SilverCrest 0 August 14, 2013 Share August 14, 2013 Well A lot of people are either choosing Luna or Celestia and most of the time they say Luna because Celestia is a tyrant, tell me what you guys think, I like Luna because well she doesn't get the credit for putting the moon out. Seriously would you want eternal light? Moonlight 7,288 August 14, 2013 Share August 14, 2013 (edited) Celestia for me. Night is important but I still despise Princess Luna. I don't see that opinion changing any time soon either. I should probably elaborate: Why I Like Celestia more than the other princesses - I love her color scheme She was forced to fight her own sister She's a natural born Princess who has been shown to be able to raise both the sun and moon for a 1,000 years. So, she's perfectly capable. Why I dislike Luna - Not a fan of her color scheme, to be honest. She expects to get things her way as shown in the first episode and in Luna Eclipsed. A majority of bronies treat her like a queen just because she misbehaved and got sent to the moon. It's her own fault, NOT Celestia's. Celestia did what she could, no matter how extreme her choice was. I think that does it. Mr. Critical 434 August 14, 2013 Share August 14, 2013 That's a nice quote by the way. But the reason I like Celestia is because she comes off as a tragic character to me. She had to banish the one person that could keep up with her eternal life, let alone her only known family member. No I don't count prince blue ba- I mean blood. There is no telling what kind of mental scarring she has gone through. But before I start rambling, Celestia is my favorite for said reason. I like luna too, I just need more than a jealous sister. 1 Demo Reel: http://mlpforums.com...-critical-r3994
Spartan 433 August 14, 2013 Share August 14, 2013 She expects to get things her way as shown in the first episode and in Luna Eclipsed. In response to this, at the time of her banishment, the Sisters were rulers that got handed everything.. but the modern days, Celestia doesn't get things handed to her without asking. So Luna is/was stuck in the past.. which she will eventually learn that nothing is just handed to you without asking. if that makes sense
John 793 August 14, 2013 Share August 14, 2013 (edited) Well A lot of people are either choosing Luna or Celestia and most of the time they say Luna because Celestia is a tyrant, tell me what you guys think, I like Luna because well she doesn't get the credit for putting the moon out. Seriously would you want eternal light? From some Greek philosopher, Without darkness It would be too bright, and without light it would be too dark Truth be told, we only have so many clues to lead us to the conclusion that Celestia is an abusive and tyranical leader. I really think that she could have solved the "sister problem" in a different way, but other than this there actually is not that much proof. I would however prefer Celestia to be tyrannical and treacherous; this is why I always support the conspiracies. Why? Think about the implications it would have on the plot. Celestia would probably have another moment where she craves power. She would betray Twilight and her friends and once again get rid of her sister. She would tell Twilight that the whole "Friendship" scheme was just a ploy to make her waste her time and keep her nose out of detailed history books, and that she used Twilight to accomplish her own personal goals. After causing Twilight to lose faith in the "magic of friendship," Twilight would have to put faith in the thing that Celestia thought was worthless (friendship) and defeat her with the help of her friends, finally bringing true freedom and peace to the land of Equestria. Seems a bit dark for a kids show, but it would be an epic plot. Edited August 14, 2013 by John
~StatesTheOblivious~ 1,795 August 14, 2013 Share August 14, 2013 (edited) It's her own fault, NOT Celestia's. Celestia did what she could, no matter how extreme her choice was. And that's the problem. How do we know? From what we know, it's possible that Celestia only then started to reason with Luna long after Luna started to feel bitterness. I think it's boths fault. And it was Luna who apologized in "Friendship is Magic" and Celestia accepted it. I think they're even now. And if the writers ever make it look like it was only Luna's fault, it would be a very simplified and ignorant perspective, I think. I prefer Luna. Not because I'm worshipping her blindly. I know that she only had a bit of screentime and only one episode and aside from that she was only a misused and dispensable plot device. But I can't stand "perfect" characters like Celestia. In response to this, at the time of her banishment, the Sisters were rulers that got handed everything.. but the modern days, Celestia doesn't get things handed to her without asking. So Luna is/was stuck in the past.. which she will eventually learn that nothing is just handed to you without asking. if that makes sense That definitely makes sense. SilverCrest 0 August 14, 2013 Author Share August 14, 2013 (edited) Well I found out, Nightmare Moon is comming back, did you see the Season 4 premiere animatic, I would post a link... but... eh too lazy, Twilight is all alone and stuff and everyone is gone, other than Luna who starts yelling stuff about how the kingdom should he given to her, moving back to "the old times" and Royal canterlot voice for all who want their earphones destroyed Edited August 14, 2013 by SilverCrest
Jammo 986 August 14, 2013 Share August 14, 2013 I'm one of the few who prefers Celestia to Luna. Celestia is good leader. Authoritarian, but merciful. Balances well between the image of a loving matriarch, and a powerful monarch who will punish ponies who get out of line. The best leaders take charge and show authority, but never at the expense of mercy or empathy. Not a pushover, not an aggressor either.
Concord 1,982 August 14, 2013 Share August 14, 2013 Hello! I definately like Celestia more, and I see her image as a good princess, instead of being a tyrant. There aren't too many Celestia fans out there, so, I'm quite proud to be one . 1 Thank you MatrixChicken for the Signature! Smarts 1,623 August 14, 2013 Share August 14, 2013 (edited) Celestia is my favorite princess out of the bunch. She is just, nice, merciful, wise, relaxed, patient, and caring. She isn't a tyrant by any means. Every episode that she was in proves this. If she was really a tyrant, then she wouldn't treat her subjects like friends. Luna was sent to the moon because she started her nonsense and Celestia finished it. The bronies who truly believe that Celestia is a tyrant are just very biased and won't accept that Luna was evil, when in fact she was. Celestia needs more love. Hardway Bet 96 August 14, 2013 Share August 14, 2013 I definitely prefer the tyrant version of Celestia, mostly because I'd love it if the show were more subtle than it actually is. Between the two princesses, though, I've got to say Luna. She seems to have a more complex and interesting personality, whereas Celestia only seems to be the embidoment of wisdom (no matter how much the universe has to bend to suit her advice) and that of a "cool" ruler. I'd like to know more about Luna - I don't really care about Celestia.
NightOwl 912 August 14, 2013 Share August 14, 2013 I'm really a fan of all the Princesses but I don't see Celestia as a Tyrant at all. As others have pointed out she is kind, wise and a good leader and I definitely agree with those points . Signature by me avatar by Azura.
DarligPegasi 315 August 14, 2013 Share August 14, 2013 Well I will always love Princess Luna and I know that Celestia isn't going to become a tyrant in the show, but I think of her as one. One, the lower class struggles amuse her. Ex: She laughed at the bellboy who was crumpling under Rarity's luggage. Two, she doesn't have any faith in Fluttershy even though she was the one to request that Fluttershy reform Discord. Ex: At the end she said to Twilight 'I'll leave the elements with you just in case." Signature by @@Champion RD92, Examples of my Art Work
PlsDeleteAccount 157 August 15, 2013 Share August 15, 2013 I don't see her as neither good nor a tyrant. Celestia is, as her sister, a princess and half-absolute ruler of the Principality of Equestria. In the traditional sense of the word, Celestia is a half-tyrant, but in the more modern meaning I believe she's, for a absolutist political leader, a very benevolent monarch. I sometimes like to compare her rule with that of Plato's idealistic leaders in 'The Republic'.
Shanks 10,816 August 16, 2013 Share August 16, 2013 A majority of bronies treat her like a queen just because she misbehaved and got sent to the moon. It's her own fault, NOT Celestia's. Celestia did what she could, no matter how extreme her choice was. I won't deny there is some truth to that but it is a wee bit of oversimplification. Yes Luna is often preferred over Celestia because she is shown to not be perfect and a lot of people including myself like a good redemption story because we find them interesting and relatable. Celestia is a great character but we simply have not seen that much of her outside of her roles as rule and mentor so we haven't really seen much of just Celestia the pony like we have with Luna and that is why I prefer Luna over Celestia myself even though I do like them both. I enjoy the alternate interpretations in the fandom like Molestia and Trollestia mostly because they are jokes and as jokes often tend to work quite well if done right. We know that those personalities are not the real Celestia but for some reason the jokes still work, but for Tyrant Celesta it just seems to fall flat most of the time. Exactly what can be accomplished with Tyrant Celestia that couldn't be accomplished much better with an actual villain? King Sombra especially would work well as a tyrant because we see actual evidence in the show that he was just that, he is the closest thing we have in G4 to the likes of Tirek and Grogar from G1 but with Celestia it is hard to picture even as a joke. Scootalove 10,689 August 16, 2013 Share August 16, 2013 I would have good Celestia since, I don't think I would want to be ruled by an oppressive government by Celestia. So, it would be better to have a good ruler than an oppressive ruler. Credit: Moony © Forum FAQ Forum Rules
Starling 100 August 16, 2013 Share August 16, 2013 I love both princesses equally. I don't pick or choose between Celestia and Luna. Their designs are beautiful and really capture what they're all about. (Light pastels for Celestia as she raises the sun etc and darker blues/purples for Luna as she controls the night.) I would also prefer a good Celestia, like Scootalove said. :3 My OCs; Starling | Aurora Message me for examples/ information on Commissions! I also make signatures! Fluttershutter 2,528 August 16, 2013 Share August 16, 2013 Celestia's not a tyrant, she's more of a mother to the other ponies than a normal political leader. She's great but personally I hate the sun and love the night. It's too damn bright and hot. I'm basically a vampire.
