Fluttershy's tears

Hi there everyone!

 

I just finished a little something, which is my second attempt at shading

I would love to hear you critics! About what's right and what's could be improved.

 

I wrote in the description of my post on Deviant-art about the meaning of this picture, nothing

Also, I just added a signature, because I always forget and It should be a reflex.

One thing I would like to change is the grass, because it looks pretty flat.

But I have other things that I want to get started!

That's a beautiful drawing. I'd like to see Fluttershy a little less smooth-looking, but ah well that's just personal preference.

 

And... is she crying in her sleep? What's the backstory to this picture?

I wanted to make the scene pretty sad, so here it is:

She found a poor flower which was dying, so she stayed to try to offers some moral support, because you know, it's Fluttershy.

But time passed by, and after all her hopes she started crying and felt asleep.

But Fluttershy's tears are the most pure type of liquid so, life came again, even if it was unconsciously.

I love Fluttershy, so its quite hard to hate any art done well like this of her. But it is very beautiful looking. I really like how theres the little sparkle on the plant where her tears land on it.

 

Can't really say theres anything else I can say about it, its well done and I like it . So yeah good job!

I saw this on DA and Favorited it. What did you create her in? She's gorgeous. If you wanted to make the grass less flat, I'd suggest more layers and using more than one shade of green to create the grass. Lots of either, drawing the grass one strand at a time or if you have photoshop there is a 'grass' brush you can use that does it for you quick and easy. (I use it a lot)

 

One thing about the shading though, if you look at the angle of the shadows of the flowers (which btw look great) then the sun is coming from that direction but Fluttershy's hair is lit the opposite way. even if there is no sun in your picture, you should always pick the direction the light should be coming from and make all the shading consistently from that direction. So Flutter's hair should have more shadow near her forehead and more lighting at the top where the sun would be.

 

Hope that made sense.

Awesome drawing by the way. It almost looks like it came out of the show itself. The wings looks a little realistic, which isn't a bad thing. It adds to the picture I'd say. Nice job!

I'm glad you like it! And yes there may be a few things about the shading that are wrong, but I still have a few things to lean about it, because this is only my second attempt

And for the grass, if you look closely, I did use the default grass brush in photoshop But I posted it on MLP drawing school on Reddit, and a critizer sent me a link to a cool grass tutorial, which the art style fit pretty good with pony drawings

Out of art, I'm currently working on a comic (which could also be considered as, because pretty much anything you make that takes drawing abilities can be considered as art) 

There's no fluttershy in it though, but I have a few ideas on the way!

The wings are indeed more realistic, but yeah like you said, it add a little touch to the picture, and that's the reason why I love this piece!
