What's your opinion on Applejack's life in general?

Applejack's parents died not long after Apple Bloom was born. She was very unsure as a filly, hence her excursion into Manehattan. I think the reason she is so stubborn is because she wants to prove herself to her parents even though they died a long time ago. She has to support Granny Smith and Apple Bloom, making her work extremely hard.

I personally think that she is a boss. I mean all that she does is for her family, she should really symbolize generosity. But yeah I also believe that she pushes herself too hard sometime, trying to make her dead parents proud. She is also incredibly mature, trying to step up and take on all the responsibilities of the orchard. She also basically serves as Apple Blooms sister and mother figure.

What I want to know is how Big Mac was affected by their parents death, we haven't gotten a hint on that yet really.

True, and I think with Big Mac he's just naturally quiet so we might not get to see that side of him very often. For all we know, that's what could've made him so quiet in the first place.

As for Applejack, her life is good and she has an awesome and loving family, the likes of which folks could only hope to match. True, she does have to work hard to support the farm and her family, but I think she's in the type of family that if she, Big Mac, Granny Smith, and Apple Bloom ever truly needed help, the rest of their family would be there for them. You know, if Applejack wasn't too stubborn to ask for help for sometimes! Regardless, I'd say her life is pretty good although filled with a lot of hard work. It's always nice to see Applejack do something fun, such as hang out with her friends or take part in competitions. I imagine stuff like that is a nice break from the grind, same going for her family.

I think another thing is that she and Big Mac do most of the work and pretty much let Granny Smith relax since she's obviously worked so hard her whole life, save for Zap Apple Season, which she seems to enjoy doing, and let Apple Bloom be a kid while she can. As Dark Moon said, she has to serve as a mother figure for Apple Bloom even though she's also her sister, which means she has to know when to give her room to enjoy her childhood and when to be stern with her, as well as when to be a sister and when to be a mother.

All in all, I'd say Applejack's life is more complex than it first seems, but that it's rather on the bright side, although it does take some hard work to be her.

While it is unclear whether Applejack's parents are dead, I know a lot of fans just assume that since it is the original vision Faust had, although of course the current team could change it up and pull a Hey Arnold with her parents if they really wanted to.

The writers themselves actually did say that Applejack's parents are in fact taking a dirt nap I just wish I could find the statement on it I swear to Celestia I saw one, but seriously could somebody help me out on that? Applejack's life may have had some tragedy but overall she has a fairly good life she has a nice home a lot of friends, ponies respect and admire her and she has a close and loving family. Her parents deaths did have an effect on her no doubt about it, it caused her to mature much more quickly than she would have otherwise but forcing to forcing her to grow up a bit fast. She would have been a fairly hard worker even without her parents death but I don't think she would have overdone it quite as much as she has though she has made some improvements she does have a ways to go and as we saw in Apple Family Reunion is not beyond the occasional backslide.

AJ is a hard-worker, a mature person and generally an all-around leveled individual. That said, as far as her life as a whole goes, I feel like her farm work life gets incredibly redundant, despite any adventures her friends bring. I think it'd be cool to see an episode where the Apple Family just goes on vacation for a few days or something. They've more than earned it, and I'm sure the farm can survive for a few days without them. if not, they can get a few of their billions of relatives to come and watch it for them, or something xD

I really think that Apple Jack is a wonderful mane pony to have included into MLP because, she does everything for a family or for her friends. She always seems to bring action into MLP to make it exciting to watch with family or friends. If Apple Jack wasn't in MLP then MLP wouldn't be MLP. I just think that some community members dislike her for being helpful. Like in one episode she promised Big Mac that she would pick all of the apples on their farm, even Twilight offered to help she said "No, I can do it". and Sure as hell she did it. and I think it was the same episode a herd of cows came running, almost killing all of the innocent ponies in the town but, guess what? Apple Jack saved the whole town, leading all of the cows away. I'm not sure what episode these two scenes were from but, they sure were memorable. I just feel everyone should appreciate her more you know?

Here comes the Sky canon.

Well, in "Cutie Mark Chronicles" Applejack leaves home. She looks very young, and does not have her cutie mark yet. Is it safe to say Apple Bloom wasn't born yet? But when Applejack leaves, only Granny Smith and Big Mac see her off, and only Granny Smith and Big Mac welcome her home. That's why I think that there was something of a rift in the family. I don't know what happened, but that's the reason I think Big Mac, AJ, and Granny Smith were on the farm by themselves. When their parents died (just after Apple Bloom was born), BM, AJ, and GS took AB into custody as closest relatives. There's a really sad story in there, I'm sure.

Although of course the current team could change it up and pull a Hey Arnold with her parents if they really wanted to.

If they do that...

All hell will break loose.

All hell will break loose.

They have tackled the topic of death quite successfully in many childrens shows before without causing too much controversy and I am not just talking about action/adventure themed shows but because of the double standard of this being a "girls show" in addition to being a children's cartoon that does pose an extra risk which I of course can understand why Hasbro would be reluctant to let the writers take. It is a real shame as I think exploring such a topic would probably be good for both the children as well as adults watching it, would add a great deal of depth and character development to Applejack and might actually get rid of her undeserved reputation as the "boring one".

And dealing with loss as unpleasant of a topic as it can be is a very important one as tragedies can happen even at young ages and I believe that parents shielding their children from these topics as well intended as it may be does far more harm than good. If my parents shielded me from this stuff than I would not have been able to handle the kind of tragedies I went through in life one of which did happen when I was still just a child. Even though it is not mentioned in the show except for subtle hints it is her going through this loss and coming out of it as a strong, confident kind and caring young mare that is one of many factors which has made her my favorite pony since I first started watching. And it is the subtle hints of this, such as Applejack trying way too hard to honor the memory of her parents in Apple Family Reunion that has done what I thought was impossible and that is to make me like her even more than I already did which as one of the most outspoken Applejack fans on here is saying quite a bit.

Out of the Mane 6, Applejack is probably the most well-rounded pony.  She's a hard worker, she loves her friends and family, and she has the guts to do whatever's necessary to protect those she cares about.  It seems like it really doesn't take a lot to make Applejack happy with her life.  A little hard work, some good friends, a close family, and there you go!

Even though her parents are gone, I think Applejack would be very happy with her life.

In a word: busy VERY busy for that matter. Applejack not only has Sweet Apple Acres, which is a huge amount of land, and her family, she also has to maintain relations with all her family, employees, Princess Celestia and Princess Luna and uphold her duties as the Element of Honesty.

When you think about it that makes Applejack not just a member of the Mane 6, but also effectively the matriarch of the Apple Family and a professional successful CEO/business owner. Given that its hardly fair let alone accurate that many fans refer to her as "boring." Certainly she doesn't get as much screentime and plot as she deserves, but that doesn't make her boring, just neglected.

In short Applejack bears a lot of responsibly, arguably the most among the Mane 6, save Twilight and she's not only honest, but also loyal, responsible, savvy and especially caring.

Her parents are truly dead. I don't think the writers and developers can back out of that now. Whether or not this will ever be officially touched upon in an episode remains to be seen, but all the proof of her parents being dead is there.

1. In Apple Family Reunion, there are TWO shooting stars flying by together, not just once, but twice in the episode. How often do you see two shooting stars together? The shooting stars have to mean something, and they do. They are a subtle symbolization of Applejack's dead mother and father. In case you missed it, here are the two occurrences:

Bear in mind, that this family reunion was supposed to be the biggest one ever, and yet AJ's mother and father were nowhere to be seen.

2. The shooting stars representing AJ's parents was totally confirmed by storyboard artist Sabrina Alberghetti on Twitter:

3. Lauren Faust has said it was her intention that they were dead. I know Faust no longer has any pull, but it's safe to say that the writers are honoring her vision on this one. If you want a source, I would try her deviantart page, or Equestria Daily. I don't have sources on hand.

4. Meghan McCarthy confirmed the death of AJ's parents in a round-about way at a Comic Con panel. (If memory serves. Don't quote me on this, but I know it's out there. I saw it on YouTube)

Just thought I would clear that stuff up since some fans are still unaware. I definitely think that this adds to Applejack's character, and an episode dealing with the matter could be very beneficial in more ways than one. Rugrats pulled off an episode dealing with the death of Chuckie's mother, and there wasn't any controversy. I don't see why MLP can't.

I'll post my opinion on Applejack's life in another post since this one is long enough. I know I was a bit off-topic here. huh.png

I think Applejack had a difficult life, with having to deal with the death of her parents at a young age. Since Big Macintosh is older than her, I'd be willing to guess it affected him even more, but I'm sure it had a huge impact on AJ as well. Together, AJ and Big Mac got through one of the most difficult things a person ever has to go through, while still helping take care of Apple Bloom (who wasn't affected by her parents' death nearly as badly due to her being young). Applejack and Big Mac are arguably the strongest characters on the show.

Applejack's life has been rough in general because, she lost her parents when she was young but it is a good thing that she still has her little sister Apple Bloom and her big brother Big Macintosh. Can't forget Granny Smith. Even though she is a hard working pony, at times she can be pretty stubborn but she makes up for it with her honesty.

The delicious little apple-jack has a life that thousands of mid-western families have and that is a life of responsibility, hard-work, and family. While many of these ponies claim her life was rather hard, I disagree. The loss of parents is indeed sad, but does it equate to a very rough life? Nae. With such a vast family and a big brother to boot, I am sure she had a lot of support getting through the sad moment in her life.

She is a hard worker who provides for her family with the help of her brother and granny. It is hard by our standards as many of us do not live on farms or do farm work but since she has grown up doing it, it isn't so hard for her. It's just her life.
