Need a gaming laptop.

Topic says it all, I need a new laptop for school since my old ones broken, I'm a very mobile person so a gaming desktop is horrible for my lifestyle (as well as I have no itt experience so building one is a recipe for disaster), as well as money isn't a strength of mine.

My dad suggested this for me:

http://www.groupon.com/deals/gg-1-asus-gaming-laptop-1?p=1&utm_source=pc_vfe&utm_medium=email&sid=2eb68cf3-0ee5-4b21-ba66-bb82797fc938&division=orlando&user=5d54ff410956b79139ec97e54e5288c166ddcdf73a24b37439dcdfa90d3a263b&date=20130803&s=goods_widget&c=deal-image&d=goods-deal-page

But when looking at the graphics card I saw that it was lacking since it's only A GTX660M which isn't good in this upcoming gen of gaming.

So I ask you people of the forums if you could refer me to a gaming laptop that will be capable of handling next gen games (My budget here is around anything under $1500, but I would rather it be under $1000 if possible.).

Thanks.

The graphics card is not as important as the RAM and processor.  If those are correct, the graphics card almost always is.  Both are adequate and should serve you well.  If you can afford such a thing, I recommend you go for it.

Er, what? The graphics card isn't important? For a gaming computer!?

Anyway, from what I read, it's a mid-range card and can actually run a lot of games on medium settings at play-able frame-rates. If you want to have 60+fps, you're probably going to have to play on low settings on a lot of new-ish games, but you can still play them.

That's what I got for the small amount of research I did into the 660m, but you should probably do your own and ask around a bit more before you decide.

Eh, it's an alright laptop, if you don't plan on playing AAA games on high resolution. May have some major issues with high end games but outside of that, should suffice.

For the price though you might as well be buying a desktop that can go up and beyond that, a laptop equivalent will cost lots more.

Don't take my word though, I am not the most experienced with laptops and gaming except on a few that I've used over the years. Look more into it, reviews, etc. to get an idea if it is an ideal machine for your money and you.

Just saying, you could always buy a portable console, they have a wide library of games and each one is better than the other.
I have a DS right here, and i always keep it on hand when i'm going on vacations or i know i'm going to be far from my desktop computer. I always have fun with it, no doubt.
But still, if you want a gaming laptop, i don't know what to recommend, i would recommend an Alienware but they normally overprice their products.
If you could get another laptop with better specs than the one you linked, at least just a bit, i recommend it, it's good for what you will need.

Behold, MSI! I assure you that I am in no way biased towards MSI (hint: I <3 MSI) and this, although pushing your budget a bit, should be adequate. Although if you don't want something ultra-fancy or bulky like that, there's always this. The GTX 765M is actually more powerful than my GTX 675M and I can run games in FHD just fine, so maybe that.

Saying that the graphics card is not important for a gaming computer is like saying that water is not an integral or important part of a lake.

All of the components need to be high-end for high-end gaming. Even if you have a high end processor and motherboard with a lot of RAM, it's worthless if you have a low end graphics card.

Do you see the word now?  That does completely change the meaning of the sentence.  I did not say it wasn't important, as anyone who actually read my post would know.  What I said is that there are more important things to consider.  A game can be modded to use an inferior graphics card.  It cannot be modded to use less RAM.  Also, the graphics card can be easily upgraded, the CPU cannot.  Besides, any computer released in the last 5 years is going to have the appropriate cards anyway.  DirectX 9 just works so well that developers feel no need to use anything else.

Don't get alienware!

Ok now let's get on with the post.

I currently have an Asus which I have been happy with. Samsung also makes a gaming laptop or two, and MSI has a really wide selection. Those three brands are what I can recommend. Basically anything with a 560m or better is suitable for high end gaming.

There's nothing actually wrong with Alienware, desktops or Laptops, I've had both.

The Laptops are heavy as hell so you could double them up as weights if you wanted, they also play games rather well too!

Ok, seriously though, they're decent for playing games but they weigh a lot, also you are mainly just paying fr a badge, an equivalent spec laptop from another manufacturer would cost much less.
