Applejack's Element of Harmony should NOT be honesty.

Judging by the pilot episode where the Mane Six first discovers their elements, I've been thinking Applejack's element, honesty, isn't accurate for her.

In the episode, she reassures Twilight before letting her fall off the cliff to get rescued by Rainbow and Flutters, but I didn't see any form of honesty being the important thing there. AJ did say "What I'm telling you is the honest truth," but honesty is more about being true to your feelings and admitting them to others. In this scene, Applejack was not doing that. In my opinion, her Element of Harmony should have been trust, because Twilight had to put her trust in her by letting go of her. That would have represented AJ's character more accurately, I think.

If they wanted to give her a proper scene for honesty, they could have had her being honest about something she did wrong in order to save her friends. That was done in a fanfic I read on FIMFiction, and I thought that would have been great in the real episode, because that's what honesty represents.

In my opinion, I think Rainbow Dash's element should have been bravery while Applejack's element should have been loyalty.

Yeah, loyalty could suit AJ, I suppose. Definitely more than honesty does anyway. She's not quite as loyal as Rainbow Dash is though. But Rainbow is probably the bravest out of all of them. :)

Applejack's element always felt like the one where they were like "Aw, shit, we ran out of things to use for elements... Um... what sounds good... Honesty! That works!"

It doesn't matter, though. Applejack's character has always been "meh," to me, considering that she's just a stereotypical country girl. She can have whatever element she wants as far as I'm concerned.

Applejack's element is honesty because she's is reliable and always keeps her words. This is shown by her telling Twilight to let go, and that she guarantee Twilight's safety. You will find that honestly is the right element if you pay more attention at her actions in the show. The scene where she asked Twilight to let go of her also shows this. Just think about it. One simple example, will you trust your life to a liar?

Rainbow Dash's element is loyalty because she always stands for her friends (side, whatever) no matter what, and that brings her to her bravery, etc.

One thing to note that these elements are made to represent what things are needed to make harmony in life. You need to be honest, and honesty can make people trust you.

I see where your coming from. The whole honesty thing didn't really earn it's way with me. She realistically should have been given the element of baking fine foods.

I have to admit you're making a very good point there. I think I understand why her element is honesty now, you've won me over! XD

Yeah well I just felt that trust would have made a bit more sense. But I can see why honesty can suit her now. :)

Baking foods? I think we need a more special element than that! xD

I know that Applejack's Element is honesty but, in Return of Harmony when she was discorded it showed that honesty is her true element. While, dishonesty is her discorded anti-element probably her element could have been kindness.

Applejack was still telling the honest truth though. In many cases, Applejack is also portrayed as an honest, down-to-Earth pony, so the Element of Honesty still fits in her. Yes she can lie at times, but no pony is perfect. They all have flaws just like how we all have flaws one way or another.

I have said this once and I will say it again, being honest is not just about not telling lies and being trustworthy though that is important it is also about being to yourself, your values and principles and keeping your word. It is one of the many factors which has made Applejack the most well balanced mane 6 character as honesty itself plays into so many other virtues like integrity, kindness, generosity, loyalty, and others.

Applejack is the most honest mane 6 character because she is the most true to herself, she tried to leave her home to live with her Aunt and Uncle Orange in Manehatten but returned home when she realized that it was not for her. Many people are dishonest with others because they can't even be honest with themselves, people live lies due to fearing the judgement of society. This is why Applejack is such a refreshing character for me because she is an increasingly rare breed, an actual individual, someone who is confident enough to be themselves without caring what others think.

I think she is more loyal then honest.  Though that scene in the first episode has her saying something like "Let go... everything will be fine" or something along those lines, so that can't really be used as an example.

Yeah, her element and Rarity's were kinda messed up. I agree that they could be used to describe them, but it doesn't work very well.
