If a Pony wanted you to remain Human?

You are in an alternate reality where us Humans live peacefully along side sapient MLP FIM Ponies and xenophilia relationships are common.

Humans can be turned into Ponies using potions, but it's never done by force. Ponies that force a Human into a Pony is considered a hate crime by the vast majority of both Pony and Human.

Forcefully turning a Human into Pony is even considered a worse crime than murder, many Ponies get a life sentence or maybe even the death penalty depending on where you live in the world.

If you choose to become a Pony you also become an entirely new person with a different personality

and forget every memory you had as a Human, you won't even know your friends or anyone you ever knew.

You are unhappy with your Human body and want to become a Pegasus, magical unicorn, or a Earth Pony. However, your closest Pony friends and your Pony partner (Think Mass Effect/xenophilia) wish you to keep your Human body.

Who say things like;

Pony Friends: We love you the way you are. Don't change yourself. Sure, you can't do magic or fly, but if you do this you won't be the same anymore not to mention you won't even remember us.

Pony Partner: Please don't do this! You won't be the same Human I fell in love with!

Those are just two examples. I had more but you go ahead.

Wait, if I lose my identity, why would I choose to become a pony? Of course I'd agree to remain a human, even if I didn't like my human body. Hell, even if the pony wanted me to do it, I wouldn't. That's effectively killing myself and being reborn as a pony.

Not worth it. At all.

Yeah, why the buck would you ever choose to become a pony(Pegasus) if you couldn't  reap the rewards. That would be incredibly lame. I would still choose human, even though I probably wouldn't have a girlfriend or good friends who would try to stop me.

If whoever loves me wants me to stay the way I am, then changing myself would be a pretty boneheaded move, wouldn't it? I'd loose their love, and my friendships, so what's the point? As much as I'd like to become a Pegasus, I'd have to pass on that.

Exactly.

Let's say thousands of years ago in this world's history there was an evil Alicorn Overlord like Sauron named King Morgoth (or something) with fast army of mind controlled Pony minions using potion bombs to turn Human into more zombie like minded slaves to Morgoth

The non mind controlled Ponies fought to protect the Human race from Morgoth.

The war almost wiped out the Human race, but just as all hope seemed lost Celestia and Luna became Alicorns, whom used the Elements of Harmony to banish Morgoth to the moon and save the Human race from extinction.

If this happened in this world's history, I think the crime of turning a Human into a Pony would be considered a very bad one.

I would only do that if I actually wanted to forget who I am and wanted to begin anew.

And it would be required that the ones close to me forget about me, too. It would just influence me in a negative way if they would say something like "You do not remember me or who you are, but you used to..."

Total nonsense.

It would be really cool to become a unicorn and be able to use magic.  But I would not give up my memories to do it, especially if I had a pony girlfriend already.

I could see some humans using the pony potion as a way to forget traumas - things that were done to them or things that they did.  For some, starting a new life with no memories of the old would be exactly what they want.

Why ruin a perfectly good thing by effectively killing my former self by taking on a new identity who for all I know could be a complete jackass especially if I found a girlfriend albeit one that is a different species than me but one who dosen't want me to do it? Even if I kept my memories and personality I still wouldn't do it especially if my friends and girlfriend didn't want me to do it.

That's definitely a no. Even if I disliked my body, I love who I am and there's no way I'd give that up. Not that I'd actually need it in this case, but I can be a bit of a people pleaser at times so my friends and partner would probably be able to talk me out of it if they nagged me long enough.

  • 1 month later...

I would continue my life as a human. If my pony lover loves me the way I am, then I don't see a reason to change. Especially since I will lose my memory of everyone I ever cared about.

I cant go and change who I'm just because I'm not happy with my body, that's not right on any level. Plus I don't want to lose the ones I love or my memory's sure not all my memory's are great but still I would like to keep the good ones. So I would just say a human and just learn to love the body I'm in, and hit on Celestia a lot....

So if I took the potion, I would effectively lose everything that made me... well, me. In that case, I wouldn't do it. It would be too harsh on my friends and partner to completely discard the person I was. It actually is a frighteningly realistic scenario besides the "turning into a pony" part; forgetting your past and identity while your friends and lover go on longing for the person you used to be. I've heard this sad tale before.

My final answer: no deal!

The way I see it, it is not turning you into a pony at all. It is merely transforming a piece of flesh and inserting a new mind.

However, if you kept your mind and memories, it would be different. But like this... no. It's not worth destroying yourself.

scroudis I don't have a girlfriend. :P

But I do have some friends... just to be different, I'll take the potion, and if you have no more memory, that means I have no personality yet. So we will probably come up as a baby pony. I guess I'll take the potion when my life is going to end, this way I can live twice lol.

First of all, I wouldn't be able to appreciate becoming a pony because I would have no memories of being a human to compare.

Second, do humans face the death penalty for forcing a pony to become a human? It seems a little one-sided.

Third, why am I in a romantic (sexual?) relationship with a small talking horse?

There's really isn't a good reason behind it. That's what a lot of the The Conversion Bureau fan fiction are about. Genocide of the entire Human race by turning them all by force into Ponies. They forget who they are and have a different personality.

I guess so. Depends on what universe.

Xenophilia. In short intimate relationships with other sapient minded beings that aren't your own species. Like in Mass Effect, or Kif and Amy from Futurama.

I used that more as an example, it's not you have to be if it ever happened.

You have done an excellent job enunciating my thoughts upon reading the topic. Well, actually, my thoughts were more along the lines of "Huhminuhwut now?", but you get the idea.

The situation outlined leans heavily toward remaining human as the wise course of action, as reflected in the responses. We have opposable thumbs. That's a clincher.

But yeah... somehow, I'm still confused. XD

EDIT: Okay, just saw OP's latest post and that helped a bit. lol

I'd stay Human. Why would I change? If my partner liked me as a Human, I'd stay the way I am, not to mention if I lost my memories, I wouldn't remember the time I've spent with my partner.

Secondly, I'm fascinated by the Human in Equestria thing. Being a pony would ruin that for me.

I agree with the majority here. As many have already mentioned, what's the point if after the transformation you forget who you are and have to basically start life all over again? All your most prized memories....gone! I really don't see why and how anyone with great common sense would wanna lose all that..

It's simply not worth it. Of course I would stay human. I would not want to do that to whoever would be my special somepony.

I rather keep my memories and fallible humanity. Though I've had many bad past memories, the good ones outweigh the bad for me. Plus, it is through all those rough memories that I am reminded of how far I have come to get to the point in my life, where I am now content and happy with myself. (:

I find this particular topic strange but intriguing. I don't really understand the whole xenophilia thing as it applies to non-humanoid beings in a physical sense. I can understand loving someone/somepony for who they are though. That being the case, any relationship I would have with a pony would be completely platonic. I would have thought that romantic relationship between human and pony would be like the cat and rabbit relationships from the "There She Is" line of videos. :)
