distraction, I don't see why we couldn't allow that. It's strong, sure, but it's not OP and we have some pretty strong ponies in this RP anyway - Mad Life uses chains for example, i'd rather have a chain than a spear anyday...

It's cool, do what you feel like. 

Have you ever jumped to one side and then thrown a knife? It's not the easiest thing to do, no matter how trained you are, it's going to have a good chance to not work.

Things are slowing down, and I dont want this RP to die off, but there's nothing really interesting that can happen until we attack the town and Celestia finds out.  

@ brings up a good point, what are we to do about the black hoof, are they to have Derpy as a leader or are we allowing them to elect a leader? 

Also, @ hasn't posted for a while, what's the verdict on waiting? Are we just going to wait for them to post or are we opening up their spot for another participant?
