Sleigh Bell pulled his cart along the wet streets in determination to find somewhere to sit off the rain. Baltimare was confusing, mostly because he had never been to Baltimare before and now he was completely lost. He had not found one single motel yet and despite the attempts of directions from a young colt ("It's down the street and to the right") it had been more difficult to spot than Sleigh Bell thought. So now, wet and a bit tired he was trotting about the streets, cart holding his belongings dry and nice. 

 

Well, one could say, why not ask for directions again? Now that would be splendid but not possible. The heavy rain had everypony staying inside where it was warm and cosy. White coat drenched, wet mane plastered to his head and neck he hoped he would find somepony to help him with the directions or even offer a place to sit down and take it easy. The last thing Sleigh Bell wanted was a cold!

Ember raised a hoof up to his forehead in a quick salute, his usual goofy smile making its way back to his face as he focused on picking up the desk Pondah had requested.  "Aye aye, sir.  No problem."  A few more sparks flew out of his stump of a horn while he focused on levitating the desk, trying to move it towards the spot Pondah had directed him towards.

 

The desk was larger and heavier than the chair he had picked up earlier, but Ember was still confident he could move it.  He had actually gotten a good night of sleep last night, his horn shouldn't fizz out on him.  Granted, the short time he had spent in the flood (as he was preferring to think of it) had left him a little on edge, but everything worked out.  The spell didn't give out on him until the desk was almost to the right position, and he was able to push it the rest of the way using his hooves.

Sky looked back at the group, noticing Pondah's reaction to his question and sighed. "I need to check something out upstairs real quick and I'll be back." as he trotts to the stair well that lead to his new living accommodations. He slowly opens the door with his key, the door creaking slowly as if it hadn't been opened in months.

 

Walking into the room, he begins to check the room apartment out. It was rather large for an apartment, taking up the hole second floor, with a common room in the middle and a large bedroom off to the right with a small room off to the left. He walked over to check out where he would be staying before checking the smaller room on the right.

 

It was a small bedroom with two sets of bunkbeds. "This must have been where visiting weather teams would have stayed." he said to himself as he got an idea.

 

He quickly trotted down stairs, looking at Pondah's scared face again. He wallked over slowly to the stallion, putting a hoof on his back. "Looks like it will be raining for a while." Sky looked Pondah dead in the eyes before he asked his question. "Pondah, I want you to be perfectly honest with me. Where are you staying tonight.?"

With the three ponies now working in unison, the three regular desks were swiftly put into place and their chairs put behind them. All that remained was for the large desk to be moved into place on the other side of the room. "Good work," ​Pondah announced. "Now we just need to team up on this large desk."

 

As Pondah was moving into position, he felt a hoof on his back. He turned whilst flinching to see Sky standing high above him. His eyes stared deep into Pondah and his constant gaze caused Pondah to start sweating. He stuttered as he answered Sky's query. "Th... there's this nice spot outside a hotel," ​Pondah stammered. "It's a little dusty but after today, I think I'm used to dust."

Sky looked a Pondah with some confusion, however deep down he knew that was the answer.

 

"Pondah, I'm going to make you an offer. My apartment upstairs has two bedrooms. It's not the Grand Mareland Hotel, but it's dry and comfortable. I don't want you on the streets....and before you say anything, all you have to do are two things. Pay me one bit a month and....tomorrow I want to to apologize to Bubble. Do we have a deal?"

Rut-Light sat there, looking out a window in the library, when he noticed a stallion walking along the street pulling a cart.  He seemed to be lost, so Rut-Light made a right turn and opened the large, wooden door of the library, closed it behind him and started to gallop towards the traveling pony.  As he approached the stallion, Rut-Light noticed his tired face; how long has he been out in this downpour?  When he was close enough, he faced the stallion and yelled over the downpour of the rain, "Hey!  Are you lost?"

Oh the sound of bliss, of life! There was somepony still around, kind enough to lend Sleigh Bell a hoof. He stopped, the cart rattling along the street would not help him hear what this other pony had to say. Ear twitching, catching the words despite the raindrops hitting every possible surface, creating a quite loud symphony named 'Rain slamming against roofs and streets'. The stallion nodded in agreement.

 

"Yes, I am quite lost, I'm afraid!" he asked a bit louder than usual, his low voice would have otherwise drowned in the drain, "Would there be kindness in your heart to tell me where I may stay while it rains?"

Caramel was slightly thrown off by Pondah's change of demeanor but she merely shrugged and continued helping Ember. "Come 'ere Emb," she stated kindly, "Let's get this here big desk a'movin." GIving a soft stressed grunt, Caramel managed to get one half of the desk off the ground with her hooves the upon her back as she tried to hold it high so Ember could join her with the other side. "You might wanna hurry Emb, this table's startin to do a number on me." She winked at him glistfully.

Pondah's pupils enlarged slightly. "What?"  he said; the suprise of not being fired but instead being offered accommodation knocking. "Really? Those things sound easy enough to do." ​After taking a moment to calm down and become more serious, Pondah resumed talking. "I was already planning on apologising to Bubble and I can hopefully obtain a bit a month. I'll take your offer."

 

​Turning to face the larger desk to assist in moving it, Pondah could see Sunny straining whilst carrying it solo. Pondah trotted over and put himself beneath the middle of the desk. It was hard, but Pondah was eventually able to stand and support.

Rut-Light once again yelled over the rain, "Alright then, let's get you to somewhere dry!" ,he thought for a moment and finally came up with a solution, "Follow me, my house is just north of here, and not that far off!" ,Rut-Light told the stallion "Come on!"  without another word, he walked at a fast pace towards his house; which was only about 2 blocks from the current position.

Sighing in relief, Sleigh Bell trotted behind this kind stranger, keeping a polite distance but never falling behind. The cart rattled behind Sleigh Bell as they hurried along the streets, both no doubt anxious to get out of the rain. At least Sleigh Bell was and considering the others pace, so were they. Shaking his large head, Sleigh Bell's mane become even more unruly than it first was, sticking up everywhere and in other places slicked up against his neck and head. Yes, he looked ridiculous and by no means presentable. It was good he didn't have to put up a stall in this rainstorm.

 

"Disagreeable weather, isn't it?" Sleigh Bell inquired in a conversational manner, keeping his voice loud enough to be heard over the rain.

Ember quickly moved to push himself under the free side of the large desk, grunting as he got his back under it.  "Ugh...  I need ta spend less time at the workshop n' more in the gym..."  

 

Straining to carry his own weight, his horn starts to glow as he tries to do what he can to lift up the desk with a spell.  It was far too large for him to lift completely, but he could at least manage to make the weight a little more manageable for the three of them. 

 

"Where -ugh- where are we moving this beast to?"  As far as the unicorn was concerned, the quicker they could get the large desk moved, the better.

The mare chuckled a little as the stallions jumped to help her lift the desk, "Thank y'all mighty kindly." Caramel patted Ember's head teasingly as the weight no longer affected her, "It's alright Emb. You'll get some meat on them bones once yah've had some of my mean fixins." She then nodded to Pondah, "Lead the way partner and we'll help with the liftin."

Slowly, Pondah began to plod towards the opposite side of the room. "This is going on the other side of the room," Pondah said quietly, his face reddening from the strain of carrying the desk. A quick glance to both sides showed that Sunny and Ember were still keeping upand helping out.

 

'What should I do once this is done? I've been told to apologise to Bubble tomorrow and I'm almost finished here. I suppose I could clean the apartment upstairs.'

"Righto, let's get movin'," the mare suggested kindly. With a little tug on her side of the desk, she began to lead it to the other side of the room without much strain. Caramel tried to carry most of the weight in order to help her two helpful friends get there without hurting themselves too much. Upon arriving at the other side, she winked to the two stallions, "Alright now, we're gonna have to sit our keisters down slowly so that the back can touch and angle while I hold it so y'all can get out. Watch yer tails now."

Candy didn't quite have any ideas in mind. She continued trying to think, scratching her chin all the while. Eventually she frowned and looked down for a moment. "Nope...couldn't think of anything. What about you?" She smiled, "There's gotta be something you can do!"

Sunny tilted her head in thought.
"Hmm... I can't really think of anything either. The rain limits us, and I don't have much here to work with except for some art supplies. And it seems that art isn't my special talent, much as I love painting and everything."  She sighed, and her ears flattened somewhat.
"I thought special talents were supposed to be something you were good at, and something you enjoy. The only things i know I'm good at are art... and magic, apparently."

Candy tenderly kissed Sunny's lips, and grinned quite broadly. "It'll show sooner than we know." She sat down in front of Sunny. "Still though...being trapped inside kinda sucks. We could do so much more if it were sunny outside." Her face was flat for a moment, until she realized what she said, "No pun intended," she grinned to her foolishness.

"Disagreeable weather, isn't it?" Sleigh Bell inquired in a conversational manner, keeping his voice loud enough to be heard over the rain.  

"Most disagreeable, indeed!"  Rut-Light now noticed where they where and smiled as the wind caused the rain to feel like somepony poking him with tacks.  "We aren't too far now!  Second house on the left is were I live, and you're looking pretty cold so let's hurry up a bit." h said as he quickened his pace to a canter as opposed to a speed walk.  He turned the corner and went straight for a bit then turned, unlocked the door and opened it while stepping aside to let in his guest.

Ember did as he was told - he knew nothing about the proper way to move furniture like this.  It had been years since he had moved, and even then he wasn't in his house long enough to actually buy real furniture.  "Are ya sure you've got it?  Sweet Celestia this thing's heavy."  

 

Not wanting the mare to have too much trouble once he stopped bearing his share of the weight, Ember furrowed his brows in concentration as he slid out from under his side of the desk.  The glow around his horn became brighter, a few beads of sweat forming on his forehead as he did what he could to make the heavy desk lighter for her.

Sunny giggled at what Candy said.
"Hmm, well at least we know that it's not weather forecasting. You've smiled plenty, but it's stormy," she chuckled.
"Anyway, I certainly hope it will.. And I definitely want you to be there when it does," she grinned and nuzzled the mare.

As commanded, Pondah gently slid out from beneath the heavy desk. It hit the ground with a dull be vivacious thump. The entire weight of the desk was now resting on Sunny's back and Ember's magic. Pondah stood clear of the desk and continued to think of what to do next.

 

'I can still look at the apartment upstairs and think about cleaning that out. If that's good I can look at the break room. Wait! I haven't gotten back to Sky about what I wanted to eat. I shall go do that now.'

Pondah recalled where Sky had gone and by walking in his hoofsteps, went over to where he was. "Um... Mr. Sky," Pondah said quietly. "Sorry about the late reply but I don't mind what you get me to eat. If I can make a suggestion, please may I have some bread and water? I'm starting to get tired of berries and garbage."

Caramel strained a little then allowed most of the weight to shift  to the back of the desk when that part touched the ground. She then, while holding it with her head scooted out from under it and guiding it down with a little strain. After the desk was place, she wiped some sweat from her brow before turning and grinning at Ember, "Boy, I'm sure happy that's over. That there desk was heavy one, I'll give it that." She then trotted over to Ember and rubbed against him with the side of her head softly, "Thanks for the help Emb."

"Most kind of you, sir!" Sleigh Bell said, feeling very humbled for this pony's kindness. The stallion did not step inside though but started parking the cart beside the house, "I will be a moment, sir," and at that he started unbuckling the harness that held the cart attached to him. He was quite masterful after years as a draft pony, so it did not take long until the harness was secured under the tarp that was covering the cart, to prevent moisture from getting in. THen he pulled a bag out, his traveling back that is and trotted inside. Ducking inside and squeezing through the pony sized door.

 

"Phew, how nice and dry it is inside her. Warm too. So kind of you and I apologize from imposing, I will make sure not to overstay my welcome," with that he rummaged through his bag and dragged out a towel and started rubbing it along his sides. He was soaking.

Rut-Light saw the guest enter the house and therefore shut the door as he himself entered his own house and started to just wander around his humble abode.  "The pleasure is all mine, Mr...what's your name?  I'm sorry if you already said it, I probably couldn't hear you due to the rain."
