Ihei 713 July 24, 2013 Share July 24, 2013 I guess everypony likes them since they're pegasi and they're both very likable. Sir.Flutter Hooves 2,953 July 24, 2013 Share July 24, 2013 (edited) Well the big deal with Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy is that in my mind they're the best role models for young girls, and ponies most people can relate with. Fluttershy is scared, but aren't we all? She represents the scaredy cat in us all, but over the series you can see how she's starting to get out of her shell as well all do. Which makes her a little part of all of us. Rainbow Dash represents the "we want to be the best" part. And admit it, everyone at least once in their life wanted to best the best in something. That actually is something everyone can relate to! These two ponies are the ones that most bronies and little girls can relate to. Not everyone wants to be a book work like Twilight, or be a fabulous fashion maker like Rarity, or be a farmer like Applejack, or even be the best partier like Pinkie. But being insecure and getting out of your shell and trying to be the best at something are traits we all have. And that's why they're they're a big deal. Toa of Ponies 259 July 24, 2013 Share July 24, 2013 (edited) I think you could say that about many characters, if we were only looking at the negatives of said person, like Applejack works to hard or Pinkie Is never serious. Anyway, I think that The writers are aware of how the treat Rainbow, and do it as, sometimes, a "joke". I Love Fluttershy, for nearly all the reasons you listed, heh go figure. Rough Pathway 157 July 24, 2013 Share July 24, 2013 I don't think you're being fair here. First of all, I know you said you weren't trying to offend anyone, but being the human replica of Fluttershy, I can't help but being offended. What js wrong with being a "wimpy shy good girl"? I can get that characters like that might not be the funnest to watch, but I really love that I can finally relate to something. Also, you talk about how she would be cuter if she had pigtails, or an 'asian powerpuff girl thing going on' Theres much more to a character than just being cute. As for Rainbow Dash I'm not exactly the biggest fan of her, but she is a deep character if you can get past that 'cool' attitude she always puts on. I get it, the characters are popular, you're probably a bit annoyed (and honestly I get annoyed about how popular Rainbow Dash is sometimes) but your argument wasn't really fair. Yes, Rarity and Applejack deserve more love, but both Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash are great characters, too. I hope I didn't come off as mean, I was just trying to get my point across. 1 Signature made by the amazing Sir Lunashy I make PMVS.
Dashabel 381 July 24, 2013 Share July 24, 2013 (edited) When I first saw this topic title I thought it was going to be a rant about FlutterDash! Moving on... Personally I don't know how you can say Rainbiw Dash is bland! I would agree that since the very first episode she's just been written as very cool and brash, but they have improved her attitude a lot; her maturity, her sensitivity. I think she learns some of the most valuable lessons because she earns not to lie, boast and to be herself around her friends. I also for one adore Rainbow Dash's voice.. It's heaven... Although I must agree that Fluttershy seems extremely annoying at times when she refuses to cooperate due to her shyness. But, that's her character. Since it's plainly your opinion (I'm assuming AJ is best pony for you?), and you do not intend to ferociously tell us all, I shall not retort as much as I would have liked (I'm very protective of my Dashie). Honestly, all the characters have their flaws, but they also all have their amazing characteristics that make them lovable. Everyone has a different favourite pony for a reason.. What suits them best, I'd guess. I'll have you know AJ ties very close with first favourite pony.. But for me Dashie tops the chart. And most of the brony fandom. Rarity would be one of my least favourites because she's just too girly for me. Don't get me wrong, I still love her - as I do all of them in separate ways - but because they're all so different and I love them all in different ways, I wouldn't dream of picking out all the flaws for a character like you have, because I know there's people who love them more. Vay 175 July 24, 2013 Share July 24, 2013 I actually like Rainbow Dash though she is not my favourite and I feel she is a lot of people's favourite just because she is tomboyish and cool. I like Rainbow Dash because she struggles a lot with her insecurities and lets them beat her sometimes. I actually think her and Rarity are two of the best developed ponies in the series. Fluttershy though..eh. I agree. She reminds me too much of the moe anime characters, and not even the good ones. She is just a sterotype to me. She's cute and scared. That is basically what she is summed up. Whenever she learns to assert herself you can bet your ass the next episode she will go back to being scared again. She's a one note character that is terrifically stupid in "Keep calm and flutter on" because Discord could have easily taken advantage of her and DID. I really want an episode where she fails big time and has to deal with the consequences it seems to be Fluttershy is kind and shy so even when she makes mistakes they get resolved easily because she is cute. Rainbow Dash at least has to deal with her shit consequences like in Mare Do Well where being a braggert caused her issues in the end. Or Applejack in Last Round Up where being too sure of herself meant to she had to deal with the consequences and get money some other way. I just uhh I just don't like Fluttershy. I am slightly shy myself and used to be a pushover and I guess if they had kept Fluttershy as she was at the end of "Putting your hoof down" I might have liked her more but they didn't. She's back to being a wimpy pushover again while I developed from being a pushover and now can't stand the attitude that pushovers can't change. I guess maybe my issue is that Fluttershy being crippingly shy isn't cute, it's downright horrible for people who have experienced it and playing it off as cute annoys me. Fluttershy appears to have social anxiety and that's not cute. It's a mental disorder that needs treatment. And yes AJ, Pinkie, and Rarity need more love.
Forlong 1,726 July 24, 2013 Share July 24, 2013 Fluttershy She's loved because she's absolutely adorable. And the demure jokes are just hilarious. Rainbow Dash She can break the sound barrier and the entire light spectrum! She also has developed into one of the most mature characters in the show. Applejack The most popular brony on the internet happens to have AJ as his favorite character. http://www.youtube.com/user/DigibronyMLP Rarity On average, 9% of bronies have Rarity as their favorite character. Twilight is in the lead with 18%, so she's very popular. letterone 1,204 July 24, 2013 Share July 24, 2013 I can agree with your opinions on Fluttershy. I'm not a fan of the goodie-two-shoes characters (even though I myself am a goodie-two-shoes), plus I CAN'T HANDLE the adorableness. Rainbow Dash on the other hand, is, you guessed it, one of my favorite MLP characters. I enjoy her spectacular awesomeness 'cause of da Sanic. I'm a Sonic fan. Heck, Sonic is the reason I found I enjoyed MLP. If it weren't for Sonic I wouldn't think Rainbow Dash was cool, and therefore I wouldn't be a part of the fandom. TL;DR I don't like Fluttershy because goodie-two-shoes-ness, I do love Dashie because Sonic. You're right on the fact that the other 4 of the Mane Six should be respected more. For me, Twilight is already in the top two best, and Applejack's pretty high up there too. As is Rarity. Pinkie Pie's my least favorite, believe it or not. It's ironic how I fall just to get back up again...
AdrianJames 26 July 24, 2013 Share July 24, 2013 I likr Fluttershy a lot because I can relate so much. Im extremely quiet and will try to avoid social situations. Im not that big of a Rainbow Dash fan (though I love all the mane 6). My second favourite would be Pinkie, which is almost the opposite of Fluttershy, but I really like her and cant explain why. WWAPD 126 July 25, 2013 Share July 25, 2013 Applejack The most popular brony on the internet happens to have AJ as his favorite character. http://www.youtube.c...er/DigibronyMLP 1. Though I am a big fan, I hardly think Digibrony is the most popular brony on the internet. 2. http://digibrony.tumblr.com/page/2 If you look at his analysis of "Applebuck Season" (or just ctrl+f "favorite pony"), he says That Applejack is his second favorite, with Twilight being his first. -Rainbow dash is extremely self-centered, annoying, stupid in mindset, and incredibly overrated. She also does not represent loyalty. What she does represent however, is selfishness and a complete idiot. She gets way too much attention considering her being the one to make the main characters get their cutie marks (or "butt marks" if you will). So.. technically she is the most important character. I hate her. -Fluttershy is not cute. I don't find her adorable in any way at all. She is so.. ugly to me in design and color scheme. Her shyness is just annoying. -Applejack is actually my favorite character ! =) Way to keep the argument going! Rarity is best pony. Enjoy violent fan fiction? Megas 27,742 July 25, 2013 Share July 25, 2013 Actually I've seen all the 3 seasons of MLP. I'm not really being negative or dismal. You defend the characters as if they are people. Again, I know it's all personal opinion, you don't have to like the characters, but I find it difficult to believe that someone can still believe that Rainbow Dash is a self-cenered, selfish asshole after the events of Sleepless in Ponyville and Wonderbolts Academy As for your opinion on Fluttershy, I can't really say much other than I disagree

I hate her. Self-centered? In the first episode, Nightmare Moon tried to tempt her with her heart's desire and she said "no", because her friends come first. She also went out of her way to help Applebloom, which was no benefit to herself (Call of the Cuttie). She thought of no one but Fluttershy in Hurricane Fluttershy. There is a lot more, but I think you get the picture. Stupid in mindset? That statement doesn't even make sense. And it is an incredibly petty reason to dislike someone. You know who else in the show isn't to smart? Applejack. Not loyal? Cool story, bro. Griffin the Brush Off, Over a Barrel, It's About Time, Dragon Quest, The Crystal Empire, Too Many Pinkie Pies, and Wonderbolts Academy prove that claim to be completely incorrect. Hell, the first episode does. I know you don't like the character, but don't spread lies about people. 2 Check out my YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC5qXAcUzrizEHvorGalU5jg?feature=watch

Rainbow Dash is the complete opposite, and she's awesome for that as well. 1 This signature was removed for being too obnoxious and arrogant. -Makusu2 By the way, if you're talking to me in a thread, please quote my previous post. Appledash4ever0 13 December 8, 2019 Share December 8, 2019 On 7/23/2013 at 9:11 PM, Rainblow H. Ash said: Well, reading through all these posts has been a pretty enlightening experience. But I've always adopted a philosophy of just letting everyone have their own favorite characters. It's funny that this topic is about Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy having a lot of fans and not understanding it when Twilight Sparkle is in fact that most popular pony, at least as far as I can tell. But back to my point, I love Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, and Applejack to death. But I also like Fluttershy, Rarity, and Twilight Sparkle. I dunno, I just find it hard to hate on any of the characters. Do random fans sometimes annoy me? Yes, but I cope with it because it's just them expressing their love for a character. As for reasons why I chose Rainbow Dash say over Rarity, who has been stated to be deeper, I simply like her character more and I do indeed think that she's just as deep as Rarity or the other members of the Mane Six. Plus, I love cool characters who try hard to impress others and act like jerks, so that certainly helps. Overall, what I'm saying is this: it's fun to debate characters, but in the end everyone has their favorite and I can respect our differences. so true, everyone always go after the 2nd or 3rd most popular characters and say "how come they're so popular? why does fans like them so much?" it really annoys me. also i would like reply to the haters with "why do you like this character so much?" because they would probably know what i mean. like seriously twilight is most popular why don't you question her popularity. but the same excuse i hear everyday is because she's the center, the spotlight of the show. and its really stupid. this is first to hear but she's my least favorite
