gaming Controversial and Unpopular Video Game Opinions.

Then......I dunno what horror games impress you . I feel like you're a guy who's not easily impressed, or barely impressed at all :P

Yeah... that basically sums me up pretty good :P. It takes quite a lot to impress me, especially when video games are involved. I actually love lots of horror games, but most in my opinion are pretty bad. I think Amnesia would be a good book though.

You just said it was the worst horror game you ever played.......whatever.

Let's see...........wow, I don't have much controversial opinions to share.

I spend way more time playing casual games than I do "hardcore" games. I literally spent 4 hours today playing the Sims 3 casually rather than doing something more productive. I think the game I play the most on my PS3 is LittleBigPlanet 2. :) Edited by Rarietty

I've got some all right...

*The Dreamcast was better than the PS2 when both systems came out, all hype aside. The same games that were on the DC looked just as good or better than PS2 versions, and their launch titles also blew Sony's away. The DC died an early death in 2001, but even then it took the PS2 years to catch up to the quality of their library.

*Microsoft does not deserve another cent of your money or mine in console game sales, at least not until the next generation when they put out a system that isn't fatally flawed. Yeah, I know the 360 works fine now, but it took three years and a landslide of broken systems to put out a model without the RROD. I don't trust them.

*Final Fantasy VII was not the best RPG ever. It wasn't even my favorite Final Fantasy, which would be IX.

*The N64 was a better system overall than the PS1.

*Nothing remotely interesting has been done with first-person shooters since 90's PC gaming. You could basically play Doom or Quake for peanuts and have just as much fun as you did after dropping $60 on the latest Call of Duty. It ain't worth it, kids. It just ain't.

*Soul Calibur II was the best fighting game ever. Picture a weapons fighter with amazing moves and music, minus the double-D's on every female character and ridiculous animations of characters breaking the floor every time they're knocked down. This was SC2.

*There has never been a really good football video game. Not Madden, not even the 2K series. Something is ALWAYS messed up. Football just doesn't carry over well to gaming. -_-

It is for me :). Even though I haven't played MW3 to a full gaming period in a LOOOOONG time, the amount of hours I put into it made it worth the $60 for me..

Dammit, the inner fanboy is saying to me "Prove 'em wrong!" and I'm trying to say "Fuck off, fanboy! They can have opinions, too, ya know!".

Share your opinions that could shatter the earth with it's controversial-ness.

I for one think that Bethesda should make Fallout their flagship series rather than Elder Scrolls.

I find TES's world too generic and Tolkien-like. While Fallout's is a nuclear wasteland stuck in the 1950's, full of quirky people and an overly cheerful tone.

Now share yours, rustle mah jimmies!

This guy makes sense!

Anyways, I am real pumped for Naughty Bear: Panic in Paradise. Sure, the first was a flop with it's issues, but that's all been fixed, and everything has been fixed and overhauled. However, some people are skeptical. Many are. In fact, I'm admin on the Naughty Bear Wiki now, that's how much I enjoy it!

Although fun, Fallout gets too depressing to play for long periods of time. Seriously, I can't bring myself to wander alone through a wasteland for hours on end. It starts to make me sad and tired.

That said, I'm really looking forward to the next one. I'm sure they'll use an updated version of the Creation engine they made for Skyrim. So many possibilities there.

I think games are a waste of time.

GRRRRR, ME JIMMIES BE RUSTLED!!!!

If the series had maintained it's quality it achieved at Final Fantasy IX I would've disagreed with you, but considering the downfall in quality (FFX wasn't bad though) I think they should either get back on track or lay it to rest before it becomes laughable trash.

It sounds to me like you're saying that IX was the best in the series. That's something I've never heard before. In fact, I only know one other guy besides myself who's played it. It's like Final Fantasy IX was somehow lost to history.

When it comes to FPS games, Wiimote or keyboard/mouse > dual analog- I want to actually aim at my enemies, not have a lock-on ADS fest.

I enjoyed Killzone 2, but until I got used to it I was circling my crosshairs around enemies until they eventually settled on him. I died often. Keyboard/Mouse are the best input devices for everything except platformers and driving games, in my experience.

The Metroid Series can beat any of the First Person Shooter games out today, including Halo and Call of Duty. They really need to end the COD series, and Nintendo needs to revive the Metroid series.

I'd like to point this out for a minute. What about the people who enjoy the series? You may say "Oh, well why don't they play another game then?". I mean, that sometimes works, but still, some guys really like CoD (Like me), and would like it to continue for a little while longer before we get bored or sick of it. If I don't like something, I don't say "Well, since I don't like it, I want it gone forever". I mean, for example, I hate Pokemon and most animes out there, but I never say that I want it to end. Many people enjoy it, so I let them be. Simple as that.

I see what you are saying, but this is the controversial gaming opinions thread. I myself do enjoy COD, but it is getting a bit stale. And the reason I said the COD series should end is not because I hate it, it's because I think they should make a few more games and wrap it up really nicely. Edited by rcollinz13

I know it's about controversial opinions, I'm just saying that the "Oh, I don't like it, it needs to die" thing I see many people say kinda ticks me off. You could say that's a controversial opinions on it's own :P

But like I said, I do enjoy COD but everything has to run it's course. COD, is one of those things that is great, but is getting stale so I would like to see two more games and probably a finale game.

I hate the stupidly high rate at which grey/brown first-person shooters are released without any real effort to bring something original to to the table. It's the same ideas being recycled over and over again, but people seem to still go crazy over the new ones being announced.

there are ten Metroid games, and only four of them used a first person perspective, and even then the focus was on exploration.

While I'm not into CoD, they shouldn't end it, they should improve it though.

When I said that I think Metroid is better than these games, I did't mean in a FPS perspective. I just think that at the moment the FPS genre has gotten a little stale, and is lacking creativity. Although, I do hope that the FPS genre does improve and come up with new ideas, that would be great.

Games with FP perspective have done a lot of new things (not the shooters tho) Portal as well, Portals. And Amnesia uses it's first person perspective to make scares more effective, the scariest thing is what could be behind you.

SOMETIMES

I LICK MY GAME DISCS TO CLEAN THEM INSTEAD OF USING A CLOTH AND WIPING FROM THE INSIDE OUT

Wait, that's not exactly an opinion, is it?

Uh, too many Pokemon games, I guess?

Phew, I thought I was the only one! :o

They say spit helps keep the lens clean, not to mention licking is sexy! ;)

lol not really

I too could do with less Pokemon games, if only to make my wallet a little fatter...

I have also played it. And I love it. FFIX had...what do you call it? Heart? Soul? Something I hadn't really associated with video games before, until I played that one.

But nobody remembers. The mainstream fans ignored it because it wasn't like VII, the more intellectual gamers I became friends with loved VIII instead...IX was the odd game out. I still have it, though. I really should play it again.

I think every game in existence can take their quick-time events and shove it where the sun don't shine. I am perfectly capable of devising my own strategy to fight and vanquish a boss, I do not need a scripted event to play wet nurse to me and tell me how to do it. It's almost insulting.

I agree with you for the most part... except for the most over the top example, Asura's Wrath. It's almost to the point of being an interactive movie instead of a game, but it's too awesome for me to care that much.

Yes, actually in a lot of way Asura's Wrath was the inspiration for my previous post. I can see why there would be fans of it but it just wasn't for me. Like you say, it's really more of an interactive movie rather than a pure game and I suppose that's fine if you are looking to play a different sort of narrative but I felt like I did a lot of watching and very little playing which annoyed me after a little while.

The inverse of this is exactly why I loved Super Meat Boy so much. Pure playing, very little in terms of story, and extremely skill based.
