gaming Sega Dreamcast

Remember when consoles from the Sega franchises really did wonders before its demise? Well, the Dreamcast in 1998/1999 is of no exception; not only was it such a marvelous console, it was also pure legend, despite being ultimately surpassed by the PlayStation 2. Even after discontinuation in 2001, the Dreamcast never ceases to exist even after 11/12 years after its discontinuation. To me, for a console that was from 1998/1999, the vast majority of the games were amazing, especially with graphics and gameplay that surpasses the PS1 and the N64 (in my honest opinion), including multi-platform games for the Dreamcast such as Re-Volt, Vanishing Point,Test Drive Le Mans and 18 Wheeler: American Pro Trucker. If you guys still own the Dreamcast, feel free to share your opinions about the Dreamcast, before and after.

Also, here's a video of the Dreamcast HD tribute:

And yes, it contains many tears and sheer liquid pride.

I used to have a Genesis, and if I had the money, I'd go on eBay right now and buy a Dreamcast.

We used to have a game store that sold stuff from the 2600 to the Wii (as in, old to modern), but it closed. :P

Ah, the Dreamcast! I was actually given the system for free by family members couple years back. I have great memories with the system and still go back to it to this day. Favorite game had to be Shemnue!

This wasn't exactly in my Era, I was born after so, but yet, I really enjoy them, I personally own one, and I love to just go sometimes and replay some games on it, such an enjoyable system it is, I loved it.

Ah, I loved the Dreamcast. Of course, there were classics like Shenmue, Crazy Taxi, Jet Grind Radio, etc. on the system, but I think what really drew into the console was that the Dreamcast, and by extension all Sega systems, really felt different from a gameplay standpoint compared to Sony and Nintendo at the time. Now we have two relatively similar consoles, 360 and PS3, and the WiiU. I long for the console days where every system had there own niche.

I think the only thing I disliked about the Dreamcast was the controller. It felt like a mangled Sega Saturn 3D controller.

I loved the Dreamcast's gaming library but you have to admit that the controller was awful. So bulky and uncomfortable to hold. In fact, why do kickass retro consoles like the Nintendo 64 have such poorly designed controllers? Meh, technological design has been great to us in the last couple of generations, I suppose.

I used to play Soul Calibur and Sonic Adventure 2 all the time. Phantasy Star Online was another great one but for some reason it kept freezing everytime I tried to do anything concerning the internet haha. Other than that, I think that was pretty much my gaming library (I know, lame). My brother had Crazy Taxi and Tony Hawk Pro Skater but I never was really into those.

I actually never owned a Dreamcast but I played some of it's greatest titles like Sonic Adventure 1, Sonic Adventure 2, Jet Set Radio, Nights Into Dreams, Resident Evil Code Veronica, and Soul Calibur. Great games in my opinion. I really would like to try out Shenmue and Soul Reaver, I heard those were good games aswell.

I never particularly had the opportunity to play the Dreamcast much but I have played many of it's games when they got to Gamecube or PS2 so I feel in a way I still got to experience the Dreamcast.

By far my favorite Dreamcast games are the Sonic games and Headhunter.

I still have my Dreamcast, actually. The unfortunate thing is that I have never bothered to spend the money for an HD adapter for the system, preventing me from playing it on any of my televisions. Given that I possess only two games now (Sonic Adventure 2 and World Series Baseball 2K1), it's not as though I'm missing a whole lot aside from nostalgia.

I do remember playing the NFL games with friends quite frequently. Those were pretty damn good for their time. The Dreamcast may have failed to sell on the level of the N64 or PS2, but it had some terrific games.

Such an underrated console, it was especially great if you were a fan of fighting games. Powerstone 1 and 2 and the Marvel Vs Capcom series were among my favorites

I've heard of Powerstone though I've never played it. I hear Castlevania Judgment on Wii plays a lot like it though which interests me. Screw haters, I loved Judgment.

I own both a Dreamcast and Genesis. I play my genesis more, though. It just appeals to me more. But I still think the Dreamcast has some good titles on it, particularly the Sonic Adventure duo.

The Dreamcast is one of the few Nintendo consoles I own. It's a really great system with some great gems on it. I have a relatively small collection of games for it and got most of them really cheap but they gave me a lot of bang for buck. I really like the arcade titles it has, because it's like a personal arcade, and I love simple games with clear objectives.

My favorite games include Sonic Adventure despite it's problems It's my favorite Sonic game and it felt like Super Mario 64 in a way. There is also Crazy Taxi an addicting taxi game. And Shenmue, which I don't care for the story but it's really fun exploring around town and it was really simple, it felt like a Humongous Entertainment game.

Some games I'd like to get for it are Jet Grind Radio, Confidential Mission, ChuChu Rocket, Sonic Adventure 2, House of the Dead 2, Space Channel 5, and Toy Commander.

Still have mine sitting in my room connected to the tv! Loved that system and it was by far one of my favorites alongside the N64.

I was at a bronies house with some other bronies, when we did one of our meetups, back in 2013 and it just so happens that this brony had an intact Dreamcast in his living room. I heard alot of stories and saw alot of gameplay of the dreamcast, but i never played it for real. We pretty much spended most of the meetup playing Chu Chu Rocket, Soulcalibur, Power Stone, San Francisco Rush and spended a few months playing through the first Shenmue.

For a retro console, that came out in 98, this thing holds up incredibly well and it's still a blast to play with. Everyone who didn't played it until now, really missed something.

That was me, when i made my way back home. :P

I used to want a Sega Dreamcast, after planning to go to this retro game store I go to periodically, but I decided not to and I got a Sega Genesis instead, since I've heard stuff about Dreamcasts breaking easily.

I always thought that it was pretty interesting and it had a lot of potential, it's just too bad that Sega pretty much dug themselves into a hole they couldn't get out of with the CD, 32X and Saturn (I also thought the Saturn was good and had lots of potential, but still) when they released it.

I had heard that a big problem with the Saturn is that it was hard to develop for.

I have a Dreamcast from launch day, 09/09/1999.  It's a lot of fun.  A lot of good arcade type gameplay.  I'll admit, I never finished Shemue...

I myself never owned a Shenmue, and those are expensive as hell! As for my Dreamcast? I suppose mine doesn't break easily and has lasted a long time ever since.
