Those fossil Pokemon actually look pretty cool! I'm really digging them both, I just love their designs! This was my reaction upon seeing both of their second evolved forms, both of which I find totally badass.

Pokemon X and Y, pushing the boundaries of trying to beat Call of Duty for "game that changes the least between iterations and still sells millions".

But seriously, game looks alright. I just wish they'd actually try to change their formula a bit because it looks about as enticing as vanilla ice cream downed with warm tap water right now.

Both look awesome in my opinion, but I like auroras a bit more personally.

However I love both overall they have great designs, and interesting typings and ablities.

I wonder if they'll be version exclusives, I hope not, but the fact they match each version colors worries me.

And I kinda want auroras, yet I already pre ordered Y.

Oh well, tongue.png

I think Tyrantrum may fit a team slightly better if you ask me. From how he looks, he seems like the kind of pokemon you could use as a wall, or as a sweeper depending on how you decide to EV train him. I could see it being played as a tanky pokemon like Bastiodon, or as a damage pokemon like Haxorus. Where as Auroras doesn't seem to be that tanky, and more of a niche pokemon that could do some unpredictable things kind of like Umbreon, or Shuckle.

I am going for tyrantrum  because He looks sturdy, strong, and badass. I am sure he'd be more flexible for my playstyle than the other. But I'll probably end up getting both one way or another due to the perfectionist I can be.

The formula for pokemon is perfectly fine. It's a turn based strategy game. There are spin off series of games to meet other game genres for those who like pokemon but not turn based games. There are a TON of new changes going into the games, most which have been welcomes with open arms, and have been desired for years.

True, your probaly very right. I cant see auroras, being a wall. Especially with its typing.

I suppose despite that I like it.

Then again umbreon is one of my favorite Pokemon, so yeah :P.

Both fossil pokemon look awesome, and I plan on trying each one at some point.

I have a feeling ill be playing pokemon X and Y a lot...

Well by no means does that mean Auroras is bad, she could have amazing SP Attack ratios or something. She just seems really niche with her refrigerate ability. I could see her doing well in the story part of the game. But competitive She/he seems to have a really small space for flexibility in terms of how she can preform. What is really nice about it, is that Auroras is Rock/ice which is a pretty decent type pairing. I just have a feeling I may prefer using a Lapras over her.

I will be playing pokemon religiously....I get my Red Pokemon X/Y Limited 3DS XL in 5 days...I am so excited!.

Name these changes. Because so far the changes pretty much consist of doing the same damn thing in a different place. "WE CHANGED THE REGION AND ADDED 100 NEW EQUALLY UNINSPIRED POKEMANS FOR YOUR ENJOYMENT". I like turn based games, I liked every Pokemon game made up until this point. But the amount of changes they bring to the table is miniscule on a good day. The biggest changes happen between handheld generations, and even then they're never something worth particularly much. It simply doesn't warrant a purchase and I think lazy developers (like those who create new pokemon sequels) should not be rewarded for their inability to innovate.

Because most of any sequel is any different? there are many other new things being brought to pokemon. Such as quite a selection for customization that we've never had in pokemon games. You could choose between male, or female, but this is the first time you can change your outfit, buy new ones, and even pick skin color. There are even customization options for some pokemon!

And the pokemon inspiration is completely superficial. I would argue a lot of the pokemon already released, are more creative than some of the first 151. Just because 1 pokemon is older, and nostalgic, and the other is new and different; doesn't mean one is automaticly superior. Look at Muk, Grimer, Voltorb, Arbok, and Ekans. Were they really that creative? Yet none of them get as much hate as Trubbish, or Vanillish. And the mega evolutions are a nice addition which will surely add a new level of strategy to the game when deciding your party.

There is so much more innovative things in pokemon than in CoD if you ask me personally.

I have no nostalgia for Pokemon, at all. In fact I've never cared for anime (and I still don't) so as a kid I kept away from the obnoxious fad of Pokemon. But honestly, while I do think some good Pokemon came out of the time span up until emerald (Silver and Gold had some awesome additions). I just can't consider a lamp to be inspiring. Also, clothing customization, this is seriously an innovation? This is literally one of the "innovations" of CoD ghosts.

I'm sure she won't be bad, she'll always fill a niche if we're talking competitively, just like how some lower tier pokemom counter higher tier Pokemon.

I will agree that she won't really be in OU most likely though, just because of her being not quite powerhouse and versatile enough.

Plus like you mentioned I think there will be other Pokemon that with outclass auroras.

Of course I'm not planning on nessarily using her competitively, but she will show up most likely Atleast once in my playthroughs.

Yeah haha, im going to be playing a ton... Way more then healthy probaly...

Plus, I've heard rumors of extra save files for X and Y, which means I can playthrough it even more.

Not to mention Pokemon bank for storing pokemon if I want to do another playthrough.

And lucky! I was going to get one of those, but I was both to Eagar to buy a 3Ds and didn't really have quite the funds I'd like for buying one of the exclusive 3Ds's.

But they look awesome.

What's most important however is X and Y being awesome, which is so far shaping up to be.

Hopefully I am not let down. :)

There can only be so many "innovative" pokemon. What you think is cool is purely your opinion. And infact you would be wrong in what you consider a "Good" pokemon by apperance. everyone is wrong, because we are only right to ourselves, it is pure coincidence if someone shares the exact same veiw on the pokemon you like/dislike.

In that light, a pokemon is neither bad or good because there are fans of them whether you like the or not. And they are all welcome. I personally think Charizard is a lackluster pokemon. i think he is so uncreative  and so bland that it's disgusting. Am I right to say charizard is not innovative, or a good pokemon? No. Because to someone else, he is the best thing since pokemon started.

But the thing about the customization of the apperance of the characters is not a big thing about CoD. Most people would not be super hyped if you can customize the military gear of your solider unless if it adds some kind of a battlefield advantage. This is a feature for pokemon that makes the game more personal, as you can style the playable character towards you own liking. Completely different situatiob than for CoD.

Two weeks to go! smile.png

After catching a good glimpse of the gameplay, I became really excited for it's release.

In light of new information though, I'm reconsidering which starters to select.

Initially planned to choose Froakie and Charmander (for aesthetics and nostalgia, respectively), but now the combo of Fennekin and Bulbasaur is what I'm leaning towards.

Froakie's known attack seems to shift between physical and special attacks. Since it's only advisable to augment either attack or sp.attack, only half those moves can be used at full power. Fennekin's move set shows plenty of great fire and psychic moves; all utilized at max power from high sp.attack. It's one of my favorite typings, and the mage concept is growing on me.

If I go with Fennekin, I'll get Bulbasaur instead of Charmander. Mega Venasaur seems really resilient; and despite my minimal use of grass (and water) types, I love Venasaur for a couple peculiar reasons img-1369822-1-UNZJLhS.png

Fennekin, Charmander, Torchic. GET ON MY LEVEL.

... And make sure you only bring grass types when you get on my level, k? And no teaching them non-grass type moves.

Pokémon has went through many changes from generation to generation:

Gen 1 started it all so it layed the template.

Gen 2 split the special stat into special attack and special defense and added the Dark and Steel types, along with weather.

Gen 3 introduced abilities which changed battles drastically, along with double battles and 2 3D console games.

Gen 4 made it so that attacks were no longer determined if they were physical or special by their type, dramatically buffing many Pokemon.

Gen 5 introduced 2 new battle types with Triple and Rotation, and added even more new Pokemon than Gen 1 along with fine-tuning other mechanics very well(the battles are the fastest in the series in these titles).

Gen 6 will add the Fairy type, Mega Evolutions, Sky Battles, and will be the very first 3D handheld main series Pokemon title.

So yeah, while the changes made between generations may seem small on paper they really did change battles dramatically each game if you ask me, and I can't wait to see how X/Y's changes will effect the gameplay for myself. :yay:

After revisiting the news on X and Y, I've decided to form a full psychic team (probably after the main story). Quite a few new faces and typings that'll make make it work. So with that in mind, I'll switch to Fennekin as my starter.

On a somewhat related note, Mewtwo's mega evolution has me wondering....what are the merits of Mega Mewtwo X?

Fighting/Psychic is an interesting typing; trades the weakness to Dark for a weakness to Flying and Fairy while gaining the power to handle many other opponents (rock, steel, ice, normal, ice and dark).

The increased attack stat doesn't feel right for Mewtwo though. Granted, it's still more than strong enough to rely on those legendary stats, but what physical psychic moves can it learn?

Psycho Cut's pretty good, but don't moves like Psyshock and Psystrike draw from the special attack stat?

Interesting ;p, i never did a full 1 type team in pokemon yet really.

Heck i've never even done a nuzlocke ;p.

And I guess mega mewtwo X is just the physical version of the Mega mewtwos.

I'm sure it'll learn some nice moves i guess, it already learns a good bit of moves anyways.

Well assuming mewtwo can learn enough fighting moves to make it useful.

Psyshock is a special move i believe, and so is psystrike, except psystrike does factor in the other pokemons physical defense not special, but your special attack(If i'm remembering right.)

But yeah it is a bit awkward i guess

I think with mewtwos stats it'll be fine though.

Also on another note since nobody here mentioned it yet, for those who didn't hear a new pokemon the evolution of honedge, Doublade was revealed.

Its like honedge, except with two blades and its pink.

Its cool enough, a bit more simple, but i still think its cool.

@@Zygen, There are finally enough dual psychic types that I really like to make this team a reality. I have an ideal team that balances a bunch of other types, but that'll come later. With all the new features, it should be a cinch to raise your Pokemon well; especially if they reduce/remove the impact of natures and IVs. Seeing the super training options gives some hope for that outcome, but we'll have to wait and see.

I don't usually place legendaries on my team, but could make an exception for Mega Mewtwo Y. Most the others probably lack a Mega evolutions, so it won't be TOO unfair.

As for the Nuzlocke challenge, I've never attempted it either ;p During my first-ever playthrough of Pokemon Yellow, I was oblivious to Pokemon Center. Just used potions to heal laugh.png Got worried after I ran out of PP, but my cousin got me on track. That's about as close as I've come to it though.

I'm sure there will be at least some new physical Psychic type moves added in the games, or at least I hope so, otherwise I guess Zen Headbutt could do for Mega Mewtwo X(not that Psychic is really the best attacking type anyway, I could see more common sets for it utilizing just a Fighting type move and other attacks out of its huge movepool).

Also, Psyshock and Psystrike are pretty much the same move in that they're a special attacks that target a foe's defense stat, save that Psystrike is more powerful.

As for how I feel about Doublade, it's okay I guess... I sort of hoped for a cooler looking Steel/Ghost though. The nerf to Steel adds more weaknesses tto it as well... a third evo with 3 swords will probably happen though, that'd be cool.

I see, sounds interesting. Psychic types are cool.

I don't either, although i dunno if mewtwo will be able to obtain before the end of the game anyways. guess we'll see.

I've always used pokemon centers and done normal playthroughs ;p.

I'm gonna do one one day.

And yeah.

Yeah, probably so, i'd be surprised if none are added frankly.

I suppose, although idk if current mewtwo can learn Zen headbut, and the mega evolutions don't learn new moves as far as we know.

I guess its a bit eh, but I don't think its a bad design exactly, its just nothing amazing to me.

Its still a cool concept in the first place i guess.

And true steel was nerfed, but on the same token is now strong to fairy type offensively, so it is somewhat buffed to.

Still an overall nerf especially for steel ghost, but still.

It's not even out and I worship the game, every last thing it's released so far. I'm a total Pokemon fan girl that sucks up to everything the franchise dishes out but I can't help it! Everything about Pokemon just makes me giddy. This game is honestly the only thing I'm looking forward to right now.

I just want the game soo much, it needs to be here NOW. xD

Hehe, its ok :D. I'm a total fanboy for pokemon to, i'll admit it, i'm gonna be playing pokemon for a long while, regardless of the games quality. Frankly they'll have to royally screw up to make me not wanna play.

But they've done quite the opposite for X and Y in my opinion, infact its shaping up to be pretty awesome!

I want it so much to :D. And only like 15 or something more days now!

I played pokemon in the womb! Fite meh!

... ok well i didn't, i think i got pokemon crystal(My first pokemon) back when I was like 4-5. But i've been playing and loving the games ever since.

And X and Y is far from an exception. Atleast as far as now.

I enjoyed the anime when i was younger, for quite a while, then lost interest.

I kinda picked it up again a while ago, but i'm only on like episode 192 or something.. Idk ;p, far from the end.
