Since some people one here have played this game and enjoyed it (Like me), I decided to make a master thread to it.

 

Talk about the coasters you have made, your favorite game in the trilogy, some good memories of it, how someone needs to get of their ass and make RCT4, and other things related to this fucking brilliant masterpiece game.

Oh boy. I haven't played this series in a while! I used to own the first game on an older computer. Now I only have the second(?) game on Steam, I believe.

 

I'm afraid I don't recall what roller coasters I've made, though.

I have the "gold edition" of RCT1, got RCT2 out of a cereal box, and bought RCT3 when it came out years ago. I really loved the sandbox in RCT3. As for what I made, I really have no idea. It's been a while. I'll see if I can dig up any old screenshots.

I played Roller Coaster Tycoon with Six Flags so much, that I enjoyed running the park and having fun even if I didn't earn any money.

if you have RCT 3 Installed with Both expansion Packs, Download my Custom made (sandBox) park here.

 

from Straight flatland to a massive unfinished park.  spent about 3 months on this and its still not finished.
 

 

warrning : depending on system hardware and graphic setting this may lag. 3000+ peeps in park..

unzip files in x:\users\(username)\Documents\RCT3\Parks\ (x being drive letter)
 

Open RCT3 > sandbox > load > Twisted

 

If u found the underground coast it was a designer joke, IN RC3 they removed the option to build under ground but a quick edit in the .cfg file you can re-enable it. so I said why not use under the ground for a massive coaster that makes no senses at all. also I wanted to see if there was a gravity vs coaster  max speed limit

 

its been about 6+ months since I last worked on it.. I did one to finish it one day.

ok so here is the RCT 3 option.txt file.

 

any one with RCT3 with or with out the expansion packs can use this option.cfg

 

How to use  and Edit file to match your system Resolution before the 12xx settings

 

Windows 7 / 8 / vista

copy options.txt to C:\Users\(user name)\AppData\Roaming\Atari\RCT3

 

Right click, Open with , Word Pad

 

very top line is the Screen Resolution. Ajust according to you system's native resolution, Save (do not edit any thing else)

open game, go to options and ajust video setting according but do not touch the screen size (it should show up black)

 

or do it your self copy and past these's into the options

 

Resoultion xxxx xxxx (change this to your native screen size if its higher then 12xx xxxx

the reason for the Guest Options is when RCT3 got released  there is a bug that causes peeps to not want to ride anything from kids rides, thrill rides and coaster. the statement and fix they gave  was the above. you could put the ride as free and they still wont ride them... this is still present to some extent, Load my park and check out the monorail for a example.. free and no on wants to rid it... there a few other rides that suffer from this still. and there will be no fix for this ether

 

 

ever since RCT3 Soaked came out the easies way to win any scenarios  was to build Food and Pool(s) right away the rest was just wait it out time consuming effort

FYI when your in a park click on a guest and rename them To

 

James Hunt (with the caps) the dune buggy will drop and u can drive it around the park in 3rd/1st person

 

FPS - and in game FPS counter will show up

 

Guido Fawkes - Gives access to the advanced Fireworks editor

 

John Wardley -  Removes height restrictions when building coasters

 

David Braben - Unlimited launch and chain lift speeds (only works after update #1)

 

Andrew Thomas - Decreases track friction, which can help when importing some RCT1 or 2 coasters into RCT3. Only works after Update #1.

 

D Lean - Open the "Flying Camera" routes editor

 

Jonny Watts - PeepCam (see the world through the eyes of the guest who you just renamed)

these are in game options / Debugging options.. There are other names that give you money, peeps ride all rides, peeps never get sick and other cheats. u can hunt them down your self.

I absolutely love everything in the original roller coaster tycoon and even more-so in the second game.  The second one was phenomenal, actually it was probably one of the best games ever.  I've made multiple six flags parks that follow a strict plan.  The only bad thing about the game were the restrictions.  I really loved number 3, but I never really was immersed like the first two.   There was an idea to make a movie based on the game 2 years ago, and thank goodness it never really hit off.

i had a lot of trouble making roller coasters in the first one they were almost always too extreme for the guests. my personal favorite though was a modification for the steel coaster's "shuttle loop". i had syncronized stations with more loops. don't remember much for the second one though. but for the third i focused too much on pools more than the other rides...

Fuck, thanks for ruining my hopes and dreams. I was really excited for that 

 

Anyway, I heard that they're making a port of RCT1 to iOS devices. As an iPad user, I am pretty happy about this since I have no fucking clue what happened my original disk

I literally bought this game solely because I wanted to watch Mr. Bones Wild Ride in real time.

 

Some peop le have aquariums, some people have these things. I have a computer monitor displaying Mr. Bones Wild Ride in real time. Or Conway's Game of Life.

I've got the platinum version of RCT3. It's one of the best games ever, especially when I could ride my own rollercoasters...(now I just need to make a home-brew motion simulator hooked up to the coaster-cam of the game.

I LOVED RCT1 when it came out back in the day. The only sim I've ever enjoyed playing.

 

The moment I remember the most was when I had spent countless hours on making the most epic park ever, and my mom accidentally saved over the file. I wanted to tear my soul out.

 

I also own RCT2 but haven't played it nearly as much. I didn't like the look of RCT3 so I never played it.

I have all three games and all of their expansion packs! I haven't touched the game since my PC broke and mom got a mac to replace it. I remember drawing ride designs and wanted to post rct3 videos when the time is right. I remember looking at a lot of great people who make custom objects and custom tracked rides, people like dazmatze, imagineer john, revolutionary rides, shyguy (there's a dude named shyguy), and vodhin!(His site crashed to eternity due to the amount of users). I wish I can buy a PC now and go back to my memories. ;_; DAM YOU MACBOOK!!!

Pride of place goes to a Hershey's Stormrunner re-branded with Soarin' n.n (It had to have Pinkie Pie too, so I made a cotton candy stand called Pinkie Pie's).

I never use any CS , I only find it a little bit useful when you post stuff online. The game is still playable without it, its just there to make it better.

I've saved some CS sets made by vodhin before his website went down. All I need to do is find a wesite to post the download links. But some other people have posted some of whis work on shyguysworld.com. You can find them there. Vodhin made amazing cs sets.

Mad posted some of his files here earlier, so I'm pretty sure you can post his set

However, if I was to post a recommended CS pack I would probably pick Steel Jungle. Nothing is better than some fancy looking coasters

I used to play the first one all the time. I recently got the second one, but for whatever reason I suck at it. The third one for me is impossible to actually play, so I just screw around in sandbox mode.

 

All in all, a great series of games. I still can't believe the first 2 were written in Assembly

I'm picking RCT2 up again after not having much time for it for a while, but this time I'm playing all of the scenarios as more of a sandbox mode instead of trying to beat the objectives. It can get super stressful trying to beat the objectives so right now I just want to take my time and beautify everything.

The only restriction I'm giving myself is staying within the vanilla park boundaries (including purchased land). Everything else is fair game through whatever OpenRCT2 provides!

Oh yeah, I should mention that OpenRCT2 basically merges RCT1 and 2 together including all expansions. Plus, I installed some QoL plugins and lots of custom objects for when I need it. It's so nice now being able to just add and remove whatever objects to use on the fly. OpenRCT2 is probably the best thing to happen to this franchise!

Anyways, here's my current progress on Forest Frontiers. I need to finish adding benches and trash bins at certain locations and finish that other train station:
